Some comments I got from friends of mine and thought I would share here:

1. I think Pak might be establishing a new touring pattern , where teams play a test in Ireland before England games This is valid prep and Better than county teams

2. What a pleasure to watch this match. No sledging, no controversies. Mutual respect between both teams. Some good batting, some good bowling, some good fielding, ( along with some bad batting , bowling and fielding). The specter of rain threatening a result. The possibility of either side winning. Gracious hosts. Respectful tourists. Decent crowds. Decent pitch. How test cricket should be played.

Well played to both Teams! and Welcome to the Test arena to our Irish friends!

I'm all for sledging, but no team would sledge another team playing it's inaugural test. I hope we give it to England though.

Why would there be sledging against a team playing it’s first match???

Sledging is needed for quality cricket.

Just as long as it is not based on appearance, personal life, religion, etc.

I want the no.1 point to happen whoever tours England now.

As for 2nd point, as many have already said why would you sledge a team playing its first inaugral test. They want to enter into the test arena and play the gentleman game with right spirit. Ireland is also a very likable team. Sledging and all can come once they become a good test side.

That's all well and good, but let's be honest. Ireland vs. Pakistan SHOULD NOT be competitive. Yes we won in the end but we need to learn some serious lessons from this match, otherwise England will be scoring 500+ against us. Bowling combination was not right at all. Need to bring in either Hasan Ali or even Wahab Riaz, someone who offers something different and some pace. Abbas and Amir deserve to start the England tests, but the first change bowler must offer something different

Good contest. And I hope the first point you mentioned happens.. Would have liked India to play 1 test against Ireland as well before the actual tour.

There was something very charming about this match. Whites, real passion for test cricket thanks to Ireland playing their first game, the quaint small ground without big corporate advertising, a small but appreciative crowd, a good contest. Really enjoyed watching it.

Quite a change from the big, loud, commercial megaphones that most broadcast cricket today is.

Yes a very villagy feel to it! Almost like what I saw in Toronto when India and Pak used to play there

Agree, its rather petty to sledge a minnow team and then hide against the big guns. I hope we give it to England though as well.

Sledging? would any pakistani players understand the irish accent? :)))

On serious note was nice to see game played in right spirit and will hopefully be a regular fixture going forward

We don't know how to sledge, and Ireland were playing their first Test. Punjabi vs Irish accent sledging would have been a sight to behold though.

I agree that Ireland would be better warm up than County games. Would be great if Ireland could host India for a Test match as well before the series later this year but that's unlikely

indians sledge in Hinglish all the time

Yeah as if Pak team knows how to sledge, most of them are a bunch of timid kittens. Sledging is part of the game and you will can take that away from the sport.

Sledging only works if you know how to take as much as give.

Our current bunch excluding the young players were never taught this aspect.

They were sledged last time in ENG and complained to the umpire

Think we are missing the point. Its the spirit of the game that counts and this game was played in the best spirit.

Wonderful game, as pure as test cricket has been for a long time. Ireland were pretty outstanding!
