"My aim is to make a name for myself just like Abdul Razzaq did" : Hammad Azam

Talat's hitting style is that of a middle order player. Openers are expansive strokemakers that play on top of the bounce which he doesn't.

Hammad does have hitting ability but he's quite vulnerable against quality bowling, particularly against spin. Even against pace, his feet don't move much and he needs the ball in his zone to hit. He won't get that against international sides. Because he doesn't offer anything with the ball, he's simply not an option.

Wow that's a pretty detailed analysis on the basis of a handful of international appearances. Maybe you should become a talent scout for one of the PSL Teams!

No one is perfect, he deserves a go in the limited overs squad as a hitter, while deserves to be selected as a bowling all rounder in the Test squad.

I've always said give this lad a run of matches and see what he can do.

Instead they gave him a match here and a match there which is unfair on him and will not get the best out of any cricketer.

Razzaq is not he greatest role model to have IMO.

Yes he was a devastating hitter and in his prime a great swing bowler who could bowl in excess of 90 mph but had a poor attitude and poor fitness.

Not consistent enough for my liking and had a poor Test career.

I think Hammad should have done more with the limited opportunities he had.

Case in point - the 3rd ODi of Zimbabwe's tour to Pakistan in 2015. Hammad came in to bat when we were about 200/5 with Babar at the crease with more than 10 overs to go. He had plenty of time to build an innings and get us to a respectable score but tried to slog his way out after a few balls and it was left to Anwar Ali to get us to a decent score.

I am a big critic of Anwar Ali but he did better than Hammad in such situations which explains why got more plenty of chances in 2015.

Hammad should show better much awareness - he still has plenty of time but should make it count when he does get a chance. Life will not always present multiple opportunities and sometimes you just gotta make it count.

It has been a GRAVE SIN to ignore him once again. We made a huge error when we dumped Hammad without giving him a long rope, we had a golden chance to develop him and it's only from within the set up that cricketers can grow. And while he may not be at the level we'd have liked after 5 years (not really his fault being out the team) he has performed well enough at the domestic level in recent times to deserve a call up and with a lack of quality A/R it made sense to have him in the CT squad

RIP Azam's career, preposterous stuff from Inzi!

Hammad Azam is certainly making a name for himself in Norwegian cricket, following in the footsteps of Razzaq and Asif who both have recently played in the elite division over here. He signed for Bærum CC last month and has shown good potential with both bat and ball.

In his first game, Azam removed two top order batsmen to end up with figures of 5-2-9-2 and help his team win a low-scoring encounter.
Scorecard.

In his second game, Azam made 39 from 45 as his team managed 127 on a difficult pitch. He followed it up with 6-3-11-3 as they rolled over their opponents for 67. Scorecard.

Today, Azam showed his class with the bat as he smashed a 74 ball 117. Bærum CC managed 339 in the first innings. Christiana were never in the game and they probably wish they still had Asif around who enjoyed a successful stint last summer. Scorecard.

In between there was also a T20 cup game against a lower league opposition. Azam didn't bowl particularly well in this game but starred with the bat as he scored 89 from 29 to chase down 105 in 7 overs. Scorecard.

Good for him. He should try to get the citizenship over there so that he can be selected for Norway team. It will be nice for him and Norway cricket both.

Hammad Azam is playing for Ashcombe Park in North Staffs league this season. Not in Norway.

To be honest, he seemed average to me in whatever chances he got. Dont know why he's always among the favorites as all rounder in PP. Even Amer Yamin seemed much better.

115* off 198 balls for him today, good to see performing with the bat. He's captaining UBL so should promote himself a bit rather than batting at 7, could've at least batted above Nawaz.

Aamer Yamin, Faheem Ashraf are the compeition for Hammad.

He needs a big season to get ahead of them.

Yamin, Ashraf and Tallat are far better players to invest in.
