What's new

Junaid Khan 2.0

Doesn't mean much. Wasim hypes up anyone. Even Wahab.

Junaid is finished (wasn't much there to begin with tbh).

He is depending solely on variations and changes of pace

IMO he will only be useful for T20Is if selected

Would love to see junaid in Australia but only if he is back to his best. However I have a real distaste for how much Pakistani cricketers love whining to the media when they are rightly being ignored by selectors.

I can't believe I'm saying this but surprisingly, he looks good. The thing I was most worried about was that he'd lost pace but he looks to be bowling as far as ever (by his own standards).

Have to say he has bowled brilliantly. The yorkers were spot on.

Junaid' confidence is back great death bowling. Wahab is finished and should never play in the team.

figures dont do justice to how well bowled today.

brought Pak back in the match by taking wicket of Mohammed otherwsie 250+ was on cards.

Excellent comeback bowled well with control CI watchers will bash him because they are just CI watchers..
Far better than living off past Amir and spray gun Wahab....

Junaid's death bowling was what we were missing for a long time. He should be played over Wahab. Junaid and Amir complement each other.

Brilliant death over bowling from juni.i hope he is always first pick in odis than useless wahab

I feel junaid should come in as 1st change.

It should be amir and hasan who should be opening the bowling.

Hasan ali has a lot of potential with the new ball.

Also right and left hand combination at the start is unsettling for the batsmen.

Hasan opened in the first match and got smacked. Junaid and Amir complement each other well.

Junaid taking wickets is as bad as Hafeez scoring runs. Both are equally damaging in the long run, and both will cost us in the Champions Trophy.

We're not going to win the CT anyways.
Besides runs or no runs hafeez isn't going anywhere

From what I was able to watch, he bowled pretty well and pace was decent as well. Definitely better than Wahab

Yes. Because Junaid is 36 year old, just like Hafeez.

Junaid did a decent job yesterday. Should definitely start over Wahab in the champions trophy. I think he can be of good use towards the end of the innings.

Age doesn't matter when you are a TTF.

Some players evolve with time. When junaid first came he had an atrocious bowling action. He worked on his alignment and is better. I think he has a decent attitude. May not be great but he's not a TTF

I'm not sold that his death bowling was as great as people say.

After 6 overs he was 6-0-31-2. He allowed 29 runs off his last 4 overs without a wicket. Granted, he didn't commit any extras, but he essentially had two good overs and two bad ones (4, 12, 5, 8). If he was defending a lead, I'd be okay with the last one as WI was already out of the game, but 8 runs off his last over when Hasan Ali had already dragged the Windies back isn't great.

Junaid has been a breath of fresh air. So grateful to Inzamam for bringing him back and allowing him to partner Amir, who has also been good, despite not meeting people's unrealistic expectations. I can sense a five-for coming for both Amir and Junaid, hopefully during the Champions Trophy.

Yes, conceding eight overs at the death is criminal. Let's kick him out and bring back Sohail Khan.

Bowling action is still illegal, and not sure about his decent attitude. Last summer, he was contemplating moving to England permanently because he was not getting appreciated in Pakistan, even though his performance has been terrible at all levels since 2013-2014. Doesn't sound like someone who has the attitude to fight for his place in the team.

Typical OTT reaction. I was simply pointing out that he was running hot and cold at the death and you think I'm attacking him as a player. Sure, he did well overall, but let's not get overemotional. He has a lot of work to do before we can consider him a reliable long-term contributor.

He's been great at the death for years now and only injury hampered his development as a bowler. His death bowling won us a series in South Africa, back in 2013, so his pedigree at the tail-end of the innings is well known. Conceding anything less than six runs an over is gold at the death and 8-12 isn't especially bad when it was a case of good batting rather than poor bowling.

I thought in the 3rd ODI Junaid showed some good signs. With a bit of luck his figures could have been a lot better.

It's great to see Junaid bowling well. Long may it continue.

It seems we may finally have three very decent bowlers who can bowl quality up top as well as at the death.

Agreed,it is very good to see three pacers who use their brain when bowling and are special in specific areas of bowling.

Single-handedly lost another match for his team, not long after gifting Islamabad United two matches in the PSL. In all three matches, the so-called great death bowler got demolished at the death.

Had to wait till a domestic match to spew your diatribe against Junaid. You went missing during the Windies series :afridi

Yes I missed his match-winning spells in the West Indies series. Was the standout bowler & was very economical as well. Looking forward to his match-winning efforts in the Champions Trophy.

Glad you see the light.

I didn't watch Junaid bowl but on PP there has been a mixed response so not sure how he actually did because figures can be deceiving, it's in Pakistans interests if he is bowling well and swinging it both ways at pace though :akhtar I rarely follow the pak ODI team, tend to go to bed after Kami gets out :yk always try to get a look at the new leggie as well.

Ask what Syed1 has to say, with a straight face.

Can you answer him syed bhai? It'll be interesting to see an honest opinion. Also pls post the clips of him swinging the ball both ways (OR JUST ONE).

Really dying to see those spells he's been bowling.

Good to see that Junaid is not a domestic bully. Can't wait to see him bowl to Rohit and Kohli in the Champions Trophy.

guys, just remember he was only in West Indies on tuesday and only landed back in Pakistan on Friday. There is a huge time difference between WI and Pakistan and so he didn't have much time to get over jetlag before playing. Hopefully he does better later on

Just bowled 0-76 with one maiden.

I doubt that jet-lag was the issue.

He saves his best for the international level (so no need to define him by his stats based on some random domestic match:srt) as we have seen when he humiliated India in India and helped Pakistan become the only asian team to dethrone SA in SA with regards to an ODI series.

Stop it with your bacha party logic  go back to watching that fake wrestling crap and losing your mind over morons like Roman zero intelligence Reigns.

Surprise surprise....the great death-bowler gets demolished again.

Its always been the way for him. He is not unlucky just lacking application.

Hasan Ali gets wickets, there no luck or lack of it, he uses his brain.

Junaid will get you 2 wickets every other game and regularly bowl horror spells.

Not good enough. I would rather have a quality spinner over him in the ODI team.

I hope he performs in the rest of the games so he isn't dropped from the match against India.

Junaid was not dropped due to his performance but due to injury and it takes sometime to get into rhythm which he proves he is capable of over the time.

During the WC2015 campaign I was under the impression that he doesn't wanted to be the part of squad because he wants to get married but latter on I get to know its because of his injury but now I am happy he is getting his form and hoping he will continue the same.

Next 5 Odis are against Sri Lanka. Hope he can get some rhythm and confidence from it.

Junaid still hasn't achieved his 2012 form but despite that he is an excellent foil to Amir as an opening partner. People forget the role of the supporting acts. While Amir was running riot against the Indian top order in the CT final, Junaid at the other end had stellar bowling figures something like 9 runs in 5 overs (I forget the exact figures). This kept the pressure on the Indians and led to dismissals.

Obviously Junaid needs to regain his 2012 pace and ability to rapidly seam the bowl. That would make him a killer bowler. For now he is a mainstay of the Pakistan pace bowling troika acting as a good support for Hasan and Amir.

If you listen to PP experts they will always suggest some unknown, unpolished young kid who hasn't even had his domestic debut over seasoned professionals like Junaid.

Junaid, Rumman and Usman fighting, for the 3rd seamer's spot.

I always think he's something in him.

Still can't overcome the eye opening spells he bowled against us.

in his entire career he had only two matchwinning series
one against us(INDIA)
other against sri lanka
apart from that he was just used to dry up runs
