Iraq's Muslims celebrate Christmas in solidarity with Christians

Muslim businessman Yassir Saad has spent around £19,000 on a huge artificial tree to help Iraqis “forget their anguish” over the war against Isis.

The 85-foot decoration is on display in a Baghdad theme park. Visitor Saba Ismael said it “represents love and peace”. “I wish all Iraqi Christians could return to Iraq and live normal and peaceful lives,” she said.


Wonderful to see amongst all the gloom. This kind of solidarity should be celebrated.

Whatever USA did wasn't justified. Was cruel, was worst.

Saddam was bad inhuman etc etc i agree. but he was able to control the monsters which US couldn't.

Dont hunt what you can't kill, dont meddle in something you dont understand.

I take great solace from stories like this (and knowing of course millions of smaller, but similarly kind, gestures like this must be taking place all the time that just won't make it to the news). They are far more reflective of the Middle East I remember growing up in...
