Might be too early in this tournament for such sentiments but there is a history now ...

So should LQ look at a world beyond Aaqib as Head Coach?

Absolutely, the whole management needs to change. Even that moustache man.

Aqib Javed
Their joke captain
No balance in the overseas picks (Samit Patel??)
No specialist spinner, bits and pieces call-rounders

Why are their Marquee signings consistently failing to stand up for them in the 5th season running? Who is managing these guys?
 
Lahore must have new owners if they can't see what's wrong.
Its criminal that the city that produces the best cricketers has this joke of a team.

Yeah man, enough is enough. This rana guy is a joke; his selections for management are reflection of his capabilities.
 
Don't know how he has managed to be around for 5 years - shocking!

Also, Sohail Akhtar is an awful captain.
 
Lahore management only are good at showing we found 7 feet bowler , we found who can bowl by both hands .
Total clueless . Even Shoaib Akhtar said this management has no vision
 
There's something wrong when you finish last 4 times a row and on track again to repeat the same thing.

They should sack the management and coach and if possible maybe rebrand Lahore Qalandars.
 
Definitely. Should have been sacked after the 2018 (3rd) season itself in which he was the full time coach for the first time. Should just keep him for their talent hunting unless LQ creates some unlikely magic.

Funnily Paddy Upton was fired after the 2 seasons and Aqib in in his 3rd now.

Aqib was a horrible /clueless bowling coach & even worse when he had complete control , LQ captain is a gutsy player but again a clueless captain

For the first time ever it is time to face the real music. Expecting desi besti to be top notch and you can't hide behind overseas seasons anymore.

Aqib and Rana need to answer the choices made behind horribly drafted players, their skipper, and Butt sitting in the dugout.
 
Pathetic this is also hurting PSL as well crowd interest will go away with consistent defeats. 8 matches of LQ are in Lahore
 
Time was yesterday. This is criminal negligence now if delayed any longer. Jokes long over. Whole management needs to be sacked. I mean just look at the kit. The kit alone tells you how pathetic the decision makers are.
 
There are plenty of coaches with better qualifications and record who could do a better job than this guy.

Love how people are bashing Sohail Akhtar after 2 games . . Like guys!! Seriously?! I dont know whether he is a good captain or not . . But what I do know is you have to be either super judgemental or fortune teller to decide whether Sohail is a good captain or not . . Or he can evolve into that role or not . .

But let's take a look at Lahore:

Azhar Ali, Mohammad Hafeez, Brendon McCullum (renowned as one of the best captains in the last couple of decades at least), AB Devilliers, Fakhar Zaman, DJ Bravo . .

All of these guys have captained LQ! LQ has come last in every season!!

So lets not make this about the captain . . It has everything to do with who is calling the shots . . How they're selecting the team . . What they're doing in practice . . What kinda game plans they're getting. . And what's their dressing room environment . . Hint hint . . There has only been one team management constant in the 4 seasons a bit thus far. . Another hint . . It's not the captain
 
Aqib Javed should be sacked! He is a terrible coach and has a really bad track record. He also comes off as extremely self-righteous and stubborn.

Anyway, who’s genius decision was it to play Dilwar in that PSL game? It was supreme idiocy. I could barely believe they could be that stupid.

My feeling is that this Rana guy is getting money from some outside source. So it is not his own money and he is just having a party and there is 0% accountability in Lahore Qalanders.

Jaisa chalraha hai, waisa he chalne do. No skin off Rana’s back. Otherwise he would have made changes in the management staff two or three seasons ago.

Lahore needs to get a professional coach rather than the joker Aaqib....

Need to get rid of the platinum category junk of Fakhar and Haffez

Bring in a stable middle order player who can hold the inning.... ideal would be Faf-Du given he is on verge of retiring

where every other team in the tornament has dashing rumbling keepers, we have iota

proper proper proper spinner

get Zafar Gohar and or Umar Khan .... both not used by their teams... would be ideal for lahore

get rid of shanwari - the most useless bowler in the torunament .... just get rid of him ...

squeeze the player development programe... rather than picking 10, pick solid 3, max 5 and bring proper individiuals
 
Really not that difficult a thing to see - but LQ owners seem to be in a different world.

Aaqib himself said that they had changed their side 4 times so the question is what have they not changed, and are still losing!

One man. He needs to go.
 
He should still be dropped. Lahore Qalanders won there first match after 6 consecutive losses.
 
Shoaib akhter who worked with LQ pretty much just said that when he worked with aqib he had no cricket intelligence like he was only interested in hitters and didn't bother to find middle order batsman
 
Rana brothers have openly mentioned on multiple occasions that they don't play for results, win or lose. They are here to promote their franchise through talent hunt programmes which is a business model. And participate in some other shady leagues apart from PSL.

PSL has allowed it to happen because LQ add a comic factor. So apart from LQ fans, all the others are having a good old laugh.

