An Indian cricket fan from Jamalpur in Bangladesh has committed suicide after his favourite team's crushing defeat to Pakistan in the 2017 Champions Trophy, a media report said.

Bidyut, 25, son of Anisur Rahman of Shang Gate area and a food vendor, killed himself by jumping in front of a moving train, the Dhaka Tribune reported.

Government Railway Police station Office-in-Charge (OC) Nasirul Islam said: "Disheartened by the match result, Bidyut committed suicide by jumping in front of a running train Sunday night."

Pakistan defeated India by 180 runs and lifted the Champions Trophy.

I firmly believe such people are mentally ill. Condolences go out to his loves ones. They'll have to suffer for the rest of their lives due to the actions of this irresponsible man.

Sounds fake reason. A Bangladeshi who could bear his teams loss in semi final, but killed himself after a neighbouring country lost?

This.

Probably depression.

Jokes are over at this point. People need to start taking sport as sport and not more.

I read somewhere that he commit suicide because he bet everything he had on the match.

Probably gambled all his money on India. Two terrible decisions in a row by this bloke.

I don't mind people taking their own lives but in South Africa rugby fans have a tendency to beat up their wives and children whenever their team gets beaten

What a waste. It's hard to believe that's the only reason, maybe he had depression or like ExpressPacer said, he bet everything on the match (for whatever reason).

If not, he was definitely mentally ill in some way. Feel bad for his family though, outrageous stuff.

Think of their friends and families. It's a sad situation.

People around the world have the tendency to take their frustration out on someone weaker. Unfortunately, in most cases, it is women and children who suffer.

Any person who thinks Cricket is more important then life has severe mental problems. In a world of war, famine and poverty such idiots think Sport is more important.

Don't think it was just the game, something must've been going on for a long time that built up to this..

What have their wife and kids got to do with the loss of their rugby team? This is simply ********.

In the 1994 soccer world cup Escobar of Columbia scored an own goal which led to Columbia being eliminated from the world cup

When Escobar returned home angry fans shot him 12 times
