Greek police released photos of five Pakistanis who were members of a criminal robbery gang that had terrorised their victims with particular cruelty. The details of the vicious gang were published following a relevant order of the Athens First Instance Prosecutor’s Office. The gang members are also charged with two murders committed with particular cruelty.
The organization was arrested on February 16, 2023, by the Crimes Against Life and Personal Freedom section of the Attica Security Directorate.
The gang was of the most notoriously violent robbers – home invaders, as it had even committed two murders.
The five Pakistani members of the criminal gang, including the leader, were arrested, while two robbery-motivated murders and three cases of robbery and attempted murder were investigated.
Their criminal activities included a series of wild robberies with stabbings, beatings, and even torture. In fact, in both murders, their victims, a 74-year-old Greek and a 47-year-old Pakistani were mercilessly tortured before the knife-wielding robbers “ended” their lives.
In the case of the unfortunate old man, the killers “broke” in April 2021, in the 3rd-floor apartment where he lived alone, in Athens. After being severely beaten in the toilet, he was then handcuffed and dragged to the warehouse of the house where he was strangled to death.
A special law enforcement team carried out a thorough investigation and with the aid of police units managed to arrest the five members yesterday afternoon in Athens.
As emerged it emerged from the investigation, at least since last September, they had formed a criminal group, with distinct roles and continuous action to commit murders and robberies in the wider area of central Athens, with the aim of obtaining illegal profit. The leader, acting as the mastermind was responsible for coordinating the attacks, while the other three members acted together with the leader in the violence against the victims, with the fifth Pakistani having the role of “lookout man”.
The gang had a “base” in two houses in areas of the centre of Athens, and carried out the robberies, either by breaking into shops, or by surprise attacks on the street, during which they used egregious violence (using a knife and, in some cases, a pistol) against their victims.
