It looks like Shaheen has traded his bowling skills for his batting...getting hammered by Riz

Shaheen needs to learn some humility. Yorker after yorker. He keeps trying to get a wicket. Someone like Amir would have taken two balls to read the wicket.

Classic Shaheen over pumped trying to win the game alone rather than playing to a plan. Its like how you ball in gully cricket trying to redeem yourself fast.
 
Shaheen needs to understand that he can't take wicket on all 6 balls. He simply doesn't have an art of setting up the batter.

Pakistan has won nothing with Rizwan opening after runs against B teams and minnows he won an award nobody would say he did well in important matches apart from one that’s it.
 
Early doors still, a couple of wickets and complexion of the game can change.

I agree he needs to improve on this but if you think he's not ATG material then I would suggesting casting your mind back to the WT20 in Australia where he bowled superbly even though he wasn't 100% fit.

So do you also not rate Kohli who has not won anything.
 
Rashid Rauf and Zaman will pull it back and squeeze out Multan after the powerplay.
 
Weise gets Usman with a canny slower ball...shows what even a lesser bowler cna do provided he uses his head....
 
Even the best of the bowlers will struggle on this pitch. Shaheen is still a great bowler. He will need to cool down and age will teach him.
 
shaheen (a good bloke) but in his head he assumes he is alrdy wasim waqar shoaib plus.... he only has height and pace.... if he can only calm down and properly analyze and think or out think a batter, it would br great for him.... harris R has similar issues...

Yes if anything Sarfraz should be rated higher he won a CT while Babar and Rizwan have lost every important match when Pakistan needed them and their number 1 rankings and awards apart from one against New Zealand.

We saw perfectly well how talented his supposed replacement in Sharjeel performed in PSL :)))

This couldn't be any further from the truth.

Kohli has won 2011 WC. His partnership with Gambhir was instrumental in the final when they had lost 3 early wickets and he had a very good tournament in the 2013 CT which India also won.

I’ve said this Shaheen guy is an extremist captain. Very big liability! Imagine if David Wiese wasn’t on the field!

Shaheen would’ve flipped the match upside down, ate the ball, destroy the stumps, etc.

The other bowlers will slow him down Shaheen gave too many freebies.

Unfortunately he gets forced to open with Babar. Remove Babar and you might see Rizwan performing better than before with a better partner. Can't say the same about Babar.

I think Babar goes missing. Rizwan still makes runs. He is quite limited but has a strong mind. 50s in consecutive world cup semis although people say the first one was slow. He has done well against India too.
 
Only 2 genuine batsmen left with Pollard and Tim David... HappyHeart batting 5 positions too high

They would have a better chance of winning a trophy of Rizwan didn’t open in those matches he should stick to series vs West Indies B South Africa B and Zimbabwe.
 
Guys enjoy this game stop worry about if rizwan performance here matters or not at international level

Quite true. Didn't think of that. I guess since then they have had a dearth. Then Babar has also won a champions trophy as has Mohammad Hafeez with a couple of instrumental performances.

Your conjecture and fantasies mean nothing here.

If there is a better opener in Pakistan prove it to me with performances. Sharjeel humiliated himself, Fakhar is hit and miss. Saim and Haris might get there but they’ll replace Babar before they can get close to Rizwan.

Rizwan is not just the best opener in Pakistan. He is the best t20 opener Pakistan have produced in their history.
 
Keep the thread about the match, there are many other threads to discuss other things
 
And Rossouw smashing it...good for Multan but not having any other decent Pakistani batsmen in the line up is disappointing

He held the spinners back and had the 115 for 5. Shaheen played a blinder. Rizzy didn’t throw his young players under the bus when they got smashed. That’s good captaincy. From the guy playing in the final. Sometimes the opposition does better.

Not ture. Riz is not an ideal opener but he averages 57 @130. Fakhar averages 22 @ 136. He is way better than any alternative but not ideal, we should move on but it is silly to live in lala land where we had better players.

Absolutely that’s why he was man of the tournament in Australia and made a match winning fifty in the Asia Cup final.

Babar is an ATG bat in ODIs. Unfortunately he's not up to the mark in the shortest format and there's no shame in that.

Look at Joe Root and Steve Smith. England and Australia didn't select them for their first team during the 2022 WT20. The modern demands of T20 cricket have changed. There's no room for accumulators in the shortest format. Babar has also been a massive let down over the last 12 to 18 months, particularly in the tournaments.

Can't conjure the same excitement when a foreign players is smashing it but hope the Pakistani players can learn from him and the way he bats...
 
let see what Rashid does - a litmus test for Lahore and Sultans. if RRR stays below 10 and Rashid fails to deliver, Bye Bye Lahore.
 
Wonder if oppositions play to Rizwans advantage by being all chummy chummy. Feel it relaxes him.
 
Shaheen should bowl out his overs before the last 4 overs of the innings.
