When: Mumbai Indians vs Delhi Capitals, Qualifier 1, Thursday, November 5, 2020, 19:30 IST

Where:Dubai International Stadium

What to expect: Mumbai Indians, even in their losses, have managed to post 170+ totals at the venue. The sluggish nature of the wicket could test the batsmen and the question mark over dew still remains. Even though there won't be a lot of wind, the temperature is expected to hover around the late 20s, which shouldn't be testing on the players.

Squads

Delhi Capitals Squad: Prithvi Shaw, Shikhar Dhawan, Ajinkya Rahane, Shreyas Iyer(c), Rishabh Pant(w), Marcus Stoinis, Daniel Sams, Axar Patel, Ravichandran Ashwin, Kagiso Rabada, Anrich Nortje, Harshal Patel, Shimron Hetmyer, Mohit Sharma, Alex Carey, Avesh Khan, Praveen Dubey, Sandeep Lamichhane, Keemo Paul, Tushar Deshpande, Lalit Yadav

Mumbai Indians Squad: Rohit Sharma(c), Quinton de Kock(w), Suryakumar Yadav, Ishan Kishan, Hardik Pandya, Kieron Pollard, Krunal Pandya, James Pattinson, Rahul Chahar, Trent Boult, Jasprit Bumrah, Dhawal Kulkarni, Saurabh Tiwary, Aditya Tare, Mitchell McClenaghan, Chris Lynn, Jayant Yadav, Anmolpreet Singh, Anukul Roy, Mohsin Khan, Sherfane Rutherford, Digvijay Deshmukh, Prince Balwant Rai, Nathan Coulter-Nile

If Mumbai Indians score 170+, it's anyways enough for DC. They don't have in them to chase 170+ with batsmen like Shaw, Pant, Rahane and Iyer.

But Delhi has the bowling to stop MI under 170.

Did you know?

- A win would give Delhi their maiden appearance in the final - the only side from the eight original franchises not to make it to the final yet.

Teams:

Mumbai Indians (Playing XI): Rohit Sharma(c), Quinton de Kock(w), Suryakumar Yadav, Ishan Kishan, Hardik Pandya, Kieron Pollard, Krunal Pandya, Nathan Coulter-Nile, Rahul Chahar, Trent Boult, Jasprit Bumrah

Delhi Capitals (Playing XI): Prithvi Shaw, Shikhar Dhawan, Ajinkya Rahane, Shreyas Iyer(c), Rishabh Pant(w), Marcus Stoinis, Daniel Sams, Axar Patel, Ravichandran Ashwin, Kagiso Rabada, Anrich Nortje

Delhi Capitals have won the toss and have opted to field

I think they can give the choice of batting/fielding to the top-ranked team, so that the No.1 placed team gets some additional benefit compared to the No.2 ranked team! Similarly No.3 team should get the same preference against No.4 team in the eliminator! And then in the 2nd qualifier, the winner of the 1st eliminator should get that preference compared to the loser of 1st qualifier! This will give a fair advantage to all the teams!

Sams can play an IPL play off but Franchises won’t consider buying Shaheen Afridi? Mamoon

Sams is a famous fried chicken franchise in England

De Kock just enjoyed some of that in the first over

I’m looking forward to a Mumbai vs RCB qualifier 2. Would be fantastic based on what’s going on off the field :afridi

Sams hasn't taken a wicket the whole tournament, seems like Ponting called in a favor for a mate or something, surely theres better bowlers out there.

Rohit in knockouts/play-offs:
19 inngs
229 runs
Avg 12.72
SR 101.32
3 X ducks

Hitman is not in touch.
Hope he saving runs for Aus tour, wishing him for complete recovery.

rohit does not look 100% at all

No issues for MI

If not Rohit - Quinton
If not Quinton - SKY
If not SKY - Ishan
If not Ishan - Pandya
If not Pandya - Pollard
If not Pollard - Krunal

Bumrah, Boult, Coulter strong bowling attack

Don't worry about hitman people. Plenty of gas in our tank to see of anyone!

Iyer was looking like a calm and impressive captain but since DC losing he doesn't look as impressive.

SKY should play in Indian T20 team ahead of spin basher Shreyas Iyer or specialist fielder Manish Pandey.

Suryakamar is very good batsman.i have seen him few times looks very impressive.Would love to have him in Pakistani team.

Do you think rcb can beat srh in qualifier 1??
I don't think so!

