Seeing as how a couple of undeserving players--an allrounder who hasn't contributed anything of note for 2 years, and a flashy opener who has failed to convince in a decade--have hampered the team, it might be worthwhile remembering the Junaid Zia example.
Nepotism is not new to Pakistan cricket but when chief selector Aamir Sohail chose Junaid Zia--a hardworking but fairly ordinaryy seamer who continues to do well in FC games--in 2003 in attempt to please the chairman, Tauqir Zia, there was an outcry, especially after Junaid failed to make an impression against Bangladesh.
However unlike many parchis who have stuck on and harmed the team, Junaid Zia took what I consider to be a very respectable and laudable move; he saved everybody concerned a great deal of embarrassment and harm by omitting himself from the squad under the excuse of studying for his examinations. It was a smart and unselfish move and I do hope that a couple of non-contributing players can perhaps follow that route and bite the bullet.
