Is the Australia batting really that good or are they home bullies cashing in on flat pitches?

For some of the PP members that are unaware, the current Australian batting lineup is perhaps statistically the strongest in cricket history., Now of course, hardly anybody would agree to that. Let's check the stats of the active players playing today's test.

So what's your opinion on this lot? Are they on par with the GOAT batting lineups or just home bullies with inflated stats?

A very good batting lineup. I'd add Alex Carey to that list as well . They can bat in Asia, England and the Southern Hemisphere without resorting to high risk shots either.

Best and most versatile lineup going around. The problem for them will be to find replacements for Khawaja and Warner in the near future.
 
When was the last time Australia even played a test away?

Their batsmen have constantly found it difficult to score runs in 10 months of the year vs the 2 they play at home. Let's see how they perform in India next year.
 
They have cashed in on some flat wickets against avg bowling atks like pak and wi. Let's see how well they preform overseas
 
Steve Smith is probably the best test barsman since Bradman. Others are good too but I dont think Marnus is as good as his stats suggest. His average will eventually go down to mid to late 40s
Warner is past it as well
 
Which teams have the best batting averages in away matches, how do the top teams compare to Australia in away matches.
 
Alex Carey is garbage

Will be exposed so hard by any decent attack
 
Their stats are inflated by playing a lot of games at home. Away, they have played vs Pakistan and Windies in recent times but Pakistan pitches were absolute belters.

Yeah people are reading way too much into their performance on the dead flat roads of Pakistan. The India tour will be the real litmus test for their batting. Where they will actually be challenged by quality spin-bowling and where they have to bat on tracks where the ball starts turning square from Day 1.
 
Labuschage has 9 out 10 hubdreds in australia , warner and smith too have a lot if their 100s ib autralia. Doesnt mean that they are bad outside but are beast @home ala babar azam.
 
Happy for Khawaja but it's no surprise that Australian wickets are mostly easy to bat on. The next Ashes series will tell us a lot about both Australia and England's batsmen.

LOL at comparing smith with babar.
Smith has 774 in 3.5 tests in Eng and 500 in a test series in India. In fact he has struggled in Australia in the last couple of years. Babar has one hundred in SENA and at home in Pakistan Babar has played on some of the worst pitches anywhere in the World. Literally the last 4 tests should have been Draws
 
Those who think Australian wickets are the easiest to bat on are either living in the 2012-2015 era or have convenient conveniently ignored the wickets that Pakistan produces

The wickets are very good and amongst the best in the world. Batting conditions were extremely tough in the Ashes last year.

There's something for everyone. Good bowlers can use the bounce on offer and batsmen who apply themselves can score runs.

Also, Australian batting was good enough to draw the Ashes in England, win a series in Pakistan, fight a hard fought series in India which they narrowly lost 2-1 and draw a series in Lanka.

Babar has done nothing of note outside asia , i know that.

Just saying that they are beast at their home , smith is almost as equally good outside australia.

Australian wickets are “easy” to bat on but the last time Pakistan did not lose a Test match in Australia, Javed Miandad was still playing international cricket.

I guess this says everything that needs to be said about Pakistan’s batting talent.
 
Australian pitches have become flatter and the boundaries have also become shorter. Only the new Perth stadium has some good pace and bounce.
To he honest, I miss the thrill watching and following a cricket season in Australia. It was great watching in the 80s and 90s.
 
Again , won in Pakistan , drew in SL, won a Test in India and drew the England Ashes.

Who has done better away? Lol
