Sad to see Karachi bow out like this but no one else but themselves to blame.

Wonder with what intensity their players will take this game - They should give it their best in respect to their skipper Imad Wasim who has been outstanding.

For Lahore, more of the same is expected in front of their home crowd

Karachi Kings have won the toss and opted to bat against Lahore Qalandars in Match 30

For me they played the best cricket in the tournament...none of their matches were one sided...they lost by 1,2 runs in every match...imad has been brilliant and so has been Amir..i wish they had qualified for playoffs..they played better cricket than zalmi

OK KK have said that Shoaib Malik is unwell and Qasim Akram has been brought in

Karachi are deserving last in this PSL. This tournament has seen some great performances from the the emerging talent and two teams that failed to capitalize on this talent were Karachi and Quetta. A clear example was Qasim Akram.

There was much talk about Saim Ayub was going top be wasted by Babar but what we say was a captain that trusted the new youth and gave chances to guys like Haseebullah and Saim. On the other hand, Imad has failed to do this and went with old players like Shoaib Malik instead of Qasim Akram.

I'd forgotten that Dilbar was even in the LQ squad.

Why didn't Akhlaq play more than 1 match at PSL 8.

Looked ok today.

harris rauf is such a brainless bowler... what a waste... you would expect him to dominate more often...

I think KK will be pleased with that score.

FZ the key wicket if they want to win the match.

Economy rate of 9.13 at PSL 8 so far.

He has been very ordinary.

most bowlers are getting thumped, no doubt, but him, naseem, shaheen, are our main front line bowlers, and we want/expect good results from them.

Lahore are useless at chasing. The minute they lose the toss they should consider forfeiting the match there and then

LQ depend heavily on Fakhar. If he doesn't get them off to a good start then they are screwed.

LQ playing like a team with their mind already on the match against Multan.

Update from LQ:

Rashid Khan is off the field after a bouncer hit him on his helmet. Medical panel is monitoring his situation

Not much of a spectacle that match.

Low key match as KK beat LQ both times in this years tournament.

David Wiese | Lahore Qalandars captain: That wasn't our best performance. Disappointing to come out here and not give the crowd a good performance. It's a more fair contest here compared to Pindi. You don't stand a chance there as a bowler. Over here the wicket is more conducive to better cricket. Just a better cricket wicket in general. We were just 10-15% off today. Was a different feel with Shaheen not out there leading us. Definitely looking forward to the playoffs, we worked hard to finish in the top two. Pretty sure it's going to be a sellout. Want to come out in the next game and do the fans justice.

Imran Tahir: Always nice to finish like this when you have a tough campaign. We badly needed it to be honest. I need to be in the playing XI to do that (celebration) but I didn't get many opportunities, Shamsi was fantastic. It's been tough for the bowlers. In Karachi we had tough conditions - dewish. Not my favourite season this year. Want to thank all the people who came in to support. Really grateful. I hope they enjoy the cricket. Couple of things coming up - I'll be playing for Guyana, that's my main focus. Want to do something special for the people in Guyana.

Imad Wasim | Karachi Kings captain: We should've won the first couple of games. All the games we've won, we've won by big margins. Positives are that the youngsters proved themselves. We gelled together despite being out the tournament and we played for the pride of Karachi. It's very frustrating, game awareness is key in T20 cricket. The way we played cricket throughout the tournament was fantastic. Captaincy puts a lot of pressure especially when your side is losing. Selecting the playing XI is very difficult, we had so many injuries as well. Our focus is to give opportunities to emerging talent. One thing we lacked was game awareness, about when to attack and when to defend. My performance was okay but if the team is not winning it doesn't matter. It's a team game so yes, I'm doing well personally but it doesn't matter. Hopefully we can come back and do well next year.

Mohammad Akhlaq | Player of the match: I felt very special when I was told I will be playing today. Tayyub and I figured that the wicket was quite difficult today so we decided to play our natural game. I learnt a lot of things this season.

Karachi Kings signed off on the HBL Pakistan Super League 2023 with 86 runs victory over table-toppers and defending champions Lahore Qalandars in the 30th and final league match at the Gaddafi Stadium here on Sunday.

Kings’ 11th victory in 17 matches over Lahore Qalandars helped them finish ahead of Quetta Gladiators in fifth place. When Karachi Kings had hosted Lahore Qalandars at the National Bank Cricket Arena on 19 February, they had registered a 67 runs victory.

While Karachi Kings will once go back to the drawing board, Lahore Qalandars will prepare to take on Multan Sultans in Wednesday’s Qualifier. On the following day, Islamabad United will go toe to toe with Peshawar Zalmi in Eliminator 1 with the loser of Qualifier and winner of Eliminator 1 to meet in Eliminator 2 on Friday. The final between the winner of Qualifier and Eliminator 2 will be played on Sunday.

Karachi Kings made the right call on the spin of coin and elected to bat first. Karachi Kings made seven changes to their side that lost to Quetta Gladiators by four wickets on 6 March. In contrast, Lahore Qalandars rested Shaheen Shah Afridi and Sikandar Raza, and played Dilbar Hussain and Shane Dadswell.

Karachi Kings’ Muhammad Akhlaq and Tayyab Tahir put on 70 runs off 39 balls for the second wicket and, Imad Wasim and Ben Cutting added 52 runs in 31 balls for the fifth wicket to lift their side to 196 for seven. This included 60 runs in the last five overs after PowerPlay overs had produced 68 runs.

In his debut appearance for Karachi Kings, wicketkeeper-batter Akhlaq top-scored with a 36-ball 51 with five fours and two sixes. Imad Wasim contributed a 31-ball 45 with six fours, Tayyab Tahir struck four fours and a six in a 23-ball 40, and Cutting hit a quick-fire 14-ball 33 with two fours and three sixes before falling to Haris Rauf.

Hussain Talat (two for 24), Zaman Khan (two for 39) and Haris Rauf (two for 52) shared wickets.

In turn, Fakhar Zaman departed in the third over at the score of 16 and then Lahore Qalandars continued to lose wickets at regular intervals until they finished at 110 for nine with Rashid Khan retired hurt after being hit by a James Fuller bouncer.

Hussain Talat top-scored with 25, while other batters to reach double-figures were Haris Rauf (18), Fakhar (13), Kamran Ghulam (11) and Sam Billings (11).

Akif Javed took two for eight, Imran Tahir bagged two for 24 and Imad Wasim snapped up two for 26, but it was Muhammad Umar (two for 20) who impressed the most with his speed, line and length.

Scores in brief:
