If ever an away kit was apt for cricket, then this game would be it.

Pitch looks very green, almost a typical council park pitch !

If there's any moisture def bowl first.

Before somebody asks - coverage has started on Sky Ch 191. Should also have started on Cricket Ireland's YouTube channel.

Pitch looks green.

The 2nd match on Saturday will very likely to be called off - the weather forecast looks horrendous.

Is there any point of playing these games in IRL. Why not play in England, where it is nice weather and good crowd will come in. Irl should make England their home until they have a test status and intl standard cricket grounds. ICC and other cricket boards should fund ICB.

So far

Weather seems like a problem for both matches...on sat forecast is of 70% rain.

They evidently already do have international standard grounds...

Live on youtube. Outfield is better and hopefully no more rain and match will start 11.45 and 11.30 is a toss
Lol I have the YouTube stream on right now. I haven't heard a single commentator in the last 10 mins. Just peeps walking around the ground

'Spectators are not permitted onto the field before, during or after the match' :20: what a spectacularly weird announcement to make

Do the Irish fans channel their inner Sub Continental ancestry during matches or what?? :)) :))

Cricinfo's Justn Smyth writes:

Umar Gul, who last played for Pakistan in April 2015, returns as part of the pace quartet. The Pakistan coaches will be hoping that his experience will rub off on the uncapped Hasan Ali who has also been selected.

For the Love of.................

Used to be fairly common in England quite a while back now for spectators to be allowed onto the outfield during intervals at games, still happens at some county games.

Well,Gul may not be at his best now but he was a good bowler in his prime.

Well,Gul may not be at his best now but he was a good bowler in his prime.

Gul was an Okish bowler even in his prime. His highest career rating was I guess in 2007/08 season when he was the second best bowler in ICC rankings just below Steyn.

Over the year I never once felt him to be the 'run through a batting lineup' kind of bowler. Was decentish up until 2011 - After that all just spectacularly went downhill for him. The fact that it's 2016 and he somehow got selected again for the ODI team is just horrendous selection IMHO.

Inzi made a huge error in this regard. I just hope it doesn't cost us a series in England !! Fingers crossed

#Predictions Time: Sharjeel will make the Irish have a drink or two in the pub tonight. Amir will move the ball like an incoming rocket.

Gul should be told to bowl quick and fast, captains have failed to utilise some excellent fast bowlers we had. Its shame no more Wasim or Imran type of Captain have come through from Pakistan.

nothing on irish tv so far. they are showing some indoor athletics

and no its not the olympics before someone asks

Weather is always going to be a problem in ireland, I'm surprised they didn't want to have the games in UK as the weather has been superb for the last 6 weeks.

I don't think we lost any play in the test matches because of rain

True. Considering irish weather its worse than anywhere. Irl should make England their home until they have a test status and have intl cricket standard grounds.
Your prediction was a bit off. Next inspection is 12p local.

players are practising out in the middle and there are no covers on

Also shouldn't cricket ireland have alot better stadium then this ? Even Afghanistan seem to play their cricket in a better developed stadium. ECB really should consider letting Ireland use its stadiums for home games.

I guess this ground has no sort of drainage system in place. Hasn't rained for hours and still being delayed by a wet outfield

Pitch inspection at 12. won't get any play till 12:45 i guess.

think it will be reduced over game

Think there was some very heavy overnight rain. Shouldn't be anymore rain today though.

just looks like they are playing on some random field, no seats, there doesn't seem to be a proper pavilion, so a drainage system is very unlikely even most Asian grounds don't have a proper drainage system yet, they normally use the super soaker for wet outfield or if its a really poor board they have people drain the ground using thick ropes.

London has perfect weather today, suns out little bit of breeze in the air perfect ODI weather

just don't get why we want to play our matches in ireland when England has so many stadiums we could have played in instead

It's a high quality club ground usually for most of the season that gets converted a bit for international games. Filled it with over 12,000 people I believe when England played there against Ireland last (well game before last, last got rained off...).

Obviously they only put seating in for how many they're expecting though, so there's only a couple of stands around today.

No flood lights either come on. Knowing weather and delays not blaming Irish board, what is ICC doing to promote cricket in the world.🙄

India got all out for 80 when they played on a pitch like this last time in Pune.

What do you expect them to do... Suddenly pay for some special cloud seeding technology to try and stop the rain in Ireland? If the game was in England then chances are it most probably wouldn't be played in a ground with floodlights either. Wouldn't be put in an international ground for sure.
