When ever we talk about him, it's usually about his bowling action. But my question here is different.

We have seen many, many well behaved cricketers on the field. Respect to all of them. But tell me guys, have you ever seen any cricketer who has been more well behaved than Murali? There might be cricketers on par with him in that department, but anyone more well behaved than him?

I think Misbah is one of the most humble cricketers.
Apart from the time he said he'd burn his kit ( :)) ), he's always come across as a gentleman

Yea, a true gentleman. But I've really thought and thought ..... yet I can't recall any cricketer who has conducted himself better than Murali both on and off the field. Such a nice guy.

The only time when he let himself loose is when he attacked Bishen Singh Bedi, and that too after he retired. Bedi was making disgraceful and pathetic statements against him for almost all of Murali's career. So I think it was justified on Murali's part.

Ashwin is more well behaved IMO, as much as it pains me to say this as a die hard Pakistan / Yasir Shah fan. Always very polite in interviews, and even to batsmen he's bowling to. However those batsmen get deceived by his good guy persona and become more prone to his bowling.

It's a tamil trait :afridi

Sachin, Murali, Misbah, Gilchrist come to mind.

Dravid, Misbah, Amla, ab devilliers and kallis. Azhar ali, rahane, pujara and williamson will join this list after few years.

Also i find most of the sri lankan players nice.

Wouldn't say AB. Not badly behaved, but not the best IMO.

Only time I have seen him grumpy was with Yuvraj Singh, but Yuvraj deserved it. He kept sledging Murali at Sharjah (mind you Yuvraj was only 19) ODI match. Murali gave him a doosra which bowled him through the gate and pointed the dressing room and said "practice five more years and see you then"

Misbah was amazing compared to other Pakistani players

In just the last match he REMINDED Dean Elgar that this is not JoBurg... :)

When people mentioned Misbah I instantly thought of the time where he shouted at Umar Akmal when both of them were batting due to misunderstanding when running between the wickets. Apologies for the use of language but Misbah said the word "laanat" at Umar :))) Overall I do find Sachin to be all-round polite guy.

Yeah Mural is not the nicest, the vid Thivagar posted kinda ruins it.

Best behaved cricketer is by far Michael Hussey. He'd destroy your hopes and dreams with a smile, no matter what you threw at him. Deserves the name Mr. Cricket.

Also gives Younis Khan some serious competition for the best smile in cricket.

Yes he was well behaved, but he was also the ultimate cheat. The way Bedi insulted Murali was poor, but Bedi will always be respected as a cricketer, can't say the same about Murali or Ajmal.

The chucking controversy will always overshadow anything else related to Murali's career.

How on earth is Murali well behaved. I remember in 2000 when he was ****** off at Pakistani umpires for rejecting a few of his appeals that he took his anger on the umpire by making obnoxious gestures when he got a wicket. He has the habit of getting infuriated when a batsman really gets stuck into him and gives them send offs.

Hardly the sign of a well behaved, gentleman cricketer.

I remember him claiming a caught and bowled catch off Jacob Oram once. The umpires didn't even go upstairs. He clearly dropped it, the ball rolled out (he was staring straight at it), he picked it up and started appealing. Oram got given out.

not a fan of ashwin after mankading

I personally would put Misbah and Dravid above him in the terms of on field behavior.

Misbah, Sachin, Amla...I prefer aggressive players that win and celebrate in your face. It makes it more interesting, but you need classy guys like Misbah to balance it out

I think this will make people understand what I'm saying :)))

You sure about that???

lol looks like they're trying to sledge him that's why in the way they're repeating his name. Doesn't look aggressive really, it's like telling them no I don't want to hear your sledging.

Murali was a genuinely nice guy, no doubts about that but he reacted quite aggressively to people who questioned his action.

When some tool of a commentator called Amla a terrorist, he was like whatever and accepted the guy's half-hearted apology.

So yes OP, I have. :amla

Lol, funny to see nice guys like Misbah and Gilly get ****** off. You have to be a special kind of tool to receive Misbah's laanat. :)))

For the amount of garbage hurled at him as a captain, Misbah wins this hands down.

Murali is pretty soft spoken on his own. Would have been interesting to see him react under captaincy pressure.

Spin legend Muttiah Muralitharan is in line to be the governor of Sri Lanka‘s Northern Province following the presidential elections that gave a clear majority to Gotabaya Rajapaksa.

The 47-year-old Muralitharan, who has pocketed 800 Test wickets, and was also a part of the 1996 World Cup that was won by the island nation, is facing the ire of fellow Tamil citizens over reports of him being appointed as the Governor of Tamil-dominated Northern Province.

Gotabaya Rajapaksa, who was on Monday sworn in as the Sri Lankan president a day after he was declared the winner in the closely fought election, has reportedly thrown his weight behind Muratharan.

If Muratharan does become governor, then he will join Rajapaksa presidency as the governor of the Northern province, which has a huge majority of Sri Lankan Tamils.

While no official confirmation is out so far, local Tamils are believed to oppose Murali’s appointement as the former cricketer had backed Gotabaya when he was the Defence Secretary between 2005 and 2015 and was accused of war crimes.

The Tamils, both from India and Sri Lanka, had raised their voice for his arrest and prosecution. However, Sri Lankan government had then rejected the demand for his arrest.

Murali has always maintained that there were no war crimes. “There were no war crimes and no genocide is his public stand. How can he say this? Is not he himself a Tamilian? We are thoroughly disappointed with him. He is doing it to be in the good books Rajapaksas. It is terrible,” said a Tamil journalist from Kandy who was quoted in News18 website on Thursday.

“It is like adding insult to injury. Tamils in the north suffered the most under Gotabaya. More than 80% voted against him this time. Murali is disliked by them,” said a Colombo-based Sri Lankan Tamil, who did not want to reveal his name.
