Apart from a good 50 he has been awful in the field and poor with the ball. He seems to have lost all of his drift and control, even Shezhad looked more threatening.

does this mean the end for Abdur Rehman ?

The following things seem to be stacked against him

1. Zulfiqar presumably taking over in ODIS while Ajmal gets his tests, a good show there and I think it will mean another test call up, plus its clear to see who is the more gifted bowler
2. Raza Hasan has been banging on the doors of selection for a while now, hard to see how much longer he can be ignored in ODIs
3. Beamer Gate will always be brought up when AR is around
4. Misbah is in a weaker position as a captain
5. Yasir Shah had a good domestic season last year, Mustaq Ahmed may favor him.

The way things are i reckon Zulfiqar will get called for the AUS series unless he has a real shocker in the ODIS

The only way I see Abdur Rehman staying is if Ajmal gets banned.

This has been his first bad series, deserves one more series to prove himself. After all we have been persisting with Misbah ul Haq as a player and captain for the last 4 years.

Rehman has never been a class performer. He was just lucky to be playing alongside Ajmal and his best period coincided with Ajmal's peak which was no coincidence.

He's at the level of Panesar, Randiv, Ojha etc who would have all looked great in Ajmal's shadow. As soon as the latter has started to decline, he has been badly exposed.

Babar is better and so was Kaneria.

hes been extremely poor this series His poor performance has been magnified because of how good herath has been in contrast

Basit Ali claims he has lost power in his shoulder and can't be as effective as before.

he took a few wickets in this series and he can bat a bit. would be stupid to drop someone for a few failures as he's done good before.

Time to drop him, he ain't got the bite no more. He is a "second fiddle" bowler unluckily for him Ajmal isn't looking good at the moment with the pressure of leading the bowling attack (again and again) and being reported is obviously taking it's toll on him mentally.

So Rehman is pretty much done for as I don't see him stepping up into the main role if Ajmal gets done by the ICC so it's best to drop him and try someone from the younger gen (fortunately we have some decent options in spin bowling unlike batting and pace bowling). I'd prefer Raza and maybe allow Babar some time as well and hopefully Ajmal is cleared him and Raza can be the frontline bowlers with Babar, Gohar, Qadir, Karamat on a rotation basis.

Abdur Rehman probably performs alot better in practise against Pakistani batsmen then he does on the pitch against the Sri Lankans

he is done. no venom nothing at all. but it would be a bad decision to drop him after one bad series given that he had performed well in the prior matches.

this is the problem with pakistan if a bowler can bat a bit and if he take wickets once in every 3 match or 3 inns, he will be persisted for his bat a bit...

Basically

a bowler should do the job of a bowler.... batting is an extra bonus

a batsman should do the job of a batsman...bowling is an extra bonus...

And an allrounder should contribute with both bat and ball, if not atleast contribute more in one dept.....

I think Pakistan need to bring in Yasir Shah , he can contribute with the bat also.

Raza is good , but poor fielder and nothing with bat ....... you need players who are multi skilled.

yasir shah could be a good addition with mushtaq as spin consultant...is he a good fielder...

Abdur Rehman says Saqlain Mushtaq is his favourite as his doosra was famous so he would like to pair with him.

Lol i wonder how he feels or how does the PCB feel about his elder brother Atta ur Rehmans rants against the PCB and fellow cricketers. Will this have a detrimental impact on Abdur Rehman's coaching career?
