Khabib Nurmagomedov has challenged Floyd Mayweather to a showdown, telling his fellow undefeated fighter: “In the jungle there is only one king”.

Nurmagomedov extended his professional mixed martial arts record to 27-0 and retained his UFC lightweight title with a fourth-round submission victory over Conor McGregor at UFC 229 in Las Vegas last weekend. However, his win was overshadowed by an ugly post-fight melee. The Russian had his purse withheld by the Nevada Athletic Commission, which sanctioned the event, after leaping over the cage and attacking a member of McGregor’s team. Both Nurmagomedov and McGregor have been given temporary suspensions by the NAC, pending a full investigation.

McGregor made a brief foray into boxing last year to take on Mayweather, who moved to 50-0 in the paid ranks by stopping the Irishman in the 10th round of their highly lucrative showdown. McGregor is believed to have made tens of millions of dollars from the fight.

In a video posted on Instagram by Mayweather CEO Leonard Ellerbe, Nurmagomedov said: “Let’s go Floyd. We have to fight now: 50-0 versus 27-0. We are two guys who never lose. [But] in the jungle there is only one king. Of course, I am the king because he cannot drop McGregor but I drop him easily. Let’s go.”

Mayweather did not knock down McGregor during their fight last year, but appeared to be toying with his opponent in the early rounds. He has not fought since overcoming McGregor but stated last month that he was coming out of retirement for a rematch with Manny Pacquiao.

He will still be 27-0 after losing to Mayweather in squared circle. I hope this is all just good humour, we dont need another farce in the boxing world.

Well, UFC is compatible to boxing, but boxing can't really make the cut for a UFC octagon. If this fight goes through, which's chances are extremely slim: I bet on a Khabib knock-out win.

Didnt maywhether retire after the last fight?

Nevertheless, Floyd will easily beat Khabib because of his defensive skills. Lets be honest, MMA fighters cant really beat pro-boxers in boxing. They arent trained the way boxers are.

How does mayweather make like $200 mil in one boxing match and ufc fighters make only $2mil? How does this work? I thought ufc ppv numbers were decent.

The business structure of the UFC is way different to boxing. In boxing fighters will get majority of the cut as they are often the promoters of the event itself. Even if they are not the promoter of the fight like Mayweather there are many different promoters in Boxing who will offer fighters a bigger slice of the pie to fight under them. Since there is cross promotion in boxing, having fights against fighters from different promotion companies is not as difficult as it is in the UFC. Where both fighters need to be signed to the UFC

UFC however is much more rigid. Since UFC the main goal is to make money for the owners of the UFC. Its [pretty well known that fighters get a small cut of the revenue generated and they do not really have a choice to not take it, as unlike boxing you cannot promote fights independent and still make money. UFC is essentially a monopoly int he MMA world. You either fight with them and make decent money or you fight with a smaller promotion company and make crap money.

Don't bellator and one championship pay the same?

Mayweather should fight Khabib, but not in boxing ring.

This will be like Sachin challenging Federer in Tennis. Both are good at their respective fields.

In the end, public are fools to watch these meaningless fights.

Mayweather is forreal but Khabib gon get knocked out, they should fight in the octagon instead but mayweather is too old.

Mayweather and Pacquio together couldnt beat Khabib in the Octogan. I think they are both joking atm, keeping themselves in the spotlight thats all.

For me Floyd is still only 49-0 beating Conor was all exhibition to fool people out of money. If he wants a challenge, he should fight a young boxer such as Spence.

Khabib is having fun at Conor's expense and you know what? Conor deserves much worse.

Khabib is no boxer for goodness sake. He does not have the technique where as May will have no idea of UFC fighting. It''s time for Khabib too shut up now. He made his point by hammering McGregor like his daddy avenging the insults that were made to Islam.:steyn

Ever since McGregor, all these UFC brawlers dream of fighting Mayweather for a $100 million cheque.

That sounds about right, I don't think anyone including Khabib himself is taking this seriously. One circus show was enough, I criticised MCGregor for that at the time as I still thought he had to prove himself in the octagon....and that has now been proved.

Floyd Mayweather tells UFC's Khabib Nurmagomedov 'come into my world'

Boxer Floyd Mayweather has told UFC fighter Khabib Nurmagomedov to "come into my world" and make a bout happen that he believes will earn him more than his fight with Conor McGregor.

The American, 41, beat McGregor in August 2017 in a fight that generated more than £450m and earned him £210m.

Nurmagomedov, after defeating the Irishman on his return to UFC, then called out Mayweather himself.

"When I face Khabib, of course I am getting a nine-figure payday," he said.

"More than the McGregor fight. Probably $100m more - I'm going to say between $110m and $200m (more) guaranteed."

Nurmagomedov, 30, extended his unbeaten mixed martial arts record to 27-0 with his 6 October victory against McGregor, but former five-weight world champion Mayweather (50-0) says any bout between the two will happen in the boxing ring.

"We fighting," he told TMZ. "I'm my own boss, so I can't say what's going on at Khabib's end, but at my end we can make it happen.

"I'm Floyd Mayweather. I'm the A-side, you call me out you come into my world.

"I don't know no other fighter that has done the numbers I have done. I don't know any fighters that have made the money I have made, so he called me out - come into my world, make it happen."

However, Mayweather warned the Russian there must be no repeat of the melee that followed his defeat of McGregor in Las Vegas.

"Of course we know Vegas is the fighting capital, and after the fight you have to conduct yourself like a true professional," said Mayweather.

"Not just in the ring, but outside the ring also - you must conduct yourself like a professional."
