Abbas’ is the most impressive performance in that list. Well done, and hoping for more in the near future.

Can we list out all the 10 for taken by pakistani quicks in test match cricket.

Also wondering where this ranks in terms of fast bowling performances overall in minds of posters. Yes Australia arent great but 10 wickets in these conditions is one of best bowling performances in a long time in such conditions.

lol you can practically see the Wasim Waqar rivalry swapping 10fers there for a decade!

Anyone getting a ten for in Faisalabad was a genius. I saw waqar get his two ten fors against NZ on TV..that was a amazing spell. Fast inswinging reverse swinging yorkers were amazing to watch..But this performance from Abbas is one of the best in the modern age. His style and technique and skill is top notch..

The fact that Asif, Shoib Akhtar, Wasim and Waqar still feature in top 6 in that list shows how far Pakistan fast bowling level has fallen.

He looks the real deal, not only is he producing match after match for Pakistan, he has also had a great season in country cricket. Reminds me a bit of McGrath, and of course Asif who was one of my favourite Pakistan seam bowlers.

No doubt the no 1. test bowler in the world. Getting 7 wickets on that road in dubai and now getting 10 wickets in abu dhabi is no joke. He bowled jaffas out of nowhere. Can't wait to see him in South Africa

Abbas talking about size of his hands said that someone told him that only other player who could grip the ball and have his fingers touch the other fingers was Mohammad Asif! Possibly a reason for his success?

So Abbas averages lessar against England and Australia than he does against minnows SL and WI... but I thought his average was built on cheap minnow wickets :sree

This guy is a real deal. Bowling so well even in UAE. Early days, but a fantastic start.

Any pacer would love to average 25 against Sri Lanka in Asia but for Abbas, that series is like a failure. He's had a truly amazing start to what will hopefully be, a long, successful career, InshAllah.

He did well in England which according to posters here most of the pacers do. Regarding Australia, they are not minnows, but this particular team in UAE is minnow level. So, yeah, Abbas has to prove more.

Salute to this great nation which has given world class such amazing world class fast bowlers. What a list! But very shocked to know that 10fers have been so rare in last 15-20 years. Even India has more in last 10 years. Shocking but let's hope Abbass will bring the golden era back.

He will be a star.

Michael Vaughan is saying Abbas will get him out within 6 balls

Paul Collingwood said he got him out first ball and second innings he escaped first ball close LBW shout

Stuart Broad is saying Abbas is amazing bowler

Dale Steyn is saying Abbas could be best test bowler

Ab de Villiers is praising Abbas

But all of that pales in comparison to some anonymous expert over the internet called WengerOut who thinks "he has to prove more"..... obviously the internet expert knows more about cricket than all of those people I mentioned.

People may not realize this looking at these stats that the biggest underlying factor that caused this long dry spell for our quicks is the ill fated 2009 attackon our guests and our resulting inability to play home games. Our home tracks may not be most suitable for pacers but home advantage is home advantage. You put any of the top bowlers in the world in a situation we fave and i would like to see how well they perform.

This problem has been the bane of our existence. Playing matches at home in front of our own is a big massive part of the development of cricketers and a generation now has been deprived of that.

People outside Pakistan and India realize how big this factor is. Seen numerous Australians, English etc comment on the fact that it's a miracle we continue to be a force in international cricket considering a lot of players have no idea about the feeling of playing cricket infront of their home crowds. A generation of young budding cricketers have no hope of watching their stars perform infront of their eyes.

Do you think he is better than Rabada, Anderson, Steyn, Philander?

Regarding tweets, please go through Vaughan tweets. He is very spendthrift in giving out praises for Prithvi Shaw as well.

Please let me know where I said that?

Outstanding performance. He has the potential to become top rated test bowler. Pak finally has a world class bowler in tests.

