Watched it this evening. What Mrs Robert calls "a movie" instead of "a film" like Dunkirk.

Wasn't bad. I preferred BvS. You could see the point where Zac Snyder got sacked and Joss Whedon took over - it when from grim and gritty, to jokey like The Avengers.

Introduced too many characters too fast - the Aquaman, Flash and Cyborg didn't get much backstory. I misseed the usual driving Hans Zimmer score. The villain, like most of Jack Kirby's New Gods, is a bit silly.

There was one genuinely effective scene where the League
bring Superman back from the dead
and he isn't happy about it.

If you watch the after-credits scene you'll see just how much Deadpool is a Deathstroke rip-off too.

Made 96 million on the 3 day box office. The lowest of any DCEU franchises to date. THE DC comics world will make nowhere close to Avengers did.

Big losses for Warner Brothers.

41% on Rotten tomatoes, that score might reflect the true quality of the movie, but damn thats really affected the box office this time.

Snyder wasn’t sacked. His daughter passed away so whedon stepped in to complete it. But there is so much wrong with it. It was just an ok film.

The firepower they have, they should have broken all sorts of records. I mean these characters are legendary. Even a minute note would have made a half decent interesting film out of them

What a joke.

Batman has been reduced to a rich guy with toys instead of the world's greatest detective and the most physically fit and strong human.

The Flash was the only positive out of this movie.

The plot was so simple a 10 year old would've guessed it as well.

What the heck are the screenwriters and director at DC thinking when they make movies???

Absolute garbage. shaz619 I told you it will be. Can't wait till this superhero trend dies off already. It's killing good cinema. Clueless people with their awful taste will still hype up the next DC movie after the trailer comes out.

Nah. Marvel's doing too good a job with its movies.

They're obviously better than dc but they're just the same thing over and over again. They're making a lot of money so the trend won't die anytime soon but even their movies are nothing special

I expected better.Batman was ruined(not due to Afflecks acting),Aquaman and the Flash were the only good parts of the film but even then, some of the humor was forced.Superman vs the rest of the JL was good. The villain was too one dimensional and his CGI(along with Cyborgs) was horrible.

Overall 6/10 but I think the Ultimate edition will be better.

They should just start the universe all over again. It can be done with the Flashpoint movie.

I agree that Batfleck - so good in BvS - was wasted this time.

Gal Gadot continues to impress as Diana.

The CGI was unconvincing in places which you just cannot get away with now.

 • Worst thing about this films was the 2 hr runtime, how the hell can you manke a teamup movies with 3-4 newly introduced characters to make sense in 2hrs. This is what killed the movie, every decent scene feels like there was more in it , but forced to be truncated.
 • Terrible CGI villian
 • Joss Whedon's additional scenes & re-shoots are painfully obvious. This movie actually needs a Snyder only cut .
 • WW was made to look like a doll, she felt way more menacing in the solo film, also Supes beat her way too easy .
 • Best scene hands-down in the film is when the Flash tries to creep up of Supes when he's holding all the other JL members by their throats. Flash's reaction on realizing superman is FAST is priceless.

Big mess of a movie.

Pros:
Good characters...The Flash being my fav

Cons:
Everything else from amateur looking CGI to a paper thin plot.

Pretty obvious that the movie has been heavily cut..things just happen without explanation. It’s crazy that some of these characters did not have a solo movie before finally teaming up. Commisioner Gordon was placed in the movie just to be introduced- wasted. After Snyder left the project, WB should have delayed the movie until next year so that it can be polished. All future DC projects should be cancelled & DCEU rebooted.

My expectations were so low that I actually ended up enjoying the movie...

Enjoyed the John Williams original superman score. For me Superman is not superman without the orother final score.

Yes it was was disjointed due to Snyder’s tragedy and the villain was pure rubbish. They needed to do a Flash, Aquaman film which introduced Cyborg in one of them before doing a mash up... like they did with the Marvel Movies...

Nevertheless I still enjoyed it

Really looking forward to The Last Jedi.

