He is 28 years old and his performances have gone unnoticed recently. In the Regional One-Day Cup at the start of the year, he was a key player for Lahore Blues. From 7 innings he scored 464 runs with a batting average of 77.33.

He's also doing well in club cricket in England. He has been playing for Bradshaw CC in the Bolton league and has been doing well, and had an amazing weekend. On Saturday, against Qaiser Abbas' team, he scored 88 off 95 balls and had bowling figures of 17-5-50-2 albeit in a losing cause.

On Sunday, he had a great day, also against Qaiser Abbas' team. He had bowling figures of 10-2-43-4 and in the successful chase he scored an unbeaten 129* off 128 balls with 14 4's and 4 6's.


I know he's not that young, but he's not that old either. If he carries this form over to the next domestic season, I think he could find himself in the Pakistan squad.

I think he played 1 match in the Pakistan Cup, scored 18 runs.
 
He is too weak physically to be successful in today's power cricket. Can become a test player but not limited over cricketer.
 
Impressive fifty on a pitch where the others have found it difficult to get going.

Thoughts on him [MENTION=142670]mak36[/MENTION]? Seems like a conventional batsman who can play around the wicket, but lacks the ability to really up the ante I think.

Fitness looks good.

Not an odi player he has strike rate in 60's in list A

But an better test player, he along with saad ali were top scorers in that FC season where dukes ball and green pitched were prepared. Saad ali scored 950 odd and mohammad saad 700 odd

He is so successful in FC because he is a backfoot player , plays ball late

I am just curious to know people's views on his ability.

His stats are quite poor overall which is why most were criticising him when Inzi selected him for the A games last year. But to his credit, he performed in those A games including a hundred.

However, he's terribly inconsistent. Those 650 he scored in that season you're referring to had 3 hundreds, but he averaged 38 ultimately so that means there were a lot of low scores. Similarly, in the current FC season he has just around 300 runs at an average of less than 30.

Haven't watched his innings from today, but have caught up on his 64 vs Federal from earlier on in the tournament.

He is very strong off his legs (wristy) but has technical flaws. Feet are glued to the pitch and he ends up in very awkward positions particularly when playing deliveries wide of off stump (not helped by his insistence of trying to play everything on the offside in front of square).

Vulnerable to deliveries that are angled in. Often plays with hard hands.

Agree he is not a modern white ball cricketer, and personally think his technique will render him vulnerable in red ball cricket.

Sure he is a hard worker but at 29 I think the boat has sailed.

Informative, thanks.

Despite his performances, I'm not sure why Inzi selected him for the A series last year when there's very little chance of him ever representing Pakistan.
 
It's obvious why he was picked for Pakistan A. He was one of the leading run scorers in the QEA trophy two years back. Those pitches were quite green and difficult. He has a backfoot technique which enables him to counter the movement and bounce.
 
The boat seems to have already sailed for him. Should have been tried at least 5 years back.. At 29 it would be really difficult for him to break through into team but one can never say never as far as PCT is concerned.

That the third day’s was turned into a contest despite Central Punjab five down for 65 and a second innings deficit of 13 runs at the start of play was due to an 80-run stand between Mohammad Saad and Saad Nasim, who resumed the proceedings at three and 14.

The two batsmen posted valiant half-centuries. Mohammad Saad top-scored with a 190-ball 77, while Saad Nasim made 52 runs from 70 balls. Both batsmen crunched 10 boundaries apiece.

Mohammad Saad hit an unbeaten 50 (7x4, 81 balls) and Qasim Akram remained 23 not out as the two batsmen added 50 runs for the unfinished fifth wicket after Central Punjab had slipped to 116 for four.

cos he's most likely not 32, he doesn't get selected for t20s and pbly got a job offer. playing first class alone is a tough gig financially.

I see.

Probably moving abroad as well on a work permit and playing/coaching cricket as a side profession
 
Mohammad Saad has scored an unbeatable century 102*(134) at batting number 5 against HEC in 1st innings for WAPDA in second round of President's Trophy 2023-24.
