I think, IPL wickets are over used by now at the end of Indian season and amount of dew has reduced significantly, therefore now it's better to bat first and bring spinners in the game. I won't be surprised if majority of toss wins now end in batting first decision - definitely against SRH, which has basically one top order batsman and a good all-rounder in middle and a brilliant, all-round attack.
 
Not going to be easy for Shaw against BK and Sandeep Sharma. 2 class swing bowlers.
 
Both openers gone.

Both struggled against seamers and gifted their wickets to Shakib. Trying to be too aggressive.
 
Kaul bowling trash right after getting selected for England tour. :))

Bowling like a proper trundler.
 
Pant does not know how to run between wickets. Calls for the run and then backs off.

He is playing well, but he is runnin gout his partners. He needs a massive improvement in that area.
 
Selfish Pant does it again. Calls for a run and backs off. And it's not the first time he's doing it.

I think, he is a pressure bowler - bowls well when a score in on board, but can't enforce the issue bowling first. Needs lots of confidence from Management/Captain and needs a series of games, otherwise he might not be mentally tough enough for long career. Most of the Indian pacers actually faced the same from their Captain - whenever team is under pressure, Captain goes to defensive with pacers or simply turns on to spinners. Zak was given that confidence, and for few years he was really good under pressure.
 
MSD can only dream of playing an innings like Pant is doing on a difficult pitch like this.
 
The pitch is difficult but Pant scored a hundred here, amongst the best IPL hundred.

On a side note - I almost thought of Bhubi in my IND-PAK XI ......thank God.........................
 
Never seen BK get destroyed by anyone like this.

BK is mentally tough and always comes back after being hit for a coupl eof boundaries. Today, he wilted under pressure.

This is some stunning onslaught.

Stupid selectors feel this great talent is not good enough to get into the LOI team. Grandpa Dhoni is still blocking this great talent getting into the team as a WK batsman.:facepalm:
 
One of the great IPL innings? Bhuvneshwar bowled his first two overs for 7/0 runs and then went for 18 and 26 thanks to Pant. Basically noone else could touch a bowler at the very top of his game, and this guy goes destroys him. I've been massively critical of Pant, but this was unbelievable. Seemed angry as hell too.

Also great Karma for Kumar arguing with the umpire for a clear wide. When you let things go to your head, that's when cricket acts as a great leveler.

Manhandled the Rashid and Bhuvi. Not something every batter can say.

It would be tough for me to pick between Pant and Ishan Kishan. Both are brilliant talents for T20 setup.

I would play both of them in the team.

I think it's more a measure of how good Pant was. Did you watch this innings? IT WAS INSANE. And the pitch wasn't even a belter. He played 3 freaking reverse scoops! Like what the hell was that? :irfan

he is overrated. I have seen ab smack him like club bowler. he is good against trundlers but good batsman can easily smack him. Just wait few days before batsman can exploit his slow balls and smack him all around ground.

Bhuvi is still one of the best bowlers. Don’t go by his overall ODI stats. When Pant is playing like this, even your choice Hasan or Amir would have gone for a lot. Pls give Credit to the batsman for hitt8ng those 2 boundaries off half stump Yorkers which set up the shor5 ball an$ fulltoss later.

No I didn’t watch the innings but I wonder why this guy has looked like a dud so far at international level.

He is 20. Takes time to mature for some batsmen.

In Nidahas trophy, he was over enthusiastic and was trying to muscle every ball to boundary. He will only improve as he has all the shots in the book.

Pant and Ishan Kishan will be regulars in the LOI team for India after WC 2019. I don't think MSD will play after 2019 WC. Hopefully not.

I wrote a post in another thread about why I think that was. His base is super unstable, but he's got insane bat speed. Looks a million bucks when it comes off, but when you're not in form, there's nothing to fall back on. He plays like Fakhar with even better hitting ability, but much worse technique.

He does that every season. He's an IPL and domestic superstar. The moment he gets selected for national team, he forgets to put ball onto his bat against mighty Lankan attack. Wait for his next international game, his brainfade starts from the very first ball and fails to connect even full tosses.

Team struggling at 43/3 scores 128 of 63 (team score 181) against good attack of SRH Bhuvi, Shakib, Shadab Kaul..

MSD also did nothing in his first 5 or 6 innings. Looked like a hack with no foot movement.

You have to back talented youngsters. Not hate on them after 3 or 4 failures.

He bowls length, which'll be crated everywhere with his pace unless it's a green top :) Just wait for the Pom ODI series on those recent wickets, you'll see.

But yes, Patn is exceptionally good.

He has disappointed so far in internationals but you and I both must have watched plenty of legends get tough start to their careers. He has almost always shown progress. Can't you give him chance to change your mind?

All of the backup keepers have been playing out of their mind this IPL.

Pant/Ishan/KL Rahul/Karthik.

Very impressed by the fearless attitude of Pant, Ishan and KL Rahul. Brutal on bowlers. No mercy irrespective of their reputation.
 
Its Dhawan or bust for SRH. If he plays one of those knocks, SRH can get this.

I think, that day he was the best bowler for IND, but point taken. It was Ashwin, who lost the game (& Bhuban with his tactics in bowling changes ...........)
 
SHR are making a match of it!!!!! They are probably at a better position now.
 
SRH are walking this. Dhawan looks a million bucks; looks like he's back in form.
 
May be, I have missed - did this Aussie guy Maxwell delivered anything in IPL, for last 3 years?