I haven't watched this or thor not really interested, Justice league was negatively recieved after the trailer and apparently underperforming at the box office as well, this movie had little hype unlike WonderWoman, BvS. Marvel make movies of the same vein although bit better but they tend to be box office success.

Apparently that may have been his final appearance as Bats, they could be looking for someone younger to cast in the Batman solo directed and written by Matt Reeves

Jake Gylenhall's name is being thrown about.

I actually like Batfleck, dude gets the Batman / Bruce Wayne balance perfectly . We need someone of that menacing height and proportions.

Yes that was good. But Kal-El doesn’t have access to the speed force so Barry should be quicker.

There should have been more reference to the Supes-turning-bad dream / Barry’s time wheel appearance in BvS.

Exactly. Now that I've seen Affleck as Bruce Wayne I just can't imagine someone else play Bruce because IMO Ben Affleck is to Bruce Wayne what Robert Downey Jnr is to Tony Stark.

I think a late-career Batman solo film would suit Affleck. About him coming to terms with aging and slowing down, having to rely on his tech more that his muscle. Or leading a revolt of Batboys against the Mutant Gang.

The trend has produced some brilliant pieces of work, the dark knight, Logan, winter soldier, Ironman they were all cinematically brilliant.

As with any genre you get bad with the good.

I agree that there are plenty of compelling stories from the source material for them to utilise with regards to an ageing, beat up physically and mentally bats but I've ready they want to make multiple movies which is why Affleck being older is a concern but for me it shouldn't be dependent on the story they want to tell, the theme will allegedly revolve around a detective neo-noir.

Th Mutant Gang from The Dark Knight returns were great villains, I loved their narrative; surprised we've not seen much of them outside the animated stuff.

Not to worry but with Flash they are sitting on the perfect “reset” button, they can pretty much wipe the slate clean in a couple of “Flashpoint” movies and start anew. It is not unthinkable, it has been done by JJ Abrams for Star Trek, they can fix a lot of mistakes and casting issues using it as an excuse, question is, will the DC and WB head hurts nachos have the cojones to do that?

Way I see it, they really may not have too many options.... I don’t see a follow up to this one being any better or doing any better..

The mutant gang is from the future when all the heroes are dead and Superman is a govt lackey.. if they do a live action return of the dark knight with an aged Affleck and Armie Hammer is Superman, I would watch it! Lol

lmao that would be something and man I'd love to watch a live action return of TDKR, it's so annoying; people who don't read the source material seem to think that comic book readers support the stuff DC is doing when such movies are mostly inspired by a trend started by Michael Bay, if anything the producers are insulting all the DC characters and storyline's. Lets be honest, outside The Dark Knight is there any DC movie which has done any justice to the source material? now when I say source, the movie doesn't need to stick to it but respect the origins. Not watched it but going by the trailer Justice League seems like a poor mans Avengers when it should be a lot more raw and gritty, I have high hopes from Matt Reeves Batman solo think it will be good.

This was really bad. Compare it with the first Avengers this was very boring. There is so much potential in the source material, but absolutely wasted.

It looks utterly gash. No interest in seeing it. Although I am intrigued by the solo Aquaman effort after how good Wonder Woman was.

True. Ben sort of gives a great representation of what it takes to balance Bats vs Wayne, something I feel was really well done in the Animated series.

Bale's performance was like the weak link in the series, I don't mean as a "actor" he was weak, but the god-awful voice and the general presentation of the character didn't really feel as great as the rest of the series's characters.

Justice League is absolutely rubbish and that is says no something since it was highly anticipated due to the moderate success of Wonder Woman.

Fair to say DC Comics is struggling and they should take a leaf out of Marvel Studios on how to make a good movie.

There is concensus within critics that we may not see another JL movie for a while because BvS and JL simply did not make enough money. It might make more sense to revamp the whole thing with new actors and basically go back to the drawing board. Or simply scrap the idea and focus on solo movies.

I think they'll go with WW sequels and try solo films for the lesser known stars. Possibly there will be a "flashpoint" event to reboot the whole DCEU again.

