Is the state of our cricket team a sad reflection of our state?

I'm pretty sad and really angry. If the mods think this should go to the time pass section, please move it. No matter how much I hear the Indians are corrupt and discriminate and whatever they hand in hand also do what's best for their country. India has a good cricket team and a film industry that competes with Hollywood on a global scale. They hosted the common wealth and now hosting the under 16 world FIFA tournament. They are known for their IT skillls and are competing with every nation on a global scale.

It's pretty sad that even though both nations formed at the exact same time and even with us having a huge advantage in not having a billion people we are way behind in every single platform, economic development, sports, education.

Not a fan of mixing politics and sport, but sports does tell you something about the state of a nation. Corruption, greed and shortcuts is pervasive in Pakistani society and cricket. Number of Pakistani cricketers lost to spotfixing in recent years is a testament to this sad fact. Hard work is overlooked, miracles, talents, and superstitions are championed. The very structures of Pakistani cricket like it's civilian institutions are rotten.

This has produced a subdued, cowardly and frightened teams. Gone are the days when proud and fearless Pakistani cricketers used to torment opponents. Now they just fold before the game even starts. Also speaks volumes about level of education in the country. Previous Pakistani cricketers spoke respectable English. Now they look confused and throw random words and phrases. As Trump would say #SAD

Couldn't have written it any better myself.

Basically, there is little talent to speak of. The skill set in general is just very very poor.

It certainly is. When all the civil institutions of a country are not performing, why would PCB be an exception? The system is same, the people are same, the political backing is same, why would end result be any different? The BCCP of past used to be run from a single room; had 4/5 employees, yet its performance was exceptional. Now this organization is cash cow for every past cricketer & bureaucrat.

And why just stop at PCB? If an entire nation is reeking of nepotism and corruption, how can cricket players be any different? That is the reason that fixing allegations do not surprise me at all. They might be stars for some but they are the same corrupt people Pakistan is known to have in all other fields.
