Let's see if people can come up with an accurate list of presently playing cricketers who are extremely hard working in the sense they take their cricketing profession very seriously, they do not compromise at all when it comes to their daily fitness regime, daily diet plans and put in hours, hours of practice every day in the nets working away on their skills constantly upgrading them.

From India without question it is Virat Kohli. From Pakistan i have a feeling Babar Azam for sure has the best work ethic and following him is definately Shan Masood, maybe Hafeez (given his nickname professor) but don't think any of our current players qualify.

What about players from other countries?

Is there proof?

No one is more obsessed with batting in the world right now than Smith. I remember someone saying he shadow bats all the time. And it’s pretty obvious how much work he puts into it. Add to that the fact that he wasn’t even a proper batsman until less than 10 years ago so just imagine how much he would’ve had to work to get to where he is at right now. Plus his fitness and fielding are also top tier.

I mean is it well documented that he works away on his skills day in day out, any photographs, videos. With Kohli it is very well documented and you see his social media accounts filled with him working out daily

Nasir Jamshed, Sohaib Maqsood, Haris Sohail, Umar Akmal, Sharjeel Khan...oh wait!

watch the documentary - 'the test'

maybe Hafeez (given his nickname professor)

Not sure if you're aware but the origins of this nickname derive from Hafeez himself :)) given how mediocre his career has been i'd be quite frightened if he had to work that hard just to be hopelessly inconsistent.

It is established out of our current lot that Shadab Khan has a very good ethic. Maturity is another matter but he trains very hard.

From India I'll pick Jadeja, not talented in fact very limited, whatever he has achieved has been via self improvement. Look at his superhuman efforts while fielding, his fitness, incremental improvement in skills every passing year. From a joke in 2010, he became Ashwin's sidekick for half a decade, now he is even more valuable than Kohli in our test side. In ODIs he has managed to reinvent himself and broken the KulCha partnership. When you watch him bowl with that amazing accuracy and precision, day in and day out, one must wonder how much effort goes in the nets.

Ishant too deserves a mention, all coaches have spoken highly about his work ethic, including Gillespie. If you follow his career trajectory and how he was used by Dhoni it becomes obvious, his attitude was never a problem, only needed proper guidance. Formidable workhorse and great heart, after all the ridicule he faced as a 20-22 year old to come out so strong.

No one can even come closer to
Shivnarine Chanderpaul
He started his career at the age of 18 and almost every single day he bats in the net for consecutive 8 hours unless he is off sick

Obvious ones will Kohli and the other big 4, Azam and Masood.

However, Ben Stokes has been known to train so intensely, that he doesn't shorten the length or intensity of his training when in an actual series.

In terms of fittest players with the best work ethic, it has to be fast bowlers IMO, they have to undergo the most physically rigorous training to remain in shape and to also rehabilitate from injuries and that's not including the significant physical strain they suffer, everytime they bowl in matches.