IPL is good drama and right now there is no bigger drama than Kohli vs Rohit. Probably unlikely since Mumbai is doing well right now and will perhaps go straight to the finals. Still, one can hope :kohli :afridi

MI need 170+ to be safe. Looking difficult with DC pulling things back in the last few overs

Pollard should have batted below Pandya H. He made a mistake there. Big wicket in a high pressure game.

This has been an incredible tournament for Ishan Kishan.

This has been an incredible tournament for Ishan Kishan.

Yup, could be the breakthrough year for him, headed to 500+ in a season. Only issue is he hasn't kept at all. Will that impact his chances of being considered for the national selection as a keeper-batsman?

With Sharma & Pollard hitting ducks, if DC doesn't win today, they won't win in the second eliminator either.

On a longer run, it can be an issue but at the moment, India's keeper in LOI cricket is KL Rahul. Ishan will certainly be considered and if Samson remains inconsistent, Kishan can overtake him in the reckoning of no.5 slot in T20s.

In ODIs, it looks harder because we may go with Pandya at 6 and a bowling all-rounder at 7 and KL is anyways at no.5.

Rabada and Nortje going off the boil at crucial stage of the tournament for DC. Not helping them at all.

Credit to MI for neutralising their threat in end overs.

What hitting by Pandya against Rabada and people here compared him to Faheem lol

Then comes the next standard (It is IPL - the pyjama league with Zero Pressure or Useless pressure!) So Rabada will actually be bowling at 25% of his abilities (it is fun cricket you know!)

Not to mention that even the pitch and conditions will be automatically adjusted according to Indian Batsmen (and to bowlers if Indian is bowling!)

Ishan has come of age. I haven't rated him due to his immature attitude in past but he looks in a better state of mind now.

Pandya doing pandya thing :sa

Pandya can do all the bashing in these leagues. Nobody cares. He went missing when the team needed him the most during NZ WC semifinals. Will not take this guy's batting seriously until he does something noteworthy in the international matches that matter the most.

Pandya is the greatest hitter of our generation. The best part of all is he does all that with a touch of arrogance. He is the type of 'Battameez' batsman than Inzy was talking about. Champion cricketer.

Ishan Kishan much better than Pant. He should be in Indian T20 side. Hardik is a dangerous lower order batsman.

6/7 of Indian players in this Mumbai side should be playing T20Is for India.

Rohit
Rahul
Kohli
SKY
Kishan (WK)
Pandya
Tewatia
R Chahar
Bumrah
Shami
Chahal/Bhuvi/Deepak/Saini

:)

im sure posters on here were saying Shaw is the next kohli, but 10x better? only seen him in this years IPL but the guy looks terrible.

India can basically play 5-6 players from MI team in their T20 team.

Rohit
Rahul
Kohli
SKY
Kishan
H Pandya
K Pandya/ W Sundar/Jaddu
Bhuvi
Shami/Saini
Chahal
Bumrah

Shaw will be eaten alive by Starc/Hazelwood in Australia.

Hope Gill or Vihari open with Mayank.

Nothing makes me more happy than watching Rahane getting out.

Once again, I am confirmed about T20 - it's a bowling game. Those 20 overs with ball will determine the result most times. The rules and playing conditions are so much skewed towards batsmen that bowlers are handicapped - within that limitations, whoever has better attack will be more successful.

This was true for PAK T20 teams in first few years, this is true for AFGs now and this was true for WIN as well when they had Narine, Bravo and that Leg Spinner guy.

What is going on? :))

No problem Dilli, Pant will win it for you today :kp

Are you a DC Fan? :yk

I support no team in IPL and follow it just for fun. But generally like Delhi as a city more than Mumbai. Also considering Delhi is massive underdog, so little bit of support to banta hai.

Experts:- Rahane is a Test specialist but still good enough to adapt to T20 cricket.

Reality:- Rahane is mediocre in all formats, can't survive Boult's inswinger, can't score quick runs.

Pommie Mbangwa and Simon Dooull called it out in the 3rd or 4th over of MI innings. That DC looked defensive in their approach holding their key pacers back , opening with Sams etc.

MI will be hard team to beat , Very strong batting unit , backed by two top notch wicket taking bowlers in Boult and Bumrah.

Pant should have been send at number 4 , he would be in early and would have overs to bat , set himself in.

MI big match experience coming through here, on the other hand Delhi never made the final before and it shows why with this cautious approach,

Pant would be expected to bat long and deep till 15th over at least from here , and then assess the situation.

Did you miss the 20+ thread on PP debating that?

Must have. Was it recent? Otherwise two years ago with both at minimal stages of development and Faheem was “performing” as a t20 bowler many made such claims without looking at potential or other mitigating factors.
