Kamran Akmal withdraws from PSL 7 after being demoted to Gold category from Platinum:

On his YT channel:

“Please release me because I don’t deserve to play in this category"

“The lower categories are better suited for youngsters. I don’t want their [Peshawar Zalmi] sympathy just because I have played for them in the past six seasons.”

“As far as the category is concerned, I was not happy when it was initially announced. I was very surprised to see my category demotion from Platinum to Gold despite my good track record"

“I have loved playing for Peshawar Zalmi. They have great management and bunch of players"

I hope nobody listens to his emotional blackmailing and we can finally get rid of this guy.

So according to Kamran Akmal youngsters are worthless and deserve to be paid less versus seniors.

I hope this guy is also booted out from domestic cricket and that this is the end of his cricket career for good

Pathetic response This sort of attitude is sadly too prevalent in pakistan cricket and needs doing away with

Good job hes withdrawn Good riddance i say

No player has a right to be placed in a specific category.

These guys should spare a thought for those players who deserve to be picked but don't ever get a chance.

Shocking response!

Getting some money is better than no money.

Also, you can prove yourself this season and climb up the categories again.

I think the PSL and PCB should honour Kamran’s request. Release him and hopefully he is never allowed to return

Akram spoke very well, a very decent man , I know him well and has played some club cricket with him in Pindi. Not a bad choice for some coaching assignment for Pakistan senior team.

Disappointing and entitled attitude.

He needs to realize he is older now and no longer has as much demand as before.

Even Gayle and Warner got overlooked in IPL.

It looks like Mohammed Akram will fall victim to the serial blackmailers tactics.

I really wish they discard him publicly.

Shahid Afridi undoubtedly a bigger star than this man is playing in gold category. Kamran Akmal should just accept whatever money he can make at his age and dwindling form.

Where does this entitlement come from? Has he looked at his own numbers in the last PSL? He was atrocious. Never even mind the countless matches this clown lost us in Pakistan colors that he conveniently chose to ignore.

Kick him to the curb and get rid of him. If this allows us to finally get rid of Kamran Akmal then I will be more than happy.

What should happen in this scenario is that the team should drop the player altogether and replace him with someone who actually wants to play and is happy to play in any category.

This would set the right precedent.

He was looked after well according to Mohammad Akram. They were going to pay him the same amount even with less work load as a player

Kamran Akmal had one or two good seasons, other than that he has been rubbish with bat, and ordinary as wicket keeper. He should count himself lucky to be given any chance at PSL.

Agreed a player may not have the right or entitlement for a particular category but every player has the right to say no to playing for a category.

If only Kamran Akmal had said this 10-12 years ago - for Pakistan - their cricket would have been much better for it.

Kamran knows fully well that its the PCB that decides on categories so why put PZ on the backfoot after being selected and then withdrawing?

As per Akram, they are offering him the same earning opportunities as he would get as a platinum player - then why the nakhra?

The sense of entitlement in Pakistan Cricket is shocking. Anywhere else in the world players who are dropped, demoted put in the hard yards to get back on top again. But our players the moment they get demoted, put in a second eleven throw their tantrums in comparison

Reactionary and immature response from Kamran Akmal.

Mohammad Akram looks like a thorough professional who comes across as an honest and capable person.

Have never liked Kamran Akmal the person but it's no doubt that he has been one of better batters in PSL.
But this attitude is not warranted and should be made an example of and should be blacklisted.

Although I can see him getting picked by QG next year.

Kamran Akmal has been dropped down the categories? Good to see that for once in his life, Kamran Akmal is not the one doing all the dropping :P

So, the sense of entitlement remains strong even if you aren't playing for Pakistan.

Man, our cricketers are such drama queens. This talk of senior junior and self respect is just so nauseating. You'd never hear this kind of talk in any other team or sport.

Akmals. The worst thing to happen to Pakistan cricket for the last two decades - including fixing and tampering issues.

Kamraan has the worst attitude. No one has ever in the history of Pakpassion debates managed to tell me a worse batsman to ever play for Pakistan over a consistent period of time (that's without bringing in his atrocious match losing keeping).

