Is Sourav Ganguly really this bad a commentator?

He hardly praised any Pakistani player and is always on how India is better and will score 350 or even 360.

Hardly heard him praise any Pakistani players lol. Not that they are the best out there, but cmon!!!
 
Pretty poor commentary cast overall, very little insight from most of the commentators.
 
Which pakistani player deserved a praise lol ? Ganguly is bitter but he is right.
 
Ganguly is fine, I dislike Manjrekar though.

Does he commentate every over of every innings? Whenever I switch to watch, he seems to be on.

Ponting was on for a few overs today and I thought he was pretty cool but speaks too quickly!

Was thinking the same thing.

Ganguly has praised our players in the past (Haris Sohail). But in this case, there is nothing to praise. From captaincy to individual performances there's nothing.
 
Poor today.

Have a lot of respect for him but too much hatred in him.

Only Warne has been good.
 
To be fair, most of his criticisms were legitimate.

But there were points where he was being a smidgen ridiculous.
 
He is pretty biased and poor in general. Ramiz is also very irritating. Recall him spouting some nonsense along the lines of: "Hasan Ali has a longish run-up for a medium pacer." :facepalm: :facepalm: :facepalm: :facepalm: :69: :69: :69: :69:
 
I never said the Pakistani players deserve a praise but he shouldn't be harping 24/7 just about how India is the better team, when its quite clear it is and him saying it just makes it sound that they are the god of cricket.
 
I don't think ganguly watches cricket these days. His current cricket knowledge is very poor.
 
Rameez irritates me more than anyone else.
Calling Hasan Ali a medium pacer suggests that he should have gone to specsavers!
And every now and then his "posh" grammar school accent gets caught out badly:

I found Ganguly pretty insightful in his earlier commentary stances,but he could use a few Red Bulls though. Sounds like he has diarrhea.

I can't tolerate Manju, Siva -makes me puke thru my ears. Harsha is more like a gossip monger than commentator, he reminds me of Delhi aunties gossiping from their respective balconies across the street.
 
Missing Harsha. The only decent Indian commentator.
 
Man the commentary team these days are boring.

I don't like KP Clarke much either tbh.
 
Nothing wrong with his prediction. They got 320 in 48.
Considering it was last 2 overs and India had Pandya batting with Dhoni, Jadeja and Jadhav to bat..scoring 30 in next 2 overs was realistically possible making it 340 plus in 50.
 
He is a very good commentator and as unbiased as one could get from India.
 
Ganguly is a fantastic commentator and has immense insight into Pakistan cricket. It's just a shame that right now what can be said about pak cricket can be filled in a 30 sec clip. Dada can waste his energy elsewhere. One solution to pcb problems is to hire him as chairman and watch him sort out this mess but then the right wingers in his country will lynch him.

well in the tours in 2004-2005 no Indian was harmed and up to the Mumbai attacks Matter were more cordial between players. Now unfortunately you have a situation where a generation of players has emerged who have hardly played against nor know each other.

But I was talking about being lynched in the media aka harsha and sidelined for important posts in india
 
Dada is a great commentator, always a pleasure hearing dada, sanju manju and bhogle the brown noser are the worst India has the offer in terms of commentary
 
Absolutely garbage. Almost starts crying when Pakistan are doing well. Hinstely one of the worst commentators I've heard. Talks too much too
 
Loved how his voice cracked when he thought the ball was going for 6 but it ended up being a catch
 
Ganguly is arrogant. The only teams he respects are Aus and SA. The rest of them are nobodies for him.

Absolutely awful commentator, I noticed when India played all he did was just praise them consistently.

Some said he is overly biased when commentating on India game however even today just constantly bringing up India this that and the other.

Smug and arrogant individual.
 
I like Nasser Hussain the most.Athar Ali should be brought back in Bangladesh due to fitness issues.

manjrekar is quadrillion times better commentator than ganguly

Clearly difference of opinion, you guys would love meek, brown-nosing characters like manju and bhogle, from an Indian perspective I love dada cause he doesn't bend over to appease the opposition, to each his own, I don't ever want to see bhogle or manju in the comm box but give me dada, dravid and even tracer bullet ravi all day long

Lol he's a commentator, there's not supposed to be an opposition in the commentator's box. His job is to provide fair objective analysis, which he clearly isn't. He can say what he likes ultimately, it's just that most people don't wanna hear someone jerk off his home team at every opportunity.

What do youyou mean by most people don't like his commentary? Only Pakistan fans don't like. All indians like his commentary.

Well yeah... the team he's constantly praising is India, you would assume most Indian fans enjoy that. I'm saying from a neutral perspective it's not enjoyable.

I don't think you can call yourself neutral when he is dissing your team, you are as biased as indian fans are in this case, you dislike him because he tells it as it is, he says pakistan are a poor team, he was proven right when playing against india and scoreboard shows me he might be proven right today too.

He was just as bad in the IND vs SA game and the IND vs SL games... My issue with him isn't that he's bashing Pakistan, some of the other commentators bash them just as much and it's warranted alot of the time. It's the relentless homerism towards India that make him a bad commentator.

Again that depends on what the tournament result ends up being, we did beat SA by a huge margin, SL was a blip and how many neutrals expected india to be beaten by SL tell that story, if india wins or atleast ends up runner up, as gyrating and biased as he might seem to you he will be proven right as the team did do well.
 
Most boring commentator ever. He makes Athar Ali look more entertaining. Listening to Ganguly it's like some sort of bed time stories going on! Such boredom to d..th!
 
He's not such a bad commentator but in this tournament in every India match he goes on like how India will do this do that India will score 360.Quite frankly India never look like a team to me who wants to score 360's they are quite content with 310 and 320's.
 
I thought he would be decent because he gave decent interviews and was well spoken in the past.

Very disappointed in his commentary - his bias against Pakistan was very evident. Try to hide it at least.

Sanjay Manjreaker is a much better and fair commentator. Might not always agree with him but he doesn't sound smug at least.
 
The asian commentators are poor in general, except for Sanga. English commentators are the best because they give the best analysis and aren't biased.

Ganguly does talk a lot of truth but sadly everything revolves around India or Kohli and what it/he would be doing in the circumstances unfolding in a game that has absolutely nothing to do with either India or Kohli.

Oh, amd everything with Ganguly is 'very'.... 'very, very well bowled', 'very, very high in the air', 'very poor captaincy'...

Sashtri was neutral. Ganguly is a bit biased. If India was playing South Africa and the English commentators brought England I'd be annoyed to. "Shilaankaa"
