I know it's easier said than done but it would be ideal to only have 8 regional teams in our 4 day competition owned by Franchise owners who will have invested their money, resources into their teams and this way we can have 3 competititions

1) A 4-5 day tournament modelled on test cricket

2) ODI domestic tournament

3) T-20 tournament

4) PSL

The rest of the players can go to club cricket.

I believe this is the format Imran Khan has lobbied for his entire life in Pakistan Cricket.

Yes, it would be ideal and I believe it's possible. A year long season for fans to follow. It would create more rivalries. The T20 tournament is not necessary though.

I don't know why this doesn't happen more often in cricket. A proper year long season with 5day/one day cricket.

That's not 'PSLizing' our domestic cricket that's called bloody common sense. One that's escaped our board for a long time now for whatever reason.

Great idea. But I think eight teams is a bit much. It should be six. We should also have a maximum of two overseas players on each team. Just my two cents.

Basically copy the English county model which is very successful in making international class players for England and the rest of the world. Perfect.

Should have happened a long time ago.

The current structure is an utter mess.

I don't understand the fascination with reducing the no of teams. What will it achieve? Except for maybe make players pay better? It won't increase the quality, if anything it will decrease the talent pool.

Its very hard to do that. I remember listening to Sethis interview where he mentioned they were trying to bring in private investors and have them spend money in clubs, but the club owners weren't willing to talk dilute let alone give up their powers. Plus some of these club owners/local presidents/coaches are politically connected. If PCB goes after them, every other day you'll open your news channels or news papers to read anti pcb articles and reports and soon we all will be drunk on their propaganda coolaide and asking Sethi and all to resign.

first PCB needs to eliminate regionalism and favouritism, nepotism, politicization and corruption

only the team has improved due to leadership change (talent has always come and gone) dont see how PCB will be changing its mind set, standard operating procedure in the near future

politics has to be removed from PCB

zaka ashraf was blue eyed boy of previous government so got the job, and presently najam sethi is the blue eyed boy of the present regime

i have always said that PCB should follow BCCI, how its entepreneurship has led to indian team not only becoming the best team but a filthy rich board as well. everybody accepts that BCCI management is light years ahead PCB and there is consistency in indian team compared to pakistan team, reason is PCB corruption and nothing else.

just seven to ten years ago nobody would compete australian or british boards and now mazimum revenue comes from BCCI and BCCI dictates the ICC.

BCCI practically finished english and aussie monopoly from cricket.

cricket cant be played all year as weather has a big impact

also off season is the time where players really improve their game on a technical level and fitness wise. Doubt this is the case for our players though

You are in good company- Imran Khan also thinks the domestic structure should be reduced to 6 teams.

In terms of OP's post, not sure how I feel about having franchise owners for all competitions though.

Where do you think I got the idea from? :D Imran has been preaching it for the last twenty years because he used to play Sheffield Shield ( NSW ) and saw how less teams ensure quality over quantity.

"Year long season" doesn't mean they play the whole year. Just meant they play FC, ODIs and T20s under one team. Ideally PSL owners buying the domestic teams.

I think theres too many teams and agreements and corruption and all that in place.

Theres no need to buy out teams, or shut down teams. There is a very easy solution to this.

Keep the structure as it is, but add an upper layer to it. Another division on top made up of 6 teams, possibly the PSL ones.

Add a rule that the PCB can only select players from these 6 teams, and in turn the 6 teams have full rights to buy out contracts of players they deem good enough.

The cream will rise to the top. The competitiveness will increase dramatically. The salaries of the 6 teams will increase as they look to sign the best talent, and finally no need to clean up the mess of the current domestic system.

Win. Win.

Remove prime minister and president role from PCB.

It should run like a corporate

More academies for young kids

Cities base franchises, every city should play half of their matches in their own city.