The journalists seemed to be pretty attacking in their questions.

Pathetic from this shameless loser. Then again this is what you expect from someone like him anyway.

Agree even his PSL adventures are exaggerated. He was only good in two seasons.

Dropped I think Asif Ali in the final one time to cost his team the victory.

Classic Kami.

On top of all this rubbish - his attitude just stinks.

A for Akmal
B for Ball
C for Catch
D for Drop

Will never forget the 2010 Sydney drama.

Everytime he does something like that reminds me of sydney test 11 years ago. Man that missed run out.
He singlehandedly lost us that test match.

Absolute rubbish player and person. Hope this is the last we see of him, however I doubt it.

Such a shame though that he’s equally rubbish brother got selected over some half decent domestic talents

I understand that for these guys it is livelihood, but so thankful that guys like him are finally out of the pakistan int team, and hopefully moving forward, even in domestics teams / cricketers create an environment where they feel privileged to be playing cricket and not treat it like some given right.

Absolutely shameless

Only Adnan seemed to be devoid of controversy from this family

Oh, he was responsible for getting to play in easy UAE series while leaving Sarfraz for the SENA devils early in their careers.

He should retire as he has no international future let another young batsman have a go at making a name for himself.

This happens when you don't take retirement on time.

He is 40 years old and for the last year and half he is continuously failing like no tomorrow even in domestic tournament like National t20 cup yet he is dreaming for Platinum category. :facepalm

Indeed, they should pick some young wicketkeeper probably Haris or Rohail and release Kamran akmal , if he is not picked by any other team in PSL or he realises that everyone wants to pick him only in silver category and not more than that then he will realise his worth

Both Akmal brothers have the same attitude towards cricket and their fitness like being a fat uncle is a least thing to say

Oh, he was responsible for getting to play in easy UAE series while leaving Sarfraz for the SENA devils early in their careers.

How is a player responsible for getting picked? 😂

It’s not like he was the Chief Selector, let’s not forget that majority of the players in our team have been given an easier start to their careers than others.

Oh please, the trio were a mafia who got what they wanted more often than not.

I am all okay with what Akmal thinks he is entitled to and what not.
But how can he pick social media platform like twitter to discuss his job profile? (Yes, it's a job he gets paid for).

These kind of discussions happen in close rooms with management and you don't reveal anything to anyone.
After discussion if you aren't happy with the outcome, just tell management that you want to part ways and try your luck somewhere else.

He should look at all IPL players who are not retained by their franchisees despite playing for many years. Most of them took social media only to put a thank you note.

Sometimes I doubt whether PCB invests a single penny on grooming/educating its players about how to behave professionally. And if PCB does, players like Akmals Amirs didn't learn a thing.

He singlehandedly lost us that test match.

Even his strongest supporters cant watch that replay right now and tell me him missing the stumps wasn’t deliberate.

I’m not making any other allegations but just that he deliberately missed the stumps with great difficult.

He should be publically embarrassed and banned from Pakistan cricket for life. Played one overrated innings in his life after hundreds of international matches.

The sense of entitlement that so many of our reject ex cricketer has-beens have is absurd.

This one takes the biscuit to a whole new level.

Hopefully thr category isnt back tracked and this is a lesson to him and others on how not to behave

Which one, Mohali 2005 or Karachi 2006.

Don't remind us that match......:danish

To be honest, It was the most painful test loss of my life. :ssmith

Keepers break stump even if they dont have ball in the gloves , that was just mindblowing.

They do it thousands of time and it’s muscle memory. You’ve seen cases of keepers hitting the stumps and thinking it was bowled because they actions are so automatic.

Kami didn’t just stop himself breaking the stumps, he literally took evasive action to stop his momentum from hitting the stumps.

What really boggles me is who actually watches his youtube channel for insight? This guy has been one of lowest IQ players to ever play for pakistan. That "knowledge" needs to retire with him.

Hahaha I guess there is a market for anything.

