Probably the most cringe website in existence. i didn't mind the core premise, sharing business-relevant news and building a network, but people like farming for exposure by posting rehashed memes and pseudo-emotional content gets me. the irony is everyone knows if you're hustling hard on LinkedIn chances are you arent half of what you say you are.

would be interesting to know if anyone has actually got any gain from it, like a better job, etc, i ignored it for years cos it was useless when i was unemployed, but have been forced into being active as my employer wants to promote content on there.

Linkedin posts are proper cringe. Especially the ones where someone has achieved a new cert or a new role.

There is some benefit, like scouring for skills or just messaging or simply verifying a candidates experience.

It gets worse when Indians flood the feed with religious celebrations.

Facebook remains my favourite though.

I get several job offers thanks to Linkedin, in fact I have landed a few jobs through there. Apart from that, its basically a platform for people to pat themselves on their back and toot their own horn.

Good for people reaching out and interacting with recruiters.

Useless for everything else. It's just the same regurgitated rubbish from person to person.

It’s actually amazing if you can hide everything else.
I’m part of groups related to standards, coding.
I stay our if politics and religious topics, absolutely despise the HR baits.

Lmao… it’s true. Forced posts and forced niceties. Everybody is too proper. I guess you can make a niche for yourself if you are “being yourself” and not a clone of the hundreds and thousands of brain dead copy and paste generic posts on there just to be noticed.

Will say, it’s good in terms of hunting for job postings, better than a lot of job sites on the web. Because you can just message the recruiter directly

It is a platform that is for the professionals to keep in touch with other professionals in the industry. It is not made to have fun like other social networks. It is different from other social networks which is why many people think that it's boring or awful.

Absolutely right. Linkedin serves a very specific purpose, and it does it extremely well. It is a great place for professional networking, and is not for attention seeking fools putting out silly memes. Now, no social network can be free from self praising showoffs and Linkedin is no exception. But I still find the quality of the membership and content on Linkedin much better than other social networks.

looks like some people have got genuine good use out of it, which is cool. i guess i just saw one shallow side of it and just found it super cringey.

I don't want to let the world know where I work and what I do to make a living.

In case I want to work 2 jobs, this is straight up detrimental.

I think LinkedIn is okay. You can find jobs there. You can do networking there. You can stay connected with important contacts.