Flashpoint is already in trouble after losing two directors. The whole DCEU us a mess. If I was DC, I would sell the rights to another studio & reboot.

You friggin kidding me? Dude they are sitting on a gold mine. The DC property is (if done right) so strong it can by itself annihilate Disney with all its Star Wars and marvel stuff. No joke. They have such strong icons that I think they just have been complacent when it comes to transformation them effectively but n the big screen post Nolan. Just the Dark knight series itself is a big evidence of that.

Marvel is now ruing for selling the movie right for X-men, FF and Spider-Man, you know that? If they could, they would go back in time and reverse those decisions.

No I don’t believe that’s smart. They can turn this around but they have to do the hard yards.

Either scrap following the marvel plan in a rush and focus on individual films. Reboot the heavy hitters in stand alone films and develop them like Marvel did with their Phase 1, 2 and 3 method which, by the way was extremely smartly planned and structured, Easter eggs, post credit scenes and all... or so a flashpoint, reset the whole damn thing in one fell swoop using Flashpoint and the Flash and bring in new actors. If done right, I see that working, you can right a lot of wrongs that way including the ridiculous luthor, the general sod battle, brooding Superman, older Batman, etc.

Anybody followed the Crisis on Earth x crossover Tv series they just did? I thought it was corny even for a tv show but using the concept of multiverse, you can completely overhaul the characters, it’s anbery handy reset button comic books have been using every decade or so to reset the timelines and to refresh characters or bring them back.
They have redone origins of almost all their characters this way, the best part is you can keep those things that worked the first time around and just fix the bad parts and you don’t have to retell the entire origin stories.

I wouldn’t be surprised if they actually go this route. Remember JJ Abrams used this concept so well in the rebooted Star Trek. I thought no it was a stroke of genius how he used this concept and actually turned it into a movie of its own in the first Star Trek.

WB needs someone like him (maybe actually him) to do it. He did wonders with the Star Wars sequel too 😎

Most casual observers are clueless in that regard, they can't comprehend the amazing source material because they don't like to read. This is why DC have now created a stereotype out of the live action movies in recent times but people have such a fish like memory because Nolan's incarnation of Bats inspired by Miller's TDKR was brilliant; the blue print had been set for DC 10 years ago, they need not attempt to exploit a market which Marvel already have a foothold in but focus more on the execution of their gritty stories because the characters have great depth. I'd love for them to focus more on solo efforts rather then chucking everyone in a box and expecting each individual to get over in one big cluster.

Yes I am aware that they are sitting on a gold mine..that means zilch if the end results are ****** poor. The combo of WB meddling in the production of DC movies & Snyder’s style of film making has ruined the DC cinematic universe. Are you really looking forward to Aquaman solo outing? JL2? The Flash? (if it ever happens)...not after the recent train wrecks...and there are strong indications that Afleck will not return & director Matt Reeves wants Jake Gynahall to don the Bat suit in his solo outing. It will take at least 7-8yrs yrs for the DC cinematic universe to be revived.

Yeah but does it make any business sense to sell the rights to some other production house? I don’t think so...

The time it takes some other production company to revive it, WB might as well sit on the property and do it itself. It’s not like they are going bankrupt anytime soon, they can afford to do that.

By the way it’s not like they are losing money on these movies either. They are just not making as much money as Marvel which is looked at as a negative but they are overall in the black, not red ...

They’re not doing it right. Marvel movies work because of the humour and because their characters are ordinary people with ordinary problems blessed or cursed with superpowers and the stories come from the conflict between their public duty and their normal lives.

D.C. heroes are icons - Supes is the sun god and a sort of perfected human soul, Bats is vengeance, Diana is wisdom and motherly protection. They have to find a way to make that work on screen.

Bats is more then just vengeance, he's mentally ill, lonely and constantly suffering from PTSD for majority of his life; as a consequence he's hell bent on doing what's right above his own happiness but at the same time it's something he is afraid of. Supes is Mr.Perfect and WonderWoman is certainly a motherly figure, it's strange you'd think her personality would mesh with Bats because opposite's attract contrary to popular belief but I've not read a big arc on their relationship although it tends to be explored more frequently in the animated series especially the early 2000's Justice League where their affection for each other developed organically.