Don't let the door hit you on the way out Kami :haha

He wouldn't have done this if he saw that there is a slight chance for him to be "upgraded" or some such.

Watch this space.

Action should be taken by PSL administrators and not PZ franchise.
It has the potential to become a recurring feature if it's dealt softly here.

Shambles!
How can you ignore his and Umar's services to Pakistan Cricket; if it wasnt for these two, we would never have discovered Babar Azam.
Itni barri qurbanian dee hai in dono ne qaum ke liye, ke mujay hath chaiye gin-nay ke liye...!

I'm pretty sure PZ will give in to his demands and give him a 'bonus' or give him some fancy title to increase his salary.

And then, more players will follow suit with this type of behaviour.

Akram was clearly saying that he will get the salary of a player from upper category and also will get a share from Zalmi’s profit this year for his services. He also said that they reserved the right to match for him in case any other franchise picks him. I mean there are already 3 big favors to him and still this 40 year old is not happy.

Hes been disrespected cos hes been demoted in a category

Such pathetic low class thinking When will some of these players grow up and also grow a brain

Too much pampering is not good for Pakistan cricket or indeed the PSL. This will only grow amongst the players and the tournament and the franchises will regret this.

Kamran Akmal drops another clanger, story of his career.

Injustice done to Kamran Akmal?

What I heard Akmal claiming first he was assured of Platinum category , and then suddenly he was demoted to Silver category in 5 min conversation

Is this how internal PCB/PSL staff communicates...
Given, Kami has seen his best days, and even Silver category is undeserving for someone who has been in poor batting/keeping form and totally looks a misfit. But why PCB/PSL admins can't get proper training on communication

According to Akram he was clearly notified in advance of class demotion and salary then why the daramabazi?

As a 40 year old he should be on his last legs and make up of whatever opportunities one can get. If you are so hurt, perhaps perform in the ground, don't drop dollies and maybe they will upgrade your category next year.

Adnan was the best and most humble of the Akmal brothers. Despite performing well he readily moved aside when better options were found. The other two are toxic thinking they are all time greats when both are nothing more then average. If Kamran was a true sportsman he would have no problem being demoted as much as being promoted. He sounds so ageist as well as bitter nowadays.

By the way knowing he can't put an English sentence it is obvious that his twitter account it controlled by someone else:faheem

Urgh these akmals worst thing happened to Pakistan his career has been dropping catches behind stumps

He’s doing us all a favour by stepping away himself. This is probably the best outcome.

Kamran Akmal not happy with Ramiz's remarks on this topic

Ramiz Raja in a media interaction:

"[We have to see] which players will hold our future and those who play regularly and those who have a future [as cricketers in the years to come]. This will be the dawn of a new era.

Kamran responded on a TV Channel:

"I have always performed, which is why the franchise chose me; I am not the type of player who would do an 'in out' like others, with all the runs I have scored in the league, money is not the issue, but I deserve better than being selected in [such a ] low category"

"Senior players have contributed time and effort; their services should not be disregarded; the PCB chairman's comments on the players and his conduct was not appropriate"

these are dumb statements by Rameez Raja. You cannot decide who will have future and who does not.

We need to stop making International cricket the main goal. Main goal of every cricketer should be domestic cricket. After that only a few players get selected for international not everyone else.

You cant forecfully remove and resigned cricketers who are 33+. Australia and England have alot of domestic players that are above the ages and are past the international selection stage.

Not everyone will play international, you need to let domestic teams pick whoever they think is the best. If that means selecting 20 guys who are 30+ years old than so be it. If PCB starts intervening in domestic selections than we are further destroying the domestic structure.

No sorry This is totally wrong Ramiz is spot on
Im sorry to say the PSL has turned into an old mans club with too many past it players esrning on reputation than performance

The whole reason for having a domestic structure and tournament is to feed the intl team and give it success

We have too many past it over the hill players stealing a living and costing the intnl team because they are taking a place of a potential star of tmrw

Time this circus is put to an end and restrictions put in place
