Jinnah was shown on Sky Box Office about 5 or 6 years ago , in fact before the film was oficially released here in the UK.

i thought it was a good movie

Christopher Lee being as brilliant as ever

It could have been a lot better but they ran out of money half way through and then had to rush it.

Though I didn't like the idea of Jinnah being in a time machine and looking back at his life. There was no need for that. It was quite tacky.

I kinda liked that actually, because

1) he was explaining why he made some of the decisions.
2) Secondly, the ending where the angel asks him to apologise to one person and he apologises to the young girl because her mom died during migration. I though that was pretty good.

Overall a very good movie IMO, I think the junoon song for this movie was brilliant aswell.

Yeah dat was one good song... went sumthing like this " Junoon se aur Ishq se Milti hai Azadi.... "

Downloaded it last year - didnt rate it. This 'time machine' concept was silly (imo) and a bit tacky - didnt realise they had run out of maoney - but it does look like a 'film of 2 halves'.

Christerpher Lee was outstanding (as ever).

Christopher Lee has died. What a life he had. Served in WW2, was in the SAS, was a Nazi hunter and then had a great acting career.

Christopher Lee dies at the age of 93

Sir Christopher Lee has died at the age of 93 after being hospitalised for respiratory problems and heart failure.

I remember when he was chosen to play Jinnah. There was an uproar over selecting an actor who had previously played the role Dracula.

Lee was brilliant as Jinnah in that movie. Loved the movie as well.

Could have been better but still it was an accomplishment.

Great film and it won plaudits at some of the film festivals it was shown at. The time travel idea was very novel and very clever. Lee was brilliant throughout the movie. I remember an interview he did with simon mayo and mark Kermode on radio five live on the bbc a few years ago. When asked what his most memorable film role was he said playing Jinnah was the pinnacle for him. When he was asked why this film was distributed more widely he said it was because it attempted to portray Muslims in a favourable right and Jinnah in a favourable light versus the crazy image portrayed nowadays. It is telling that it couldn't find a distributor in the west. Should tell you all you need to know..

Remember watching this movie at a cinema in Saddar as 8 or 9 year old.

Epic! Chris Lee called it his most important and favorite work

This isn't the interview you speak of (I don't think) however he expresses similar views here.

I lost my original copy of this movie and now it's impossible to get a hold of or even to download a decent print.

Saw it in college about 7-8 years ago,has Shahsi kapoor in it as well.Well acted but didn't like the narration felt it was wayy too unrealistic considering it was a real story.Loved the Song though 'Junoon see aur Ishq se Milti hain Azaadi'.

Excellent movie, but not an epic one like Gandhi. For some reason, it is received mixed views in Pakistan and I guess it had to do with usual hangups that our prevalent in our society.

Too many differences on what Jinnah stood for between the different factions.

no it was on the radio..but he was very proud of his work on the film and he really genuinely felt those in the know who decide what gets distributed , didn't want to let this movie get out there.

DDL would be my second choice. Not so sure about Spielberg.

yes and then pigs would fly and warp drive will let us colonise other planets...fact is it will never ever happen. Hollywood will never show Muslims in a truly positive light. Especially now, just google what ridley scott said about getting funding for his movie exodus..

What has showing Muslims in a positive light got to do with a historical figure as long as it's accurate?

As for showing them in a positive light, there are quite a few movies. Currently Kingdom Of Heaven (Salahuddin Al Ayoubi), Syriana, Lion of the Winter and The MEssage come to mind.

your being naïve. This is what Chrisopher Lee himself said. Also you need to read this book:https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Reel_Bad_Arabs

it has everything to do with the way Muslims are to be portrayed...read about it..

Well we have been the goto bad guys since the fall of the Russians and even then our resume wasn't that good. The current state of Islamic affairs isn't really helping as well.

Would you being a Pakistani make movies about how great America is given their recent imperialistic ventures.

Has the Pakistan film industry not produced any film on their history or Mr Jinnah?

Im gonna be watching this movie tonight

I jsut realized that while we celebrate Azadi day, we should also appreciate to thsoe you gave up their life for this day aswell

Watched it two years ago.

Would have been interesting to show his initial rise in British jurisprudence, more of his stay in self-imposed exile in England during the 30’s, and they really do not explain clearly why he disliked Gandhi initially.

One of the most disgusting portrayals in a historical epic was Mr. Jinnah’s role in “Gandhi”. The actor himself, Alyque Padamsee, stated it was highly inaccurate.

Yet, the jealous, bitter, and frustrated portrayal of Jinnah is the only view some Westerners have of the man.

Ridiculous beyond words.

Its sad that our media aint that good enough to make a good movie about our leader.

This movie I believe was censored and not released internationally due to fears of Mr. Jinnah’s opinions on minorities.

Mr. Lee himself stated stated it had to do with the “free to attend their mosques, churches, and temples” line.

I'm pretty sure they'll do a terrible job if they tried but the real issue is that the movie may create too much controversy. Many factions will have trouble agreeing over what Jinnah actually stood for.

Film industry has improved a lot in Pakistan in the last few years. I'm sure they'd do fine a job.

Full respect to Sir Christopher Lee for his portrayal, legendary actor.

Pray to God that a movie about Jinnah isn’t made anytime soon in Pakistan. Our film industry is garbage

Wonderful movie. Hv watched it a lot of times.. one of my fav movies on history of India and paksitan..

We need to produce it on a big budget level making it a cinematic experience. The original was a low budget TV movie not doing justice to the great man.
