Let's not give credit for everything to Mickey Arthur

So I see lots of people saying mickey turned fakhar from a slogger to a test batsman. But let's just look at the facts.
1. Mickey never selected fakhar initially : shahzad and Azhar were the first choice openers for champion's trophy, shahzad failed and mickey had to to drop shahzad for crucial game against Sri Lanka, where we were about to get kicked out, fakhar comes in for shahzad and rest is history.
2. In tests, fakhar is on the bench for 4 series: watching Pakistan blow some easy positions to lose games while Babar is treated like a blue eyed wonder boy and fails. So fakhar, averaging 50 is sitting on the bench, asks to leave so that he can play domestic , when fate gets imam injured . Fakhar comes in because someone was injured and scores what no one has done in the squad beside the person he was replacing, score in both innings of one test.

So mickey really had no role to play, besides benching fakhar until he is the only option. He really is a clueless coach, just like when he didn't use asghar and lost to Sri Lanka, and all the time he lost with strong Karachi kings side.

Fact of the matter is clear when 2 players asked to be released from the squad . They know they are not getting a game and they will not learn from the bench.

At least woolmer made afridi better player. Asad, Azhar were batting good before woolmer came. Name me one inconsistent player before mickey that is a proven performer today.
Instead what we have is losing our record of winning and drawing in uae.
Champion's trophy was the hard result of Hasan Ali and fakhar zaman, not some brilliance from mickey or the team

Seriously people lets not get overboard here. Let Fakhar play few more games before calling him some sort of a success in Tests. Secondly Fakhar himself credited Mickey Arthur, who are we to say otherwise?

I agree with the op. Every time Fakhar made it to the team was due to some other player getting injured or performing attorciously. A coach should be able to judge talent in their squad and be willing to take risks.

I do however want to give credit to grant flower for improving our batsmen. Since he has arrived the batsmen have done well overall.

What rubbish has op recently started watching cricket

Before mickey came in we were 30/3
9 out of 10 times in tests and odi

Our rankings were something like 9 in odi

we were even struggling to qualify for World Cup or was it champions trophy

We were never able to score or chase anything past 250

We kept seeing the same TTF

Safaraz mickey and inzi combo has changed a lot

Somebody throw op during the 2010-2016 era so he can understand the pain we went through
