Got this ranking on April 11th. :shezzy

* Only player from Pakistan in the top 10.
* Only ODI batsman other than Babar Azam in top 20 (in batsmen' ranking). The only other ODI batsman close is Sarfraz, at 36 rank.

Think he'll get to number 1 spot in ICC Champions Trophy.

Pretty much expected as he's been relatively decent (vs. others in the team) when it comes to both minnows and good teams, with a healthy overall average. Cashing only against the minnows won't lead you anywhere.

Sometimes, people hate him a bit too much and due to personal likes/biases, end up hyping up others who are only hurting the team.

Still, it's better we find young replacements soon.

Have high expectations from him at the Champions Trophy. :shezzy

His all-round abilities will be very handy indeed. :malik

Shadab and Hafeez make great allrounders for the time being.

Sadly, Sarfraz still doesn't want Shadab to bat.

If he is allowed to bowl, he is indeed one of the best all-rounders of the LO game.

I expect him to play a big role in our fortunes in the champions trophy

I expect him to get called for chucking again.

He doesn't chuck anymore. Open your eyes.

Only Babar Azam and Sarfraz are better bats than him in the team.

And he bowls beautifully. In the current scenario, one of our most utility players.

Pakistan's major problem is openers. 3 all-rounders in Hafeez, Shadab, and Imad provide great batting and bowling depth. Just need to find right openers. Clearly, Kamran and Shehzad are not the answer.

I suggest moving Hafeez to opening and move everybody one position up.

Hafeez should be in the team but as an opener. We don't have any good openers in the whole of Pakistan it seems, so Hafeez batting there won't really hurt us. Plus, I can see him doing well against Sri Lanka and India.

Yet you're doing all you can to undermine Malik and call for his removal.

Joke of a poster who puts his favourites over the team.

Hafeez opening in England? No thanks.

Hafeez has won more matches than Ajmal has. Don't agree? See the number of MoMs for each of them in ODIs

Better than Hafeez batting at #3 or Hafeez batting at #4 and pushing better batsmen down the order.

Hafeez at #4 works IF he can bat like he did last Tuesday. He would be gold in that case.

And no, being 0/1 is not better than anything.

Sarfaraz needs to be higher up the order and Babar and Malik are set at #3 and #5. The only remaining slots are the opening positions and #4. Hafeez is an opener, has opened all his life and should get back to doing that while Sarfaraz can be one of our main bats at #4, instead of being ineffective at #6 or #7. It's not just about Hafeez but more about what's best for the team.

Sri Lanka and India are not dismissing Hafeez for a duck. He's not as bad as you think he is.

Jub musibat ati hai tou chaaron taraf se hi ati hai.

Not only did this guy have two 'good' innings against minnow Windies he shot up to number two in the alrounders ranking. Right now Professor's position in the side is more stable than Kaptaan Sarfaraz.

ab jub team mein aaahe gaya haito dua karo ke india ke khilaf 30 40 karai aur 2 ya 3 wickets of lefties le le khair se. Its not like if indias bowling is top rated. At number 4 he would be playing spin so he might score runs at a better strike rate

let it go
go with the flow

Regards

HAHAHA...a lot of good PPer's getting EXPOSED!!! his ratings in the past 2 years are massively dissapointing... he is at 2 just because of the older performances...

ICC really needs to do something, after playing 2 years, Malik boosted up to 24.

Hawkeye is telling me to open my eyes???:)):))

Ranking considers volume & opponent, not context; therefore MoHa will always be among top all rounders. For example in last ODI series, statistically he was indeed among the best performer - around 200 runs at 65/90 & 3 wickets at 50/4.0 stats should earn him lists of points, even against WI. But, those who have seen the game live should know actually what he did in 1st 2 matches & that was evident in MoS selection. By numbers, MoHa should have been the MoS for sure. Anyway, credit to him (as long as umpires are happy)

who got mos??

Malik, both MOM in final match & MoS

Shukar Alhumdullilah, if Professor had gotten the MoS we would have never heard the end of it from Prof himself and OP.

Heh.

The hypocrisy of :malik brigade is always fun to see. Just acknowledge who's better, and who's been consistent against quality teams in the last 2 years.

Considering our opening problems with Shehzad who is too slow, I would risk opening with Sarfraz to partner Kamran Akmal for CT. So the order could look like:-

Kamran
Sarfraz
Barbar
Hafeez
Malik
Yamin?
Imad
Shadab
Amir
Hasan
Junaid

In England, Hafeez will flop as an opener in all likelihood.

I'd rather Sarfraz open than Hafeez, because the former doesn't eat up dot balls. He's opened before and has done well.

The only issue is workload, but for the short-term I wouldn't mind Kaptaan saab opening the innings.

Hafeez isn't getting dropped after batting well in the West Indies. All the negatives that you pointed out will still hold true if Hafeez bats at #3 or #4.

We all know he's not getting dropped.

Hafeez won't be facing the new ball at #4. And if he can bat like he did in the 3rd ODI, he'll actually be an asset at #4.