What's telling to me is that the answer is not ready to hand, either way. Could you say these bowlers are clearly better than Abbas right now? Could Philander or Anderson or Steyn or Hazlewood in current form have taken these wickets in the UAE? It doesn't feel like it at all. But it is not merely form in the UAE. Abbas outperformed Anderson in England this summer, where is Jimmy is supposed to be a God. Abbas has the lowest average of them all, the best SR of them all. You put to sprinters next to each other, X outperforms Y, and you conclude that Y is still better than X? If you do that a few times it starts to look absurd. That is the argument you will soon have to be making. And it is very telling that it is precisely in those kind of moments of uncertainty where people become most adamant about the commonsensical, "every knows" etc. When you can't actually argue a case, you end up pleading it.

The correct analogy would be a 100m race between X and Y, with Y outrunning X for the first 20m and after that 20 m everyone proclaims Y is the greatest thing since sliced bread. I will leave the figuring out of X and Y to you.

At his peak Waqar was the most devastating of them all , closest to Marshall. Nearly unplayable.

He does not have pace of Rabada .

His strength is he knows his limitations and sticks to that , does not try anything fancy. talent is not all in cricket , its also about temperament , discipline and hard work , he comes from humble background. He worked as welder , he knows the value of hard work.

I was on Twitter and lots of Indians were saying Bumrah is better on the tweets of Abbas’ performance. They were really serious about it too—yikes!

I like him. Just that people go overboard here looking at the start of a career Nd start dismissing long time certified performers just like that is cringe worthy.

Finally a medium fast bowler who can make the ball walk talk and even swim. He definitely is the torchbearer of our fast bowling now in Tests.
If you look at the 10fers by Pakistani pacers, the only odd ones are Sikandar Bakht and Mohammad Zahid. Zahid had his career curtailed due to spate of injuries. That leaves Sikandar Bakht as the odd one out. Hopefully Abbas will replicate some of the performances of the great ones in that list.

Once W&W retired, the torch was passed on to Shoaib Akhtar, who did well enough in his limited appearances. After Shoaib played his last Test, Asif had the torch yet he threw it far away. Hopefully Abbas has finally found it and will keep it high for some time now.

the only thing is that the "Y" has the best average among all bowlers who have taken 50 or more wickets in the past 100 Years..

Ironically he is a similar line and length bowler like Asif. Looks like tear away fast bowlers running through sides for Pakistan is increasingly becoming a distant dream. I guess we could put that down to absence of reverse swing.

Ajmal, then Shah and now Abbas, Pakistan can not stop producing record breaking bowlers in the 21st century.

Or just claims that Y has been faster than X for the past 20 meters? That's what people are actually saying, about Abbas. I certainly haven't said anything about sliced bread, I am sure of that.

Many people here are not bothered about the remaining 80m and started hailing the new 100m champion.

Who cares, give me wicket taking bowlers every single time.

Prithvi Shaw is an exciting young talent. Why shouldn't he be getting praised?

I didn't realise it had been that long until I tweeted it.

Incredible really considering that Pakistan is regarded as a pace-bowling factory. One could say that there have a been a few pacers recently who have flattered to deceive and not as good as was expected.

Less surprising when you consider what we had to work with in the past 10-12 years, and where Pakistan have played most of their cricket

The only fast bowler who was capable of 10 wicked is Amir, and he's clearly been an disappointment. Everything else has been spinners

I'm not sure. The way some of our pace bowlers have been hyped and behaved, you'd think they had taken 10 wickets in Tests many times.

For a pace obsessed nation like Pakistan, it is surprising to see that the last Pakistan pace bowler to take 200 test wickets was Waqar Younis in the 90's. Its been two decades and in these 20 years only Yasir Shah has been able to breach the 200wkt mark in test cricket.

If the current decade (2020-2030) also doesn't produce a 200wkt Pakistan pace bowler then the legacy will be hit hard.

Mo. Abbas and Shaheen Afridi are on track though if they play all test matches in next 5 years.

After Waqar and Wasim a series of talents emerged.. but were mismanaged or they themselves were to blame. No wonder Shoaib keeps on bragging about 90's stars.

Definitely shaheen he should aim for 400 wickets if he keeps playing tests
