What's new

Leicestershire v Worcestershire | Grace Road | 25/6/11 [PP Live Updates]

Razzaq will have to get wickets up front with the ball. I hope Hoggard does not make the same mistake he made yesturday by not bowling Razzaq's full quota. What a school boy error

oh dear, Hoggard hits Ajmal for 6 and 4 on the last 2 deliveries.

Lecis end up with a fighting 151 for 8.

4 - 11 - 2 - 2.75

Shakib top-class as usual with the ball. Hope he can get some runs today.

Total is competitive, provided their medium pacers bowl well. Henderson will surely choke the runs.

Hoggard to open the bowling.

Edit: Razzaq to open the bowling.

Good delivery first up by Razzaq. Nipped away off the seam, nearly edged to slip.

4 - 11 - 2 - 2.75

Shakib top-class as usual with the ball. Hope he can get some runs today.

Control, accuracy and not a single loose delivery.

Excellent spell of bowling from Sakib.

Looks like Ajmal had a good outing, two sixes from Razzaq but still going slower than a run a ball, maybe a scratchy knock.

Razzaq bowls a good first over. Bit of nip, bit of seam. Batsmen watchul.

Leicestershire bowling well with the new ball. Left armer Guerney gets one to swing away from Solanki, next ball nearly a leading edge.

Third ball slower ball which narrowly avoids Solanki's outside edge.

Good over, only two off it.

Good start Leicester.

Razzaq bowls one that hits the batsmans pads - shout for LBW. Going over - not out. Correct decisoin.

Solanki gone. Edged a rising delivery off Guerney through to keeper Nixon. 18/1.

Game on.

Three down to third man, then 4 leg byes off Hoggard.

Poor over so far.

Shakib gone. Amazing diving catch from Harry Guerney at fine leg.

If Leicestershire win, that Razzaq-Nixon partnership was vital.

Claude Henderson on. Decent spinner.

Slow going for Worcester.....and just as I say that a six over deep square leg.

72 for 3 in the 13th over.

Moeen Ali looks a well organised batsman. I like the look of him.

A huge six that nearly came through the press box - Cameron again.

Wayne White runs 30 yards to take Moeen's skier.

91/4.

Another one gone. Cameron. Entertaining innings caught at long-on by McDonald.

Looks like Leicestershire have this match in the bag.

99 for 6, Worcestershire need 53 from 4 overs.

Send in Ajmal :)

Razzaq to bowl the 19th over.

Worcester need 35 from 2 overs.

Razzaq and Macdonald will defitnitley be taking Leicestshire to the Finals day at Edgbaston, likewise Afridi with Hampshire, and Azhar and Wahab for Kent, May see Sussex with Gul and Rana in their too.

Ima try head down on finals day for definite, 4 teams, half of Pak team will be their for sure :razzaq

Leicestershire boosted their hopes of a place in the quarter-finals of the Friends Life t20 with their first home win in the competition for two years, beating Worcestershire by 19 runs at Grace Road.

The Foxes produced a superb performance in the field to peg the Royals to 132 for 7 after setting them a victory target of 152. Pakistan all-rounder Abdul Razzaq took 2 for 16 in his four overs and left-arm spinner Claude Henderson 2 for 29 as the home side cemented second place in the North group.

After being put in to bat, Leicestershire posted 151 for 8 from their 20 overs, with veteran Paul Nixon top scoring with a gritty innings of 44 to lead a recovery after his side had slumped to 58 for 5 in the eighth over.

Josh Cobb gave his side a good start, hitting 30 off 16 balls with five boundaries before slicing a catch to third man off the bowling of Gareth Andrew. But wickets then began to tumble as the Foxes struggled against the spin of Saeed Ajmal and Bangladesh all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan.

Runs were hard to come by until Nixon and Razzaq joined forces in a sixth-wicket stand of 54 in nine overs. Razzaq hit two sixes off Daryl Mitchell and Nixon also cleared the ropes off a delivery from Jack Shantry.

When Nixon was stumped off Ajmal and Razzaq caught off Andrew the innings stuttered again, before skipper Matthew Hoggard struck a six and a four off the last two deliveries off Ajmal. Ajmal finished with 3 for 31.

Splendid bowling from Razzaq and Harry Gurney saw the Royals struggle to 24 for two in their six overs of Powerplay and Leicestershire never lost their grip on the game from that point on.

James Cameron top scored with 36, Moeen Ali made 32 and Mitchell 23, but the visitors could never get ahead of the rate and finally needed 30 off the final over of the game, which duly proved impossible.
