"Misbah and I are the only people to leave Pakistan captaincy without being kicked out" : Imran Khan

Imran Khan speaking after Misbah-ul-Haq's retirement:

"The only way you enjoy captaincy is when you are not scared to leave it"

"If you cannot do that, then you should leave captaincy; Thats how I approached it"

"The only reason I became captain was that there were 2 factions amongst the players and they they chose me as captain"

"I think I was the only captain who left captaincy without being kicked out and I believe, Misbah is the only other captain who will leave without being kicked out"

Can Sarfraz understand this?

Is it true. How about inzi he also left on his own isn't it.

Nope. Inzi was kicked out.

By the end of his career people really hated inzi, the world cup group stage loss was fresh in everyones minds and everyone was after inzamam. Inzamam was pretty much forced to hang his boots.

Also akhtar might have his ego hurt as imran didnt mention him :))

it was about captains...and yess inzi was kicked out and he took money from the board...

he must be joking.

- IK wanted to go to England
- Chairman announced Misbah's last series without even discussing with Misbah.

Akthar would acknowledge that coming from IK and yes akthar was kicked out too... Waqar actually felt the nightmare of 2003 CWC match against India and didnt want to repeat it in 2011 Mohali opted for wahab and Umar gul.. But to waqar's luck Umar got the phainta and he is gone for ever never made a promising comeback..

?? no.

CHairman allowed Misbah to make his decision after the meeting was held then chairman said he was gonna retire

Shoaib Akhtar's phainty from NZ was the reason why he was dropped, after that Pakistan played 4 games, and he couldn't get into the team has Wahab was bowling good and was not doing anything wrong.

GUl was also going great.

For a legit legend, Imran really is so full of himself. Needless comment.

Imran is the only Pakistan captain who is probably ended it on a high, don't think even if Misbah wins a series vs WI, it will be as good as Imran winning the World Cup

I agree with IK here. Most of our players don't know when to leave respectfully.

I pasted the quote in other thread, one day before Misbah made the announcement.

Technically, Chairman made announcement on Misbah's behalf.

During misbahs conversation with a journalist during the grade 2 tournament he indicated this series would be his last.

I cannot provide better evidence than what i have already provided.
Chairman clearly stating that no discussion occurred.
I am not ruling out the possibility of back door negotiation (stick and carrot)

But by announcing that WI tour is Misbah's last, he basically sacked the Misbah.

If Misbah retires or not, WI is his last series.

As Misbah refused to retire from T20 even after he was sacked T20, then Aus series, then PSL ...so PCB had to go public.

I wonder how many would believe about above statement of chairman in 5 years time...
and new generation would consider that Misbah left on his own terms...just the same way even IK thinks that he left gracefully in 92.

Imran is correct here, but not 100%.

He won the WC with injury & PAK tour of ENG was in 3 months time. He started his Test career in ENG, and there was gossip that he'll go to ENG for one last time, which he decided not to.

Here Misbah was given the option to retire on his own, just like Imran. Then he came to know that he'll have to retire after WI tour, therefore announced it a day after Chairman PCB informed it to mass.

Both gentlemen do their office at the same building, therefore don't think it was too difficult to disclose such a big new together, if everything was so "straight & smooth".
