ISLAMABAD: Malaysia has shown keen interest in procuring JF-17 Thunder fighter planes and anti-tank missiles from Pakistan, Finance Minister Asad Umar told media after delegation-level talks between the two countries' leaders at Prime Minister House in Islamabad on Friday.

Umar said the visiting delegation sought participation of JF-17 Thunder aircraft in a defence fair to be held in Malaysia in the near future.

The finance minister said both sides agreed on business and investment worth hundreds of millions of dollars in diverse fields.

Malaysia would import Halal meat and rice from Pakistan, while the two sides also agreed to open branches of their banks in the two countries, he added.

A day earlier, Prime Minister’s Adviser on Commerce and Textiles, Industries and Investment Abdul Razak Dawood had said Pakistan expects investments of US $900 million during the Malaysian prime minister’s visit.

The investments would come in different sectors of the economy including telecoms, information technology and food, he had said, adding that Pakistan and Malaysia would be interested in promoting business to business relations and would also strengthen ties between their private sectors for tapping investment opportunities.

Thank you India/Modi for marketing our JF17...

Ohoo...But but Pak army is evil and will stop any opportunity of investment. It is the bane of Pak existence and and and it will take away the lions share of our budget. It only adds misery to saints like Sharif Bhai loag. :13:

Good, Pak gaining momentum, we should do more deals but quietly, so the haters aka neighbors don't notice and continue to think we are living in stone age.

Seems as India is isolated much more then Pak is. The recent scuffle has resulted in a good opportunity for Pak to advertise it's toys to the world.

Great news. Shooting down those Indian jets has really promoted it to the world. It's a cheaper and more successful alternative to the other rubbish on the market.

Pretty sure Pakistan has developed the JF17 to be the alternative nuclear war head delivery system.

Why?

who is attacking them?

Country like Pakistan need advance weaponry but who is Malaysia going to war with?

JF17 is understandable but why anti-tank missiles?

Deterrence in case anyone decides to attack, countries like France and the UK have armies despite no threat of invasion

They sometimes have border skirmishes with their neighbors.... Also tiny island Singapore has well equipped army as well. Every body spends on their own defense.

You would be surprised to know that the Malaysia Airforce operates the F-18 and SU-30 both very, very advanced jets. They are looking for a single engine multi-role fighter and JF 17 might be exactly what they are looking for.

Wasn't aware of that.

PM Shehbaz welcomes Malaysian PM to Pakistan for 3-day visit

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif welcomed Malaysia’s Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim to Pakistan on Wednesday for a three-day official visit.

Upon his arrival at the Nur Khan Airbase, children clad in traditional attire presented bouquets to the Malaysian premier. He was also given a static guard of honour while 21 guns boomed in the background as a gesture of warm welcome.

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar and members of the federal cabinet were also present to welcome the visiting dignitary. The Malaysian prime minister was accompanied by a high-level delegation.

Earlier today, Malaysia’s Foreign Minister Mohamad Hasan reached Islamabad airport, where he was received by Additional Foreign Secretary (Asia Pacific) Imran Ahmed Siddiqui, the Foreign Office said on X.

During his visit, PM Ibrahim will meet with his Pakistani counterpart Shehbaz Sharif, where they will discuss regional and global developments, according to a statement issued earlier by the Foreign Office.

They will also discuss a wide-ranging agenda to further strengthen Pakistan-Malaysia ties in diverse sectors such as trade, connectivity, energy, agriculture, halal industry, tourism, cultural exchanges and people-to-people contacts.

The Malaysian premier would be accompanied by a high-level delegation comprising ministers, deputy ministers and senior officials.

Noting that Pakistan and Malaysia enjoy strong bilateral ties anchored in history, culture and faith, the FO had termed the visit an “important opportunity” to further strengthen ties between the two Muslim nations.

Ahead of Ibrahim’s arrival in the country, Islamabad was adorned with Malaysian and Pakistani flags.

PM Shehbaz and Ibrahim had last met in April this year on the sidelines of a special World Economic Forum meeting in Saudi Arabia.

The prime minister had extended an invitation to his Malaysian counterpart to visit Pakistan when he was re-elected after the February 8 general elections this year.

The only real threat for Malaysia is China claiming the entire South China sea for themselves.

So Malaysia wants to buy Chinese JF-17 from Pakistan to deter China from redrawing the South China sea map. (y) :misbah

Shipment Status - Pending Chinese Approval (y)
China wouldn't bother. They know they can cut spares supply and bring Malaysia's JF-17 to the ground anytime they want. Particularly if Pakistan is selling them the JF-17 Block III with the Chinese engine.
It would be good for Pakistan if it brings them much needed cash. However, I doubt any of the proceeds of the weapons sales are going to the Pak government or its people. The Pak military must be pocketing everything.
