What's new

Mohammad Amir is not the same bowler he was back in 2010!

Hairline Fracture on the hand? :yk

Yes.

The 29-year-old Pakistan paceman delivered nine overs but appeared in discomfort until he was taken off. Scans on his hand confirmed a hairline fracture, ruling him out of proceedings in Colombo.

“Wahab underwent X-rays after play on Thursday and they showed a hairline fracture on his left-hand,” team manager Naveed Cheema told reporters. - DAWN

There was no need to play your frontline bowlers in this series I think. Aamir is playing all three formats. Maybe the workload is getting to him.

He needed rest and asked PCB for it but Mickey and Inzi didn't consider this request for whatever reasons.

But the way Amir is behaving is disgusting, you are playing for your nation and this ain't a joke, you need to give your 100% everytime, his body language is pathetic and he is bowling slower than even Zimbabwean pacers.

In CT Amir was wicketless for first few games, but no one was complaining bcz he was giving his 100% and creating chances continously and putting pressure on batsmen which ultimately helped others. He simply should retire from Tests if he doesn't want to play, you can't say I will play only high profile games, nobody has the right to say it, he is doing all this intentionally, he was below average against Sri Lanka in Tests last year but this year in UK he was a completely different bowler who was swinging it, probably the fastest among all bowlers who played in that series. All this leads to one thing that he is doing it intentionally.

He should be dropped from all formats for now and not given any NOCs for any league and told to rest in his house. This behavior is not expected from anyone especially from someone whose image isn't good for reasons we all know.

I know he will be a completely different bowler in CWC 19 and might probably be the best bowler in the tournament but you can't only play WCs and CTs and sit down at home rest of the year while playing dfrnt leagues. He was bowling brilliantly for Essex last year and was bowling with same intensity in every match, he even won player of month in county bcz he knew if he didn't perform they would have kicked him out and it would have meant no further county deals. And PCB should do same.

He needs to stop this drama, Hasan and Faheem have aslo been playing continously since last year and they have never done such things.

I wholeheartedly agree with this.

It's truly pathetic watching Amir ball currently, no heart, soul, passion, and rhythm in his bowling. Shouldn't be rested, instead should be dropped and told to explicitly that YOU ARE BEING DROPPED until you decide to care and show your worthy for selection in the international team.

There are literally 100s of bowlers in Pakistan domestic that would kill for a place in Pakistans starting xi. Here we have Amir who thinks he is entitled to it. Frustrates me seeing him act like this. Putting the Pakistan jersey on should always be about giving your 100%, not "oh I will pick and choose my series" or I will only bring my A game in tournaments or high-level series (went missing in New Zealand as well).

Or maybe he is just not good enough to perform consistently? There have been many mediocre players who were brilliant on their day.

The simplest explanation is usually the correct one.

Talk of Amir not being motivated enough to take wickets strikes me as far fetched.

Drop him! Simple as that. He is no Wasim Akram, he isnt even our best bowler. Abbas is better than him in Test, Hasan and Usman are better than him in odi’s and and he could be easily replaced by Shaheen Afridi. t20’s I dont care about.

To be fair to Amir ever since I made the thread he delivered an ICC Trophy and has performed well in high profile games; needs to be more consistent and his work load must be managed a lot more effectively looking ahead to prevent serious injury. There has been too much hype which is unfair to him but if we look beyond that he has been solid and compatibly one of our best pacers across all forms.

He is saving himself for the big tournaments and I am fine with that. He should not have been in Zimbabwe in the first place.

Lol at the looserish excuses i.e. he is not motivated, he is tired, lacks energy. Its very simple, he is not good enough as people think he is. He does not know how to take wickets in comparison to Usman Shinwari and Hasan Ali

Lol even Junaid has a better record than Amir considering Junaid has played the vast majority of his cricket on flat, dead pitches of UAE in comparison to Amir.

By now I think it is fair to say that there has been too much hype about the hype. All we are asking of Amir is that he performs fairly consistently to some kind of standard. It is easy to forgive him on account of his CT final heroics, but if it had not been for Hasan and the unsung Junaid, the second best pacer of the tournament, ahead of Bumrah and Boult, we would not have made it that far. Rather striking, then, that no one has thought to come to Junaid's defense by arguing that for all of his shortcomings, he has actually proven himself to be the kind of player who "performs when it matters," and all that blah blah. Not just for one match, but an entire tournament. Much the same btw could be said for Azhar, an awful ODI player for much of his career, but pure gold in the CT, where he was solid as a rock, and could well have scored another century in the final had it not been for the run out. My own feeling is that a certain kind of ideology is providing perverse cover for Amir. We live increasingly in an age in which those who are poor and powerless are felt to deserve their fate, because they simply failed to "want it badly enough." With Amir, we refuse to believe that he could simply be a talented, but highly inconsistent bowler, and need to believe that the problem is that he cannot be bothered to do well.

Though he hasn't got many wickets, I have to say that when he opens the bowling with the new ball he looks very good and better than the rest of the Pakistani bowlers.

Amir is always dangerous, by far the best Pakistani bowler.

Just seems like hes got motivation issues when it comes to certain low level games

For some reason he just cant jee himself up for jamodis

IThe bigger the stage the better he performs

Amir in 2009-10 would take wickets by firing in and most of his victims would be bowled, lbw or caught behind.
The spell he bowled today, exceptional nonetheless, but was very different from the younger and raw Amir. He used the smarts and induced mistakes from the batters by being one step ahead of them rather than throwing 145-150kph hoopers.

He's better than the trash like Shaheen and Hasan

Shaheen is trash? Granted his lengths have been a bit over the place, but the guy is a teenager and has exceptional ability & talent. Let's not be fickle.

Just a few weeks ago, he was literally the only guy taking wickets for Pakistan and was sole bright spot in the few dismal series we've had in the recent past.

Also, there has to be accountability of what exactly is the bowling coach doing and what exactly is he asking of the bowlers. Hasan and Shaheen both loved bowling full when they were new to the international scene. Now both of them bowl those useless back of length slower balls for absolutely no reason and ruin the whatever pressure they've built previously.

Sure, if he has talent then he should be honing his craft in domestic cricket instead of losing us crucial matches.

Sure he had one good series, all others have been trash.

And I agree on your third point.
