IPL or PSL which tournament has the best local talent?

IPL does an excellent job in allowing young players get taste of what international cricket is like by giving exposure to the best players

I still remember the 1999 tour of Australia - our young players like Devang Gandhi , Hrishikesh Kanitkar , Vijay Bharadwaj & MSK Prasad looked so out of place against the likes of McGrath & Brett Lee. They were prolific scorers in Ranji but hopeless against quality pace - 1 reason being they never faced suck pace in Ranji

But look at Shubman , Rishab Pant , Ishan Kisan - they dont look intimidated against the likes of Starc , Archer , Rabada bcoz they get to play so much cricket against top speedsters in IPL. No wonder they move into international cricket like fish into water . Expect the same with Devdutt & Yashashvi

This is the biggest of benefit of IPL. Devang , Kanitkar , Bharadwaj looked clueless in 1999. 20 years later - Shubman & Rishab Pant steered India to a majestic victory at the Gabba. Huge credit to IPL for that

Ashwin is not an IPL product.

He is. In a lot of ways. He made ODI debut/T20 debut one year before Tests. Bhargav Bhat was the best spinner of India's first class season. In the previous season before playing ODI/Test he was averaging 41 in the domestic.

You are right here. Didn't noticed that. This is what I read about Ashwin from one of the cricket sites:-

A consistent season at the domestic level made him stand out and got Ashwin a contract with the BCCI. When Harbhajan opted out of the first two games against South Africa at home in early 2010, Ashwin was called in as his replacement. Alas he did not get his coveted India Test cap. Impressive performances for the Chennai franchise in the subsequent edition of the IPL meant that he was always knocking on the door and an extended chance arrived in June 2010 when India decided to experiment on their tour to Zimbabwe for a tri-series.

He never knocked on doors lol I didn't even hear about him until he got picked for CSK. With Dhoni in charge, he was pushing all the CSK guys into the Indian side. A lot of guys failed to cut it. Ashwin took his game to a new level by consistently improving. Also, his batting was a revelation. Sundar did not play first class cricket for 4 years. He got picked for T20 I based on IPL. From there he moved straight to Tests.

The performances of Bumrah, Pant, Pandya, KL, SKY, Sundar, Chahar brothers, Natrajan have already proved that not only IPL is the best T20 league in the world but is also a superior tournament to international T20s which is generally not taken seriously by anyone and is used as a benchmark for preparation of ODIs and Test series that comes next.

PSL maybe a good start from PCB but it still has some way to go to become a brand and that will happen only if the best players play together in that format. In IPL, it is already happening and the local talent pool is already quite large.

Well India has a better cricket team in all formats and has a better system. So you would naturally expect India to have the better local "talent".

P.S.: I'm pretty sure those who say the BBL has the best local talent have never followed the league. Even the Australians don't rate the league fgs.

Meaning the indian local talent won't be good enough for BBL

No Tom and Harry performs in IPL with consistency and Riley Meredith and Kane Richardson who are getting riled up in IPL are highest wicket takers of bbl.And I am pretty sure someone like paddikal,Shaw,Gill can definitely fire up bbl.yeah in IPL too some bowlers are pretty average but they were never good in IPL(consistently not in patches). And someone like Dan Christian,Richardson, daniel Sams are best of the rest in bbl.

Some ground rules if you wish to debate on this thread

1. Do not get personal with each other
2. Address points politely

If you follow these rules, we will allow posts, else we will simply delete them as we do not have time to babysit individuals.

You should have tagged Giannis too cause I wasn't claiming that just explaining what I believe he meant, my cricket knowledge isn't all that good to make claims like that :ns:inzi

so far the bowling has been poor - 1 good performance for n.shah and 2 good performance for imran tahir- who i believe will be the best bowler this yr.

a lot of pies have been bowled so far

Why do people keep discussing IPL and Indian cricket so frequently on this forum?.This is crazy.

Few comparisons that can be made are:

1) Harshal Patel vs Dhahani - who is better seamer?

2) Ravi Bishnoi vs Usman Qadir - Better spinner?

3) Abdullah Shafique vs Abdul Samad - better batsman?

4) Rohail Nazir vs Ishan Kishan - better keeper bat?

5) Mohammed Hasnain vs Karthik Tyagi - better fast bowler?

Kishan by a country mile
Hasnain

No need to compare the two countries. PSL is doing its job for Pakistan and IPL for India.

Whats the benefit of comparing the two.

And the long run goal of PSL/IPL is not to develop local talent. Thats what the local first class cricket is for.

The long run goal will be the financial independence of 100-200 of cricketers offered by IPL and PSL for their respective countries.

So far no new outstanding talent in this years PSL so far

Why is the PSL so important in that regard? what about the revamped premier FC tournament. Am sure even the likes of Shaheen had played in it before being noticed in the PSL

The IPL invest so much money that the best of the best do actually come.

PSL in overall Quality is second, but that will improve with time. Already a lot of quality players are coming to play.

This is true.

FC cricket is far more important than these pajama leagues.

We have seen how some of the IPL superstars ended up flopping in international cricket.

So every Superstar in FC cricket is ruling International cricket
