Usman Salahuddin speaking on TV during the high performance camp:
"We are focusing a lot on fitness during this high performance camp. Diet affects your fitness and you can't forget it once you leave the camp. Here we aren't having roti, rice, oily foods or sweets, we are having more protein and my focus is on continuing in that manner. I can already feel the improvement in my fitness and fielding. We are professionals and this is what we need to do to compete against other top teams"
"At the start it was difficult. We said to the trainers that it's very hard but as we're getting accustomed to it, it's becoming a lot easier. We don't find it difficult at all and are ennjoying it, some players are even doing extra. We wake up 5.30 AM and we work very hard at the camp."
"Younis and Misbah bhai have done a lot for Pakistan. Like Younis Khan has scored 10,000 runs for Pakistan, my goal is also to score 10,000 runs for Pakistan. He scored 30+ hundreds for Pakistan and I want to emulate him. For 8-9 years I've been waiting to make a spot in the middle order for myself in the Pakistan team but they played so well that I never got a chance. If I do get a chance now, I will look to make it count. I am established at the domestic level and I am hopeful I will perform well in Test cricket, given the opportunity."
"International cricket definitely brings pressure specially for a new player. But the team environment that I was a part of during WI tour is very encouraging and uplifting. Youngsters are given a lot of confidence and the new youngsters are performing very well due to that. International cricket has good standards so confidence is what you need which Mickey Arthur and the management has really done very well with."
"Domestic cricket pitches are not of a very good standard. They're seaming tracks with difficult conditions. International pitches have even bounce and are a little flatter. If I am selected for the next series which is in UAE then I hope I will perform well."
