I have read that Khaled Mahmud is critically ill after a stroke. Remember him? He was the dibbly dobbly bowler who took 4 wickets against Pakistan in the 1999 world cup match.

It is moments like this which make you realise what is important in life and how much we take health for granted. He is a young man - only 46.

Please rememeber him in your duas. May Allah SWT grant him full health.

NEW DELHI: Khaled Mahmud, the former Bangladesh allrounder suffered a stroke on Saturday and is likely to be flown to Singapore for treatment, a member of Mahmud's family confirmed. Mahmud had slipped into coma and was reportedly critical after being admitted to a city hospital in Dhaka.

An ill Mahmud, a board of director with the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB), was paid a visit by Nazmul Hassan (BCB president), along with other directors of the board. The BCB have also arranged for an ambulance to take Mahmud to the airport.

Speaking to a Bangladesh newspaper, The Daily Star, the BCB media committee chairman Jalal Yunus said: "The members of the BCB learnt of his condition after making enquiries into why he was absent from today's [Sunday's] board meeting. He was admitted to hospital yesterday morning and is currently in the ICU.

"He is in a semi-coma, but the CT scan has not revealed anything too serious," he added. Yunus also mentioned that Mahmud could be taken to Singapore for better treatment, if needed.

Recently turned 46 last week, Mahmud was Bangladesh's third Test captain, and had represented the country in 12 Tests and 77 ODIs during which he scored 991 runs and picked up 67 ODI wickets. Having made his debut in 2001, Mahmud called time on his career five years later to proceed towards an administrative role.
