Following the warm-up match between Bangladesh and India, I have been able to listen to John Wright's commentary pretty damn well. I followed his commentary when BD toured NZ, much like other commentators seemed pretty biased and had little knowledge about Bangladesh.

Today, I have not even heard him mention much about Bangladesh, well perhaps because he doesn't know a thing about us.

Obviously Bangladesh aren't a top tier side. But question mark on ICC or broadcaster for having a comm who doesn't know about one of the top 8 teams who has been a regular feature in world cups and other ICC events, including QF of last world cup.

He was a commie on the pak game, was quite knowledgeable in my opinion. Gave some good advice for pak to turn around their bad performances/run. Maybe like you say, he may not be that familiar with bengladesh cricket.

Some examples about his biases? I have a lot respect for that man. So would like know more about him?

He hasn't mentioned anything about Bangladesh cricketers or what they are doing in this game. It seems like he doesn't even know who Shakib is among the key allrounders in the world. Doesn't seem like he knows much about Mashrafe, Mustafiz. and i think he is not even familiar to half the players in our XI.

He just blabbered about India, as if Bangladesh doesn't exist. As if BD is played by bots.

He is knowledgeable but what is a comm who only talks about one team.

He definitely seems knowledgeable, not doubting that

He was not only a great coach but is a great talent scout too.He was also the one who spotted Bumrah and invited him to MI camp.

He may not know much about some teams as he's not full time commentator but it's interesting to listen to his views

Of course ke knows Mustafiz. He is the head talent scout of the Mumbai Indians. Mumbai signed Mustafiz after Hyderabad didn't sign him after his injuries.

Well in that case it sounds more ridiculous that he hardly talked about the player he "scouted".

Im not watching the game, but if what you are saying is true, then that is poor. Theres only 10 teams playing in the world cup and i would expect the commies to have good knowlege of all 10 teams. If they are not familiar with some teams, then they should have done research on that team and players. Again, i would say ive always been impressed with john wright as a commie and i am suprised if he hasnt done his homework.

Maybe it's just that he is in India all the time and has been very successful and loved head coach of team India. May have developed a little bit of a unconscious bias.

It was the Ganguly Wright combination which turned around Indian Cricket. However Greg Chappell accussed John Wright of being too soft on the senior players in the team which allowed them to dictate terms. However it later came out the normally docile Wright one day out of the blew as coach lost it on Sehwag when the later threw away his wicket in England in 2002 and Wright slapped him and left him in tears and later had to apologize to the entire squad for the incident.

Indian comms, particularly sunil, Laxman, bhogle talk about BD cricket.more being an Indian himself. I am not worried about bias, but I think an international commentator should have his research done. It seemed like he didn't.

Kiwi Commentator and Bias is not a new thing just listen to Ian Smith he is to the next level. Simon Doul and Danny Morrison are a little better

He is bearable but who selected Clarke and Slater for the job?. Both these commentators are horrible

I think Clarke has been alright...nothing special...but horrible is a bit harsh...

John wright helped India a lot as a coach. But i think it should be mandatory for commies to do their reseearch. They cant just turn up without any knowledge of players and teams.

I heard him praise the Bangladesh bowling . Ganguly showered praises on captain too.

Think he is the fairest guy around . Speaks less but speaks truth . Alllows u to enjoy the game . Slater and him made a good pair with Ganguly

Commentator who knows nothing about the team he's commentating on? Sounds more like Ramiz Raja commenting on Pakistani cricket. :))

John Wright scored 25,000 First Class runs - three times as many as Virat Kohli has scored so far.

That makes him supremely qualified to talk about cricket. When he talks, I listen!

Thought he was a good commie, good insights and speaks well, too bad he doesn’t know about legendary world beaters Bangladesh who have won tournament after tournament since their inception in 1999 who got knighthood after 2015 WC Quarterfinals.
