That's the claim the commentators in the Pak vs Zim game just made.

Firstly - is this accurate?

If so - surely it is madness is it not?

If a player - specially a fast bowler who has played a lot of cricket across all three formats in the past few years, and was struggling with injury in the UK - asks for rest, surely he should be given it?

Mickey:

I am going to sit with Mohammad Amir and Inzamam-ul-Haq soon and we are going to map out a future for him. We need all our bowlers firing when it's time for the 2019 World Cup so that we are in a position to choose the best possible squad we can have for that tournament. We also want to make sure that those players are not tired and are ready to deliver their best performances over that period for us. This is a discussion Inzamam and I will have between ourselves and then we will discuss this topic with the players too. After our discussions, Inzamam will present the plan to the selection panel and then to the players. Between all of us, we will have something concrete to work with, in what will be a very busy period leading up to the 2019 World Cup.

Wrong move by the team management and the PCB IMO.They could have rested him for either the T20 tri series or the ODIs.

Agreed. Should have rested him for this tri series and rested Hasan Ali for the ODI's.

I remember during Mickey's time at South Africa, injured players used to be part of squad and travel with the time so as to keep team culture strong and everyone aware of team plans, roles and strategies.

He cannot find a place in the playing XI. Others are performing better than him. So I guess he can be rested in these meaningless T20 games.

If WC19 is the target then he has not lost his place in the ODI XI I suppose.

I think the captain has to do with this as well. Sarfraz as a captain takes these rubbish T20s very seriloudly and he doesn't want to relinquish that no 1 spot

After the bashing he received from Scotland I think Amir is looking for excuses not to play T20Is, especially against minnows..would hurt his reputation if he gets another hiding. Honestly there's no excuse not to play, it's only 4 overs a match and the last he played was over 2 weeks ago. If anything, he should be rested when it comes to tests in UAE.

He hasn’t been selected against Australia either.

He has missed Pakistan’s last 3 T20Is
