Arthur recently said that it is important for him to be in the PSL to see the talent up close.

Just from the squads yesterday, there was Talat, Butt, Farhan, Gohar, Ibtisham
, Gul and Khushdil.

Who do karachi have or produced?

They have irfan jnr who tbh doesnt look intnl cricket level and Usama who has been poor since the last edition.

If the pak national coach is more interested in Afridi and settled national players like babar, amir, usman and bopara than he should leave the pak team and put all his effort into Karachi

Somewhat of career move was by making amir captain that too after Morgan had stunk up the place

3 Different Captains i.e. Imad, Ian Morgan, Amir messed up Karachi big time. Also don't understand this fascination with Babar Azam, don't let his 50's fool you, he ends up sucking the momentum out of the innings.

Afridi coming to the Karachi team injected a fresh spirit and energy

Karachi's owner Salman Iqbal is the biggest problem. His main effort goes into trying to impress 'a few ppl' that ends up tainting Karachi's reputation and making it a very OTT outfit. There is a way to do things, and the best approach I like is from the Islamabad dugout and how they handle their things. The owner has no role in the selection of the players, and they almost never go for the lottery pick. They have scouts and they make they get the best talent from Pakistan there.

They don't do things over the top and all their players have smart roles and they provide utility.

Salman selected Gayle for Karachi Kings last season despite seeing how bad he was for Lahore last season, and he had to pay him because he was a diamond pick and he paid the most money for him of all players... Thats the sort of stuff he does.

Salman Iqbal has many franchises, and he looks to be somoene who has unlimited resources so he acts like a boy in high school who has many beautiful cars, so he comes with one every other day to impress ppl, but usually ends up making a fool of himself.

Their PSL Selections make no sense. What has Mohd Amir done for Karachi Kings? Why does he keep getting played game after game when he doesn't take wickets?

Both teams who's owners are celebrities are trying to be in the camera all the time and their team ends up performing like duds.

Like I said, team is Karachi, but its trying to be all inclusive, and OTT but it ends up taking away its ownership from the Karachi ppl. Bring in Sarfraz he is rotting away in Quetta Gladiators, which is a nothing team without its foreign players who always bail on them in crucial times.

Bringing in Afridi was the first decent move he made which he should've made a long time ago.

Even picking up Mitch Johnson was a poor move that ended up blowing in his face.

Bahria Town + ARY = Over the top, flashy, materialism with no substance at all. Kinda like their Ramzan Transmissions

Yeah the guy who scored 5 fifties (most in this season with Ronchi) is to blame. Karachi new what they were getting with babar, a consistent player whose SR would be around 120-125 and that's exactly who they got. Babar did his job but the hitters in the team couldn't do their job. "sucking the momentum out of the innings" is rubbish. Where were the other karachi batsmen? why afridi failed to score runs or imad or bopara or khurrum? It was up to them to hit it out of the park while babar scored at SR of 122 giving them the platform they needed to launch.

LOL when it matters Afridi goes missing 9 out of 10 times.

The owner has a stupid fascination with filling the team with star players. You really don't need too many stars. The team should be built around 3 guys...Amir...Imad...and Babar. No need to buy the Morgans, Gayles, Johnsons, etc...just some good players who can get it going. I think the core bunch of local players is good...the foreign player bucket needs some focus.

From all 3 PSL, 5 of the emerging players from United have gone on to be selected for Pakistan.

Rumman Raees, Shadab Khan, Hussain Talat, Asif Ali and Ammad Butt (was picked in one of the squads). That doesn't include players like Sharjeel and Latif who made successful comebacks to the team. The only player they failed to develop and invest in was Babar.

From the social accounts, a lot of credit has been given to cricket journalists employed by United. Apparently, they were the scouts who the United management listened to when making their picks.

Which leaves an interesting question? Should journalists be involved in the selection process for the national team? They seem to have a lot more information about upcoming players then selectors. PP is a fine example of this where several upcoming players are highlighted by Saj and other mods/admins.

Islamabad is the best franchise in terms of young cricketers, always pick the correct players and give them chances. hope to see Dean Jones as the coach of Pakistan one day.

My point was they did hire journalists as selectors for their team. Yes, I agree that not all journalists are the same and certain ones should be kept far away from selection as possibile. My point was that should the PCB look elsewhere apart from ex cricketers when looking to hire selectors.

Hypothetical scenario, but let's say Sethi rings Saj tomorrow and hires him to work with Inzy. I don't think anyone from this forum would think that was a bad idea.

Has any team other than ISU given new players to the National Team ?

Maybe Lahore with Fahkar, but he was on the verge of selection regardless
