Two of the worst keepers to have ever represented Pakistan. One dropped catches, the other cant even squat and gives away byes and runs.

Who would you have as keeper if the option were these both.

As keeper Kamran by far. Allround player, Kamran too.

As batsman alone, pretend that neither has to keep or field, I’d go Azam. Kamran was underachieved with the bat, and I think is overrated by batsman by most. I think he only sadly improved batting and did justice to his talentwhen it was too late after he got dropped permanently and started doing well in PSL. I think Azam with the same number of chances would outperform Kamran with the bat.

Well one of the so called worst keepers has won an icc Cup for his country 😴
 
Never thought I’d pick Azam but wow, this was an easy choice.

Kamran akmal was the worst thing to happen to Pakistan cricket.

He didn’t win us an ODI cup any more than rumman raees won us a champions trophy.

In all seriousness, both are pathetic, it's just KA has tye advantage of once in a blue moon performance that came on the eve of a 2009 world cup.

But azam Khan has nothing.

He was an aggressive batsman. (Ignore his strike rate)

There was no other keeper in Pakistan who knew how to hold a bat. (Ignore that we had the likes of sarfaraz and who knows how many other talented players wasting away).

Were bigger contributors to the win than Kamran’s 30 odd runs. So no, he didn’t win us the final.

Well, choosing between Kamran Akmal and Azam Khan for the wicketkeeper’s role is like choosing between burnt toast and a soggy biscuit for breakfast.

Both of them are bad but if I had to choose one, I would go for Kamran due to his overall capability. He was a better keeper than Azam and has played some knocks that are worth remembering.

Kami was not a better wicket keeper.

It's been a short sample but based on PSL, CPL and the international cricket cricket played by Azam so far, he has shown he has low agility, is slow to move and is limited in his range. But he does not consistently drop routine chances like kami did. No other keeper in the history of cricket has played as many games as Kami and dropped the kind of chances he did on a regular basis. Umar Akmal as a part time keeper dropped less than him per game.
 
Kamran had a lot of potential and he didn't reach it. he had many many many lows ( sydney test is one) but also had some unbelievable highs.

His innings in the Karachi test is one that most modern Pakistani batsmen would find it difficult to replicate. His batting somewhat covered his keeping.

Azam Khan has achieved nothing in comparison. He has so far been unable to bat in any international cricket and his keeping leaves a lot to be desired. With Kami for a very long time we thought we had unearthed a real gem, i don't think we have that same feeling with Azam.

It's actually a very weird thread. The gap between them is like the gap between the intelligence of a dimwit like @topspin with an average human being. Far too wide for their to be an acceptable comparison.

Kami has 4 test centuries against India.

Not a difficult choice, Kamran easily over Azam, burnt toast > soggy biscuit any day!
 
Kamran. Easy choice.

Kamran's keeping lows is routine for Azam. And Kamran was a proper clutch player for a good first 50% of his career.
 
Both are not great WKs. Azam hasn't played much international Cricket so it's dumb to compare them. Unless we're talking about domestic Cricket only

Faheem ashraf has one amazing innings but sadly it came in a warmup against bangaldesh.

Azam khan has nothing really besides bashing 110kph bowlers on school boy 40M pitches
 
Azam Khan is one of the worst decisions PCB has made at the international professional level. He looks like a tailender against even half decent bowling, except a tailender would be able to run between the wickets faster than him.

I'll put it this way. I'd take Azam Khan against everyone except India, Aus, Eng, SA, NZ, SL, Afg, and BD. Yes, I think Azam Khan would struggle against BD, especially against the fizz, taskin, and Shakib
 
Kamran is a better batter than Azam Khan by far. Wicketkeeping you can say is almost equally pathetic so there is no comparison in that department. Kamran has the extra edge that he was not that unfit like Azam Khan is so he can also play a fielder and he did that in a few games. Not a good fielder though.
 
Everyone saying Azam is a bad keeper just because of the way he looks... When did he drop catches like Kamran Akmal?
 
Azam for sure. Kamran was horrible behind the stumps. Plus haven't seen many keepers displace Rizwan from the wicket keeping spot so Azam must have something the management sees in him.

He did not displace anyone, Rizwan was asked to step aside from keeping duties because one cannot hide Azam in the field. As astonishing as it sounds, Azam Khan is physically incapable of fielding, so the compromise is to make him a keeper.

Thanks for bringing some sense to the discussion- that too from a neutral perspective.

Going by some of the poppy discussion on the forum lately, you'd think Pakistan has had a pedigree of all-time great WK/batsmen and Don Bradman's waiting in the wings, and Rizwan was clipping them and wasn't living up to the lofty expectations.

Bro just say you won't take azam at all, why say I'll take him except against every team 😂.

But yeah otherwise you're correct. Dude can't play pace bowling or spin bowling you need to be a medium for him to hit you
 
Akmal dropped catches are inexcusable.

He should have played as a specialist batsmen.
 
Flawed list.

Azam Khan has achieved nothing to date in international cricket.

Umar Akmal has barely played as a wicket keeper.

I just think Azam would be more destructive against teams like Zimbabwe, Uganda, Ireland (as he's shown), Scotland, etc. :ROFLMAO: so hence I said I'd take Kami against every decent to good team, but I'd rather have Azam Khan's impact when he's confronted by lower level bowlers

Seriously !! , what kind of comparison is this. Kamran was no Wasim Bari but he always contributed for the team , mostly by his batting and has played many match winning innings and some of them were all time great innings by any Pakistani batsman . Azam Khan is a joke for an international player who has been given unnecessary and undeserving importance by some people , including yourself asking this question.
 
Kamran Khan at the start of his career was a real fighter but in the latter half was just an unforgettable character
 
Sarfraz and Rizwan were only properly wicket keeping batsmen Pakistan has produced post 90s . Kamran was good batter but one of most inferior WK in history of cricket .
 
Kamran Akmal will be on my team any day of the week if I have to choose between him and Azam khan. And I don't have to let you guys know why I chose Kamran over Azam.

Azam khan is no keeper and he is inferior as a batter to Kamran.

Just think about that. King Viv Azam can’t field and as he’s such a great batsman we have to hide him as a wicket keeper liability. Who is responsible for this nonsense? “World class Wahab”?
