Saw him bat for the first time today against India and was really really impressed. Even on commentary Ganguly was full of praise. That straight drive boundary he hit against Bumrah was class.

Cricinfo shows him as a bowling allrounder but there is a hidden batting gem in young Saifuddin. Certainly a player to keep an eye on.

I rate his batting higher than his bowling. He leaks too many runs. He has to learn how to be economical.

Isn't this the same player you said you didn't rate lol

Bd could develop him into a decent allrounder. His bowling is not that good though.

He takes wickets but he also gives away runs. If he bowls 10 overs, he may take 2-3 wickets but he will also give away 70-80 runs.

He can probably replace Mashrafe but his bowling needs to be more economical.

Looked classy really. Was finding boundaries with proper cricketing shots as opposed to Shabbir who was going for slog

This is him. Still don't rate his bowling but looks like a solid no.6 bat. Having a bowling average of 39 is nothing to write home about tbh.

Tbh i didnt see him bowl but considering how high scoring games are nowadays, a bowling average of 39 is not bad if he can bat solidly.

After he got smacked for 5 sixes in a row against Miller, I just couldn't rate him as a bowler.

Bd should really develop him into an allrounder. His batting looks decent. Looks like he needs some polishing and he could become an asset for bd.

That was in South Africa. It was a bilateral series and he was new. I think he bowls better now but still more improvements are needed.

Hopefully he'll learn from his mistakes and come back a stronger bowler. He could be really helpful for bd in 2023. BCB should really take care of this lad. Looks promising

He was playing Bumrah with relative ease and calmness compared to how some of the highly rated batsmen have done. Got a boundary and few 2s against him as well. Highly impressive.

Infact i believe he would have made it a tight game if Fizz had managed to block the last of Bumrah's deliveries.

Not as bad a bowler as people think, especially given BDs pace attack (apart from Mustafiz) got some key wickets in this WC.

Because of Mashrafe’s failure pressure is always on this lad to bowl in the death and on pressure situations. Didn't really do bad though. Should bat at number 7.

Saifuddin batted at no.7 in the 2916 U-19 WC.

His batting is actually more decent than some of you might want to believe. He is a pretty useful death bowler but perhaps in these condition you need someone a bit more pacier. His batting is pretty damn useful too. With him and Shakib we had the luxury of both 8 proper batsmen and 5 full time bowlers and yet we lost often. Lack of contribution from Openers, Mash let us down.

I actually think his bowling is not bad... He has a good Yorker and if he can add another 10ks then he'll be good..

First time I saw him bat, yesterday. Wow, gave us a lesson in batting calmly with conviction. Too good, wonder what he could ve done if wickets were intact.

Hardik Pandya has many such performances and he is a wicket taking pacer as well, but there are people who do not rate him as an allrounder. One cannot go gaga over Shaifuddin after just one performance. He looks more like a lower order batsman who can bowl a bit, a poor man's Vijay Shankar.

Very fine player. Needs to stay hungry and keep working hard, could be a real asset.

Keep Pandya and all other players out of this thread. Don’t derail it.

He couldn't finish the game when Bangladesh were right in the game.

Had no plan to finish the game

Kept on exposing tailenders

He will lose Bangladesh more games then win them games

Him and Mosdek are very talented. They will be important players for Bangladesh going forward. MMHS.

He has to improve his bowling, otherwise will lose spot. Mosaddek has to improve his batting - at present, both are border line utility players. Mosaddek will be a better batsman though in near future, Saif needs to improve bowling.

Can see Mosdek taking over from Mahamdullah.

Agree on Saif. But he will get time to improve.

Mohammad Saifuddin has most Yorkers in this world cup

Saifuddin is a beast. Great young all-rounder.

Can hit big and bowl brilliantly at the death with yorkers and slower balls.

Shows great mental strength how he recovered after that obliteration from Miller.

Saifuddin Steps Back from Cricket for Mental Health Reasons

In a heartfelt announcement, Bangladesh fast bowler Mohammad Saifuddin has opted to take a break from all cricket activities for the next two months, citing struggles with his mental health. The 27-year-old reached out to the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB), expressing that he has been grappling with depression after being unable to participate in the Global T20 League and the latest ICC T20 World Cup.

His decision comes after he was selected for the Bangladesh A team, set to compete in a series of two four-day matches and three one-day games against Pakistan Shaheens. Unfortunately, due to a delay in securing his visa amid ongoing political turmoil, Saifuddin was forced to miss the Global T20 League where he was expected to play for the Montreal Tigers.

Recently, the BCB announced that the Bangladesh A Team will head to Islamabad on August 10 for the imminent fixtures, which were postponed due to the political situation back home. The first of the four-day matches is now scheduled to take place from August 13-16, followed by the second match on August 20-23. The subsequent one-day fixtures will occur on August 26, 28, and 30.

As part of the team’s preparations, the BCB had granted Saifuddin’s No Objection Certificate (NOC) until August 8, allowing him to join the squad for their tour to Pakistan beginning August 11. A board official revealed to Cricbuzz that Saifuddin felt disheartened over missing the Global T20 due to the NOC expiry, which lasted only until August 8 instead of the anticipated August 12. Moreover, he was disappointed at not making the final 15-member roster for the ICC T20 World Cup, with selectors choosing Tanzim Shakib in his place.

In his email to the board on July 30, shortly after the A team announcement, Saifuddin conveyed his mental anguish over missing out on the Global T20 as well as the World Cup, requesting a two-month hiatus from cricket. A member of the selection panel confirmed this on Wednesday, stating, “I acknowledged his request and mentioned the importance of a conversation upon his return to Dhaka regarding his current state of mind.”

Further complicating matters, Saifuddin suffered a rib injury while training on July 26, which added to his difficulties in participating in the Global T20 League. The BCB medical committee later ruled him out of the league due to this injury, determining that undertaking a long-haul flight while in such pain was not advisable.

“He informed us just before his scheduled departure,” said a BCB medical official. “After evaluation, we concluded that traveling 20-22 hours under those circumstances would be too risky.” Saifuddin reported to the BCB a day ahead of his flight on July 24, dealing with muscle pain he had incurred during his workout. Despite receiving initial medical care, his condition did not improve, leading to the decision to prevent him from taking part in the Global T20.
