They both are living on the reputation of being a 6th bowler, especially who can bowl off spin.

India and Pakistan doesn't have an off spinner in the team now, hence they are being preferred.

It's good, that they can bowl off spin, but first they should be able to get into the team based on batting alone. Which neither does.

Jadhav is a hack, and Hafeez, a tuk tuk.

I'd say Jadhav. Hafeez has some experience and can do well against spinners.

But Jadhav is a nothing player. A total hack. It still burns my blood, when I see his dismissal at the CT.

There is one shot of Jadhav that i will always remember he played in CT final of Hassan Ali was a whip and the ball went like a tracer bullet to the boundary.

Lokesh Rahul is an unbelievable talent, 100 times the player that Pant, Pandey, Pandya, Raina and Jadhav will ever become. I don't understand the logic behind him being ignored. He is right up there with Kohli with regards to talent, motivation, fitness and consistency.

I'm sure OP would love to see Yuvi back replacing Jadhav. Most subcontinent people are obsessed with experience past their sell date. Young players with potential needs backing. It's very rare they will start performing from day 1. Pandya is an example.

Ok, then.
Based on what should Pant get chances? He hasn't performed well with the A team and has an average of 21.06 in List A.
I think Virat has made it clear that they are looking at Rahul as an opener from now on, which is reasonable given his track record there and the fact that he has played all his life there. (also he failed in SL at 4/5 and has a mediocre list A record)
I don't think Pandey is competing with Kedar tbh, India is looking at him as a no. 4 player and not a finisher and Kedar is more of a finisher that should ideally enter the crease at around over 25-30.

Apart from that, Kedar is more than handy with the ball and has an average of 42+ at a SR of 108 in the last two years - which is more than decent. He has deserved his chances with an average of 50+ and SR of 100+ in list A over 100+ matches.

I don't see what the problem is here. He hasn't been in the best form in the last two series but he is still contributing. Bowling in the last match - and has 2 50+ scores in his last 5 completed innings.
