Hi guys,

Just looking for opinions on buying morrant ultralite pads and I was thinking that they are made in UK but after contacting seller I was told that they are assembled in India... just like apple design in California and assembled in china. lol

coming back to the post ..i did contact UK morrant as well and was told it will cost a lot to get it shipped to Melbourne.

"Delivery to Australia for one pair would be approx GBP 65.00.
The pads work out at approx GBP 75.00 once VAT is removed."

have been reading a lot on this site and this is my first post,Not sure if i have posted in right section or not. :)

cheers
VJ

Yes, to ship pads via courier costs a lot, although I can get pads shipped for just $60. And I think Morrant is made in India, India are the pioneers of soft goods mate. SS, SG, SF, Champ are the boss on soft Goods, between those 4 brands, they probably make over 40+ brands around the world.

SS, Champ, SF do offer similar Morrant style pads in very light weight too. I think the SS and Champ one are better than the SF though.

thanks but I am currently not looking for look like pads.. haven't heard of champ before though.
WHich pads are you guys currently using and which one is the lightest of them all...Just to add I bat at number 6 or 7 so morrant pad will just bring more of sledging I guess lol

Mate, all of those pads are very light. SS, SG, Champ all from same Meerut area. I don't know who makes Morrant gears, but I wouldn't be surprised if either of SS, SG, Champ made them. As far as I know, these 3 makes a whole lot of gears for plenty brands across the globe. You won't be disappointed with either of them.

Champ is really good quality stuff one of the largest producer of soft good and they also produce softs for many of the larger "english" companies

Yes, Ammo is correcct about Champ and correctly emphasized "english" brands. Meaning some of the brands well known across some areas of England. The same can be said for Australia. I know they do for a brand in Melbourne, and the response towards it in Australia is huge. They do bats and softs for that brand.

Sometimes its easy to know who makes whose gears, some of the brand owners are lazy to do their own design, so they end up taking the template from the makers. I've easily identified some brands made by Champ because of this. I think this was a give away with SG and Kookabura. One of Kookabura blades were exactly like the SG Stud bat.

Which "large English" brands get softs made from Champ? I can only think of smaller ones...intrigued to hear about large ones.

They don't mean GM, GN large mate. Ayrtek is one they make for, Spyder is another I think, can't quite remember 100%.

Perhaps be more specific, "large" ones in England are likes of Gunn & Moore, Gray Nicolls et cetra when it comes to mass production of soft range.

Don't think Ayrtek is.

GM, GN is worldwide brands, that's why the poster said "english". THere are some large australian brands like Impala, Sommers but hardly anyone outside of Australia use it/know much about it.
