Inna lillahi wa inna illayhi rajiun.

That's very sad news man. He only recently lost his father. May Allah forgive both his parents, widen their grave and grant them Jannat-ul-Firdous. May Allah make it easy for him and his family to recover from this.

Very sad news..wish him well and wish him and his family the patience to get through these trying times.

Replacement for mohammad irfan.

Going by inzi track record his replacement for aus series will b sohail tanvir.M.SAMi or aizaz cheema...but i think junaid or sadaf hussain will be ideal as junaid did well yesterday and we all know sadaf is doing well

Very very sad news.

The time when he became financially able and could take care of his parents better than before he lost both of them in short space of time.

LAHORE–JANUARY 9, 2017: Following Mohammad Irfan’s return to Pakistan due to his mother’s death, the chief selector Inzamam ul Haq after consulting the team management has named fast bowler Junaid Khan as Mohammad Irfan’s replacement for the five-match ODI series against Australia commencing from January 13, 2017.

Inna lillahi wa inna elayhi raji''un.

I thought fahim Ashraf will be replace Irfan, I heard he was in some 20 member squad for Australia :mv

Junaid khan how did he come in

When arthur already conveyed to you that fitness of some bowlers aint good, then why are they selected in the first place?

Irfan should had never been selected in the first place.

Even though i doubt it but i still hope they did a fitness test for junaid khan before selecting him

Deepest condolences to Mohammad Irfan.

Very very sad news, my prayers and condolence for Irfan and his family. I saw once his mother on a TV program, was very proud of Irfan's achievement. RIP.

My deepest sympathies on his loss.

@Mods can we please replace his pic on the home page in the panel where this headline of his mother's passing is shown? Minor nitpick, but that pic is inappropriate, IMVHO.

Its been changed as Junaid Khan news is also featuring.

The condolence thread for Irfan is in TimePass. This thread is more for the cricketing aspect of the news.

What has fitness got to do with his mother passing away?

last time he was kicked out from the team mid tour due to Fitness reasons.

Irfan always had fitness issue, i won't believe it that he has improved his fitness in the last 6 months, unless they conducted a proper fitness test.

It goes on to show that there is a major gap in communication between the selection committee and the Head Coach.

My point is, Irfan should never had been selected in the first place unless he had proven his fitness in a fitness test, same for Junaid.

I think he also deserves some sympathy.

He is not a good traveller and just like in 2010 when he was put on a flight and asked to play the next day, special care should have been taken of his travel arrangements

cramps are possible if you are tired and he is not immune to that

Inna lillahi wa inna elayhi raji''un. Very sad. M Irfan will get his chance in next series Inshallah.

very sad news man. world without your mother is just shattering:(

Junaid Khan named as replacement of M Irfan

What's wrong with Inzi? Why is he recycling all the ttfs? Who is next? Umar Gul?:facepalm:

interesting so who should have been selected

Ehsan Adil would not have been a bad choice considering he is young. I don't know what are we really trying to get from players past their sell by date. the likes of Gul,Irfan,Junaid have not value for Pakistan in the long run.

he is injured from i think last 2 to 3 months and has not played single domestic match

what about Faheem,Zia?

glad you also like them feeling soorry for zia first he was ditch from t20 squad without giving him game then he was not even consider for pakistan A after than as for fahim he deserves a chance was fantastic against zim and in domestic

Sad that a justified chance for Junaid Khan in place of the over rated Amir came because of a family tragedy

I hope he and his family remain strong in these times. Losing a mother is a terrible thing.

His fitness is terrible, it is why he has been out of the team for long. Even though he got a test debut and was very talented but his fitness is a joke.

Fitness could always improve if players work religiously on it. I doubt any of these players continued their fitness trainning after that army camp.

Also if arthur send irfan back just because of little cramps, then shouldnt had mickey arthur been scrutinised?

Don't agree with junaids selection at all. Had a poor one day cup as well.

Junaid's back of a length rubbish is going to get smashed. His only saving grace will be the death bowling.

Sad news:( Junaid Khan coming back should be good, get another good death bowler alongside Hasan.

Warner must be licking his lips at the prospect of facing Hasan Or will the young bowler rise and improve because from what I have seen, he is poor.
He isn't as bad as you are making him out to be. A 135-137 KPH accurate bowler whom can bowl at the death.

That was the need of the hour in the ODI team.

Don't mind Junaid too muh but would honestly rather have Sohail in ODIs, considering his all-round abilities.

Sad news.

Junaid as the replacement, think this will finish his career to be honest and I'm talking about Junaid's.

Even if he gets demolished, there still is a chance of him being recalled in 3-5 years unless the selectors change. The same guys recalled Sami, Gul and Irfan in last year alone.
:sami :gul :irfan

Awful news. Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raajioon

Junaid Khan has been the only international class pacer pakistan has debuted since pre ban Amir... he too is a shadow of his former self...bad time to be a Pak fan lol.

JK of the more recent vintage isn't good but the earlier version was the real deal. I hope for his sake I am wrong.

RIP.

Junaid is a bad choice. Inzi again doing his magic . What next? Call Umar Gul again?

ODI vs Australia: Junaid Khan says he is up for the challenge

Pakistan fast bowler Junaid Khan expressed jubilation on his selection in the Pakistan's One Day International (ODI) team for the Australia series, calling it a chance for him to prove himself in the field.

“This is a great moment for me... Although we are sad for the demise of [Mohammad] Irfan's mother, it is a chance for me to prove myself and my fitness in Australia,” Khan told DawnNews.

“I am experiencing the same feelings right now as I did when I was selected for the first time.”

Khan was called for the ODI series against Australia as a replacement for Mohammad Irfan, who is returning home following the death of his mother, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) officials said on Monday.

The fast bowler has not only played domestic cricket but has also played in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL), where he emerged as one of the top three best-performing bowlers. On Sunday, he took four wickets in a domestic one-day match, leading Peshawar to victory against FATA.

"Getting back in the national team after almost one and a half years is the biggest achievement that I've been waiting for since a long time,” Khan added.

The fast bowler said that he has been in form for a while, attributing his selection to his consistent performance in domestic cricket as well as the BPL where he scored the second biggest number of wickets in the tournament.

About the ODI series in Australia, Khan said he is up for the challenge as pitches there are a "bit different".

“Pitches in Australia are a bit different but I am confident to give a match-winning performance there,” the fast bowler added.

He also said that teamwork will lead Pakistan to victory in Australia.

“I cannot go there and take wickets alone. It’s a team effort, and I am sure my captain and fellow bowlers will give me all the support I'll need," he said.

“I will do my best. The rest is up to fate.”

Amir and Junaid sharing the new ball for Pakistan will be a dream come true for fans of sorts.

With Hasan Ali and Wahab at first change, I must say it's a pretty good attack.

Highly disagree.

He was so bad in the last FC cup, they dropped him from the XI.

He was equally rubbish in the OD cup last month.

This is a selection on his BPL performance and nothing else.

The fact that you're not even consdering batting abilities in modern-day LOI cricket shows your narrow-mindedness.
Lol, what?

I was specifically differentiating Junaid's and Sohail's bowling. Don't know how you've jump to the conclusion that I'm "narrow minded".

I happened to agree with your post that I happened to quote, in which you said you would have preferred Sohail ahead of Junaid.

Junaid shouldn't be anywhere near the new ball.

To be honest, I think he'll find it difficult with his height and pace against the Australian batsmen with the kind of wickets they play on in LOIs.

Will be interesting to see how he performs.
