Jacob Bethell vs Maaz Sadaqat: Two similar profiles, two rising talents; Who will have a better career?

Both made their international debuts at the age of 20. Both are left handed batters who bowl left arm spin and are also very good fielders.

Jacob Bethell has already become part of England’s squads across all three formats and has shown strong signs of being a future superstar.

On the other hand, Maaz Sadaqat was brilliant in just his second ODI, scoring a blistering 75 off 46 balls and also picking up 3 wickets for 23 runs.

Two young all-rounders with very similar skill sets and plenty of promise.

Who do you think will end up having the better international career?

Maaz looks like the real deal. Way more talented than Bethel.

Bethel will obviously play more matches in a short span of time and might statistically look better but Maaz will decide the outcomes of more big matches and will leave a far greater impact on the game across all formats.

Let Maaz survive in international cricket for a year before even starting a comparison.

Maaz has played two international white ball games against a weak opposition, and he failed in one.

Bethel - 6 Tests, 21 ODIs and 31 T20is. He recently played one of the great T20 innings against world champions India and he almost chased down a 250 score. The range and power of his strokeplay was breathtaking.

@Bhaijaan, yeh acting series rukni nahi chahiye. :yk :inti

Bethell. Bethell has a 100 in tests vs Australia, a 100 in Odis vs SA, a 100 in T20is vs India in India in a high pressure World Cup semifinal. Also note- Bethell was a child prodigy kinda like Vaibhav Suryavanshi identified very early.

Maaz Sadaqat has a 50 and some cheap wickets so far vs Bangladesh .

Wish Maaz all the best but he would have to do something spectacular against a big team to enter into the conversation.

I would say the odds are 1:25 loaded against Maaz to win this battle

Going statistically maaz is superior to bethel as far as domestics are concerned but talent and temperament wise bethel is a different gravy.
There is no comparison at all.

Bethell is given opportunity after opportunity

I can’t believe Bethell’s stats, those are some really mediocre stats to be honest to don an English cap.

He has improved himself no doubt that, and that’s what you see from top teams where average to decent players improve and become world beaters. Bethell’s knock vs India in the semi-final was one of the best in recent memory.

This comparison is stupid, Maaz has done nothing to be considered for this conversation. A Pakistani player having potential means nothing, as recent past has shown all our players only decline in terms of skill.

Bethel is another level right now mentally. Guy takes a lot of responsibility for England as if he is their main batter in his own head. I like that about him.

Maaz Inshallah evolves like that mentally too. Something I never saw Babar do, who always needed someone to hide behind.

Bethell played a good innings in the semi final but it was the best pitch ever seen in a knockout...... His ODI record isn't great will likely improve. Maaz by playing such an innings surely will make runs in ODIS as pitches are decent in different countries.... Needs a run in T20s too.

Bethel has done his job, Maaz is yet to take that step. BD sluggish wickets are not ideal for ANY batsman to judge. I am not saying that Bethel is better than Maaz since he also failed against Pak on a challenging surface in SL while thrived on Indian road, but WC pressure is something else vs a bilateral game.

England still lost the match its harsh to blame a young player in that situation but ultimately he didn't win the game for his team.... If he did then we are talking about a special innings but he didn't.

Bhaijaan why do you troll us so much. And what’s the deal with acting Pakistani?

Well, I did say something along that line.

Bethel is only slightly ahead since he performed well ON A ROAD in India in a WC game. However, he did fail on a more challenging surface in SL against Pak.

Maaz has not got the opportunity as of yet to show his talent at a stage which requires more mental strength. I usually stay away from comparisons.

Maaz has the “It” factor.

If you want to play it safe then yes, by all means feel free to answer with Bethell. Your favorite ice cream is probably vanilla. And that’s okay.

But if you are a cricket fan who watches the game for the thrill and the vibes and miss the sport having a berserker personality who can blitz through a line up out of nowhere and light up a dead pitch with stunning stroke play- then the answer is clearly Maaz.

Am I hyping him up? Yes. Why shouldn’t I? #MaazMania is real, and bowlers probably already have their note taking app out and their coaches plugging prompts into ChatGPT / Gemini on how to restrain him.

What kind of comparison is this?? Maz has only played two matches, for heaven's sake!!!

This is how Pakistan runied the young talent and Pakistan biggest supporter @RyanRyan10 is started this thread. Lol

:kp

LOL

What a useless comparison this is... A player played 2nd game of his career and people already started comparing him with a player who has made his name at big stage already..

Stop these comparisons, as they bring no value to players... Not worth it

So young talents are ruined because some random cric fan posts an opinion on an online forum? What kind of logic is this?

let him play for at least a year before being compared to established player.

I distinctly remember @The Bald Eagle starting a thread calling Hasan Nawaz "the second Coming of Inzi." He lost his place in the Pakistan team ever since.

:klopp :kp

His career isn't over yet.

And what someone posts here has no impact on performance of an international player. We are not their coaches or teammates.
