What is Sarfaraz doing as the mentor for Dolphins? During the PCB Champions One Day Cup 2024, Dolphins were at the bottom of the table.

And in the ongoing PCB Champions T20 Cup 2024, Dolphins are also at the bottom. Sarfaraz has not even brought in any special talent to the team that could be considered a rising star. In bowling, batting, and fielding, the Dolphins are below par.

Sorry but Sarfaraz is not a good mentor, still remember the day he brutally abused Mir Hamza for not finishing a chase for Quetta Gladiators.. although in no way was Hamza supposed to ace that.

Didn't half the Quetta players leave because of how bad of a captain he was? Naseem, Saim etc.
He was openly racist to Phehlukwayo live on air. This isn't a mentor for anyone.

Could become a good mentor. But coaching takes special skills different from being a player that majority of our players lack and do not work on acquiring.

Nay. Sarfaraz is not a coach. He might be a good captain or he was actually, but mentorship has backfired so far for him. His team dolphins were at the bottom in One day cup as well and now in t20 cup again.

Sarfaraz needs to groom some u19 level players at club level instead of wasting time here.

And his fans are missing. If this was any other players this would have had a 1000 replied by now.
Yeah apart from 2015 WC performances

He was a total failed player and after becoming captain instead of being consistent his form continued to drop down and hid behind tailenders

Now failing as coach too

I hope he retires soon this fraud time is over

He was a decent player in SC for tests outside he was useless. Him shouting behind the stumps as if he in a market was an awful viewing. Just like his door is shut in international cricket same needs to be applied here. He's won 1 game in 13 odd games with a team which consists of many Pakistan players.

He is the biggest loser in the Pakistan cricket.
The most useless player ever to play this many matches.

Absolutely terrible player and he should be nowhere any team as a mentor or coach.

Owing to lack of education -- and prevailing societal conditions -- literally two earning options for him:

1. Grow a beard and monetize from islamic shows.
2. Become Unit in-charge of his mqm flavor of choice, be it mohajir, muthaida, jinnahpur etc, and monetize from bhatta khori.

Both choices are mutually exclusive.

Sarfraz was a very good on-field leader of own people, means he is good as a leader among his followers. But, I’m not sure he is that tactful or mature to accomplish a collaborative task with members from diverse backgrounds, some of whom might challenge status co.

Besides, coaching/team management is a different task than leading a cricket team - don’t think he is made for that. From a good player/captain, the transformation towards coaching needs lots of preparations and self-development, which might be challenging for him.

Mentor is the respectful wording of cheerleader, when it comes to cricket- not sure what mentors actually do. Last time I read that Afghans did well in 2023 WC because Jadeja (Ajay) was their mentor….. but then, Afghans went further in 2024 WC without any mentor.

How are the squads selected for this tournament? Is it a draft or are they assigned? He sucks at this but come on his squad is also a complete joke. If he drafted that then yeah it's 100% on him.

This whole mentor thing is nonsense idea anyways and the money all the mentors are getting is crazy.

Sarfaraz Ahmed looks ahead to his new role with Quetta Gladiators

Sarfaraz Ahmed, former captain of Pakistan Test team, led Pakistan to ICC U19 Cricket World Cup title in 2006, ICC Champions Trophy title in 2017 and later led the Gladiators to their maiden HBL PSL title, beating Peshawar Zalmi by eight wickets in Karachi.

Having captained Gladiators for eight years and in record 80 matches since the inception of HBL PSL in 2016, and later as a player in last edition of the league, Sarfaraz was recently appointed as Team Director of Quetta Gladiators.

Talking to PCB Digital on the sidelines of Quetta’s training at the LCCA Ground, Sarfaraz shed light on his new role, describing both the excitement and challenges it entails. He said, “It is an exciting role for me, and I am trying to learn as I have previously worked as a mentor in the two Champions Cup events for team Dolphins.

“It’s not easy for a player to transition into a coaching role, especially after being involved as a player on the field, but over time you need to evolve your skillset and adapt to new responsibilities. I have been with Quetta since the start of the HBL PSL.”

On the league’s development and success over the years, Sarfaraz remarked, “The league has grown immensely with each passing year since its inception in 2016. A lot of effort has gone in from the PCB management and other stakeholders to make it a success and we all need to work together to make it a bigger brand in the coming years.”

Reflecting on Quetta’s 2019 triumph and prospects this year, Sarfaraz said, “Winning HBL PSL in 2019 was a memorable moment. We had reached finals and playoffs for three years and in 2019, the team combination was perfect to clinch the title in Karachi. We will aim to replicate the same performance in this edition and lift the trophy again.”

When asked about the overseas players selected in the Player Draft, the former Test captain responded: “Unfortunately, we didn’t perform well over the last three years, but this time around, our picks are well suited for a T20 tournament. We have picked some great overseas players and are hopeful to perform well in this season.”

Commenting on the young and sensational Hasan Nawaz and Khawaja Nafay, Sarfaraz said, “Hasan Nawaz is a promising player and this is an opportunity for him to enhance his skills in the league and play for the country. Khawaja Nafay is another young player, who was picked in the Emerging category last year, and afterwards played in the recent most domestic season. This is also a chance for him to learn, which will help him grow as a cricketer.”

Finally, when asked how he sees Saud Shakeel as captain of the side, Sarfaraz responded, “Saud Shakeel has all backing of the team. He has shown good leadership, as reflected in our first win. Though we didn’t win our next two games, we have complete faith in Saud to take the team forward.”

No he doesn't. His captaincy was good but it's highly overrated because people use it as a stick to beat Rizwan. He doesn't strike me as coach material.

He could've been a great coach in the 80's and 90's. But, probably not now.

Modern day coaching is more data-driven and less about vibes.

Failed player now failed as coach

Retire please and get lost

And his fans are missing. If this was any other players this would have had a 1000 replied by now.

They also finished last in the champions cup too. Get rid of him before he causes further damage.

Failed player, failed captain, failed coach and mentor.

For them a failed player and coach equals

A) most successful PSL captain
B) Winner of ct 2017
C) Most dominant t20 side during his era
D) First team to reach final under his coaching tenure in psl 2025.

But a succesful captain equals

A) Clown show in 2025 CT
B) 0% win t20 record
C) Ousted as a t20 captain in record time
D) Possibly the worst psl run of all time.

But but but he's a psl winning captain, but but but he reached finals 4x, but but but he beat Australia so bad that 8 of their main players ran away to play BGT 🤣.