This was valid for first 2-3 seasons, because they were involved in lot of close games and missed out once based on NRR but it has now become boring and has derailed the quality of the league, it's effectively a 5 team league, they aren't even competing, getting comprehensively beaten almost every time and the worst part is that they do nothing to fix that.

you guys dont understand how franchise sports teams work :facepalm: just because a city produces best cricketer does not mean that city's franchise team will also have that city's best players; its a free market
 
Lahore deserves better. Fault lies with the owner, how can he not see who needs to be shown the door.

PSL is basically a 5 team league now, LQ is just to add the numbers and providing other teams with some match practice.
 
Why Aquib keeps getting blamed though. Surely its got to be the owner as well for having foolish ideas.

Well Aqib and the rest of management. Because they picked these players in the draft. If you look at it another way, biggest blame to owners for sticking with this management for 4 years.

Aaqib Javed is not so bad after all

Getting to a PSL final with 3 players from player development program in playing 11 is a great achievement.

Also he has made great blunders in the draft picks but is Wiese, Dunk and Samit Patel great picks now that they got to a final???

Is Aqib having the last laugh now???

Aqib is the worst of the lot.

It is individual brilliance and luck that bail out Lahore in the end this year. Why would a coach build a team around 10 men? Why hasn't Faizan bowled or batted in two games?
 
Let's remember, they picked *Jaahid Ali* for their original squad and then replaced Salman Butt with *Abid Ali* after Abids non performances in the t20 cup, despite people like Zeeshan Malik or Abdullah Shafique being available . They gave a platinum contract to Shinwari and then barely played him. They didn't give any worthwhile young players a chance. It'll be a travesty if Lahore wins the PSL, because it'll give a false impression of Aquib's squad building abilities.
 
LQ enjoyed the best draft picks almost every year and their results are pathetic. Even this year, they made the playoff by the edge. Couple of wins doesn’t cover for the glaring mismanagement in that franchise.

Indeed. Aqib should be “promoted” to head of the player development program and a new coach appointed in his place

Is it me or LQ are happy to invest in a cheap coach but go for expensive player acquisitions?

Who is expensive? The entire squad looks cheap between Wiese, Patel, Dunk etc (no disrespect to them). Zero top tier names.

And then they play 5 home grown products every match. Rauf, Dilbar, Sohail Akhtar, Faizan.

Their only “expensive” players are Shaheen, Hafeez, and Fakhar. Tamim is a good addition.

I’m talking about previous seasons as well. With players like McCullum, Gayle, AB, Lynn

Aqib Javed can 'step down' gracefully if they win.

TBH Lahore can become multiple champions if they get their coaching staff right for the future, or they will come back stronger next year to win it if they lose tonight.
 
If 4 years of abysmal performances wasnt enough for the Ranas to get rid of Aqib, well then he is now for sure here to stay on for many more years, regardless of whether they win or lose the final.

Needs to go the Pak players are doing nothing while the overseas players are picking up the slack.
 
And not long ago, Aqib was taking cheap shots at Misbah and Waqar(they may not be very good coaches), but one needs to keep their mouth shut if their team has qualified for a final once in 5 attempts.

So true, LQ greatly suffered without Samit Patel & Wiese. I don't understand their Captain Sohail Akhtar, Never played a single international match. Domestics stats are OK at best, yet has been the undisputed Captain. Should have given Captaincy To professor Hafeez.
Today poor Captaincy was on display giving last over to Rauf, when Daniyal was bowling better. Wasted Key players Ben dunk and Hafeez by sending them early and then brought two weak and out of form players in the middle Agha and Sohail Akhtar. When Tim david and Faulkner should have been sent.

Even if Quetta somehow beats KK, LQ will loose to Zalmi for Sure in the eliminators unless they change they bring in new Batsmen.

Multan Sultan is hot favorite now for the title.

Isn't this what RR lectured the franchises about? Sticking to non performing players and coaches out of loyalty, personal relationships rather than running their franchises professionally and this is the reason why the franchises and the PSL had stagnated and not progressed

he agrees to the xi the owners want to play. no world-class coach will agree to using the first xi as a platform to market the development squad players.
 
He's not going anywhere unless there is a major fallout.

Part of the LQ management and clique. The only way he will leave is if there is a change of ownership.
 
I loved him on Game on Hai(PTV). So much better than Shoaib.

He's not going anywhere.

PSL/LQ are God sent gifts for him.
 
The squad that they have assembled is embarrassing. They have players who wouldn't make it into their own domestic franchises as overseas players!

Aqib is solely responsible for the mess they get themselves into year on year.

He is up against accomplished coaches like Peter Moores and Andy FLower who have done it all over the world, Moin khan who is quite a shrewd operator and James Foster who despite being unproven has experience from all over the world.

What has Aqib got in comparison?

To compound this they have brought in a young and experienced captain so there is no leadership at all.
 
Worst part is the buffoon will once again come with explanations and ride everything on bad luck coming in the way of Lahore's fortune.
 
So under Aqib, Lahore produce a champion team. Feels like it is kind of deserved, making Shaheen the captain. Getting Haris and Shaheen to create havoc together.

Buying Zaman Khan as Emerging player. Some really good calls which in hindsight won them the comp.

Didn’t see him around for the final, not sure might be ill.
