Kookaburra Kahuna 800

Hi guys,

A friend of mine wants to buy kookaburra kahuna 800. Anyone got experience with kahuna bats? Balance, sweet spot etc. The price is 235£. Cover_Drive bhai, Knight Rider or others?

I hate Kookaburra's!! They are planks for some reason! I mean this applies to all I have seen in action, I haven't seen a Kahuna in action but others have been plank so I never recommend Kookaburra to anyone.

Anyways, I have held few Kahunas and they are decent bat, shape is good, pickup is very good too!

I would say buy a GM or Newbery in that price you'll love it!

Hmmm okay Cover Drive. I go my Kookaburra blade 250 for about 70 pounds, and i can tell you it is not a plank, it's very good balanced and the ball rockets of the middle.

I don't know I have seen Blade 950, Kookaburra CCX 900 and 750 and all three have been planks! Balance and feel is good but they don't go well at all!

I would say Flare or Icon because you guys want light pickup.

Heavy bat, do you like heavy bats? Oblivion is a very good bat though, very good feel and pick!

I dont know but for some reason i dont like Flare or Icon, maybe cuz of the new stickers.. But Oblivion looks good. Yes im looking for light pickup, is Oblivion a heavy bat? I think light is 2.8-2.9. I dont understand anything about the grading of this bat..

The Extreme Pro in Oblivion range is only heavy bat.

Oblivion has very good pickup though.
 
I quite like Kookaburras, that price looks a bit high though.

Online stockist have a Kahuna 900 for £208

But the best bat for the money is a CA Plus 10000/12000

Won't suggest CA Plus 10000/12000 I'd rather say TRD LE
 
the kahuna is a good bat but will not last you long. i had the 1000 lasted me 1 season before it cracked in the handle. might as well get a bat that has the same or better performance but last you alot longer

Kookaburra are made by SG and SG's pressing leaves a lot to be desired just ask industry insiders in India. Kookaburra is a marketing company not a bat maker simple as that. If you buy 10 Kooks you might get 2 or 3 that are good but when spend top dollar you want a bat that will perform then don't buy a Kookaburra as it is a risky purchase. There so many better bat makers ahead of SG in india it is not funny and SG is the king of making mass produced crap. You can get a good SG made bat but it is luck of the draw as they have very little consistency in their manufacturing process.
 
The finishing, the stickers of Kookaburra bats are exceptional. But that means zilch if they do not perform and I would agree overall the bats are nothing spectacular.
They are definitely very hard pressed bats (I knocked them in for well over 3-4 hours but still the bat did start to perform well) so they last but it affects performance and when they do start to open up they start to crack and split open - that is what happened to my last 2 kookaburra bats (Beat and ICE).

Kookaburra is a marketing company hence the stickers always look good this is a marketing technique used to draw you towards the brand and of course the likes of Ricky Ponting.

Ponting had a big blew with Kookaburra about his bats. This is when Kookaburra demanded that he started to use their factory made bats as Ponting had always had his bats made by his personal bat makers and then stickered up as a Kook.

the stickers are nice but some stickers on the back i find are not necessary and tend to peel off. i have a kookaburra kahuna and genesis. the gensis stickers are pretty much gone and the kahuna is peeling and peeling fast

When Kookaburra gives SG order they [Kookaburra] doesn't pick up good looking and good performing sticks rather they just look at quantity sheet.

I fully agree that the chance of getting a good Kookaburra among 10 bats is not great.

Hence, I would say it is better to by relatively smaller brand bats.
 
Cover Drive, which bat do you think is better? The GN Powerbow or GN Oblivion?

Powerbow seem to have a much larger sweetspot compared to Oblivion, but Oblivion looks much meatier towards the toe.

Didn't read so my bad.

Anyways, in what sense are you asking this? I haven't played with Oblivion yet and I rate Powerbow very very high.

I won't say Powerbow has larger sweetspot instead I'd say Oblivion has more meat throughout the face of the bat. Oblivion picksup lighter than Powerbow too so I'd say Oblivion just edges Powerbow out.

My brother asked you about Oblivion and Powerbow cuz im thinking about buying one of them. I think ill go for Powerbow cuz ive read good things about this bat, and i like the shape of the bat.
 
I love Powerbow shape too but unfortunately the one I have and the one sold now is different they totally changed the shape.