I think that the DC narratives are more then compelling for the public to get behind, yes Marvel characters are light hearted but that shouldn't be seen as something which is a significant advantage over DC, the challenge for them is to remain authentic and stray from becoming a MCU rip off. The Dark Knight did cross the 1 billion mark.

I watched the Justice League Robert cost me £3.50 :yk 2 for 1 with a friend so thought I will go for it, my expectations were extremely low so I didn't come out of the movie in disgust but overall it should have been so much better. The villain was very poor and the plot in general was too one dimensional / a big cliche, was very interested in the individual characters though, their origin stories have so much potential. Not sure where DC go from here but I think they should focus on the solo efforts and recruit a better team, Matt Reeves is a welcome addition for the future Bats movie; there's also that Joker origin story which Dicaprio and Martin Scorsese could spearhead, am more then up for that; quality should be their main ethos and their goal doesn't necessarily have to revolve around expanding the DC universe but if they focus more on the individual characters and their arcs then perhaps people would be more excited for a Justice League movie down the line, this was a very poor effort on so many levels given the potential it had.

DC should stick to their strengths and go back to the route of creating distinct movies because they've been poor at developing the DC universe. The Dark Knight, Superman 1978 and 2006 , Batman Begins, 80s/90's Batman 1 and 2, Constantine , Watchmen and V for Vendetta were all pretty good.

I'd use The Dark Knight and Killing Joke as a starting point with regards to the development of the Scorsese's Joker starring Dicaprio when it comes to a template and if done right they have the chance to be nominated for an Academy Award, same can be said for Matt Reeves because am interested in a Bats neo noir. They would certainly make more money then they are as it stands also because they wouldn't need all that CGI and a big budget to tell an interesting story.

There is news that Znyder had originally planned a Man Of steel 2 , which was shelved because DC exec wanted to rush the JL film before marvel killed the Superhero trend.

What I would love to see is a "Tower of BABEL" adaptation. The league turning on each other, which given the vast scope of the DC heroes and their powers would be great to see. .

Expecting for a "crisis" movie would be too much given the present dire straits DC films find themselves in. Even though the DC "crisis" events could easily dwarf the avenger "war" events .

They got John Constantine totally wrong. I really care about that character. I have about the first 200 issues of Hellblazer. Should have been played by Tim Roth.

The Killing Joke could be good. Jared Leto as the young comedian who turns into the DiCaprio Joker. Batfleck who pursues him across the decades. JK Simmons could play Gordon again, but I would prefer someone a bit heftier, maybe Jeff Bridges.

It wasn't perfect but even that movie was better then the drivel DC is coming out with now. What did you make of the Constantine TV show?

But DC is killing it in TV aren't they. I loved Gotham and Supergirl. Have seen only upto season 2 though.

I wouldn't personally say that, Arrow, Legends and Flash are all B/C level shows at best. Gave up on all of them apart from Gotham which I watch because am a fan of the Bats universe, to be fair with each season it has been getting better but a B level show at best because it's made for TV channels like Fox which limit the content. On the other hand, Marvel have been doing a better job on the Netflix platform their shows have been a lot more compelling and edgy, everything has been great apart from Iron Fist and The Defenders.

A live action TV show surrounding DC's Titan's spearheaded by Robin (Dick Grayson) is expected to release in 2018, that could be pretty decent but it will be released alongside the much anticipated Young Justice Season 3 which I really look forward to, the first 2 seasons are up their with the greatest in history as far as animated shows are concern, so much depth. Titans probably will be in the same vein as Gotham.

Luke Cage was also a failure

Luke Cage was also a failure

It was a great show and very acclaimed by fans and critics, 10x better then any DC TV Show tbh which would turn out better if Netflix was their home.

Iron fist was a failure. Luke cage was ok.
Defenders was terrible.

Nothing beats the first season of daredevil though. That was done brilliantly
