I think without a doubt he has been the best chairman we have had for quite a while and he has delivered a lot and still has a lot more to deliver given the problems he had inherited.

Tauqir Zia

Shahryar Khan

Nasim Ashraf

Ijaz Butt

Zaka Ashraf

Ijaz Butt was the worst...

Sethi should be given special credit for making this constitution that picks the chairman through the BOG now no gufoon like Butt can become chairman and destroy the PCB.

Time to refresh and bump this thread

Under Sethi Pakistan has achieved the following

- Getting to number 1 in the Test rankings and T-20 rankings

- Return of International Cricket back to Pakistan

- 3 successful seasons of the PSL

- NCA being built in Multan, Karachi

- NCA being rebuilt in Lahore

- Qadhaffi stadium being refurbished in Lahore

- Karachi, National Stadium being refurbished

- Ambitious plans to refurbish 5-6 other stadiums in Pakistan for next years PSL

- Hiring of Foreign coaches

- Taking the fight to the BCCI in the ICC by pursuing an expensive but just Lawsuit

- Telling the BCB off given how they stabbed us in the back in 2012-13 and the manner in which Pakistani players are treated in the BPL. Inspite of the challenges and problems facing Pakistan Cricket, Sethi did not bow down to the minnows Bangladesh

This man has not only undone the damage done by the likes of Nasim Ashraf, Ijaz Butt, Zaka Ashraf to Pakistan Cricket but is also revamping and commercializing it as per modern needs and requirements. We desperately need 10 years of such leadership atleast.

Easily the best chairman PCB has had in the last 20 years. I don't think anyone over the past 20 years had the capability to successfully carry out PSL and not only that but to create a brand out of it.

However, I feel that Najam Sethi is always preoccupied with PSL and getting teams to tour Pakistan which leaves little time for him to revamp our domestic first class structure. I don't blame him but he really needs to delegate. He should create a 5 member committee to look after the affairs of the domestic setup so that everything can run parallel. Najam Sethi wants to be hands-on everything which is admirable but not possible.

All in all, Najam Sethi has proved that you only need to be a good administrator to run a cricket board. Being a cricketer is an added benefit but it should never be the only requirement. Well done Najam Sethi.

Hopefully he stays after the election.
If a certain party somehow manages to win next election then they will try their best to remove him..

Sethi is the best thing happened to pakistan cricket.

I disliked him when he was first appointed in the PCB,back in 2013.But he has been the best chairman of the PCB in it's history.

He has made a success of the PSL, but the bread and butter of PK cricket is the Domestic scene and that is a mess with terrible pitches and poorly paid players. Lets see what happens there before such great accolades are handed out.

Sethi can’t fix the domestic scene over night nor can anyone else

Everything is done step by step cricket interest is restored in Pakistan through PSL home games

No point spending money on pitches and stadiums when there was not much interest left in cricket in Pakistan

He is doing his best

How long has been part of the leadership? Around 4 years, i think. How long does he need?

Few days back he said that he will held meeting regarding reformation of domestic cricket with relevent stakeholders after psl final.

Credit where its due

We never knew if we culd have a PSL or not.

It was name that was started by DNA. ANd it was finally implemented by Najem SEthi

Not only that, he also had matches held in Pakistan. PSL final, and now 2 qualifiers in Pakistan

He is bringing cricket bck through PSL.

He deserves credit, politics is whats stopping that from happening

However, I am concerned that he hasn't really strengthened the PCB as an institution, if/when he goes, I can see a lot of crap happening.

This. He basically brought PSL from the dead...the framework for the PSL was set much earlier but PCB didn't have the funding to make it possible earlier. He deserves credit for that and hosting games in Pakistan. But in the grand scheme of things these are just short fixes (nothing wrong in those) and PCB will suffer from organizational issues after he's gone. I hope he puts something in place that will remain after he's gone and bring about structural changes that will improve the administration side of things.

Last time I checked cricket was still being played in Pakistan. The fact that a few overseas players have agreed to play a few matches in country while others abstain hardly gets us closer to having Test cricket back on th agenda. Just don't see it happening. Meanwhile, no A Team tours, no development of domestic cricket, rampant nepotism in appointments to the PCB.

You think Sethi had the funds to make the PSL happen? He took a huge risk, no one in the PCB was willing to take responsibility, he put his hands up and took complete ownership of the project and was willing to be crucified if it failed. If anything the previous PCB administrations just didn't have the balls, he did and that has been the difference.

Do you think the election will have an effect on his position as Chairman?

Possible, but hopefully saner heads prevail and that he be allowed to continue. There will be social media pressure if anything forcefully is done to remove him.

Agreed. He has done a better job than those before him.

I did say he deserves credit for the PSL and getting it started. I know he didn't have funding too but he realized that PSL should be a priority for PCB. Previous PCB chairmen were inept...but to say the PSL is Sethi's brain child is wrong..the PSL framework was put in to place by Nasim Ashraf and Haroon Lorgat.

Not really, just coming up with an idea is something anybody can do, even a lay person on the street. Executing is the difference.

Zaka Ashraf abandoned the PSL because back in 2012 he was told that we were not getting high quality international players in the draft, it is a huge financial risk, hosting it outside Pakistan will not be profitable and it will only work in Pakistan, we don't have the expertise to do it. He had even launched the PSL and had spent millions on the project before deciding to abandon it.

All I know about Nasim Ashraf is that he drained the PCB coffers big time from 2006 to 2008, hired and fired people at will, ran like a chicken once Musharraf was forced to resign and has never set foot in Pakistan still. There were so many NAB inquiries against him. A fake Insurance contract for an abandoned Pakistan Australia series, the costly acquisition of a Bio Mechanics Machine at the NCA which was never used. Check out all the available reports. The PCB was in a healthy financial state when he took charge in 2006 and was in a mess when he left and even worse is the fact that Pakistan hosted the Asia Cup in 2008 so it is inexcusable to be in such a poor financial position. He even gave up Pakistan's Dues from the 1996 World Cup from the BCCI just to please them.

Good riddance. Sethi is on a different level compared to that crook.

I think you're missing the point I made...I didn't say Sethi was worse than his predecessors..he's def. an upgrade on all of them. But the PSL while executed by Sethi (again, he deserves all the credit for it) was developed much earlier...but was scrapped due to many reasons you point out. I don't think he changed much from the initial blue print...that's all I'm saying. PSL had been in the works for a long time (ever since IPL came in to existence) just wasn't feasible at the time.

I know this is an awful analogy but he is like Gaddafi: relatively better than most other Arab dictators ( i stress relatively), but didn't build up the Libyan governmental institutions, tolerated and protected his kids who were far more corrupt ( much like Sethi doesn't do much with people like Shakeel Sheik), and then when it all came crumbling down all of his good work was gone.

Shakeel Sheikh is an elected member of a region. If idiots vote for Shakeel Sheikh then what can Sethi do?

Bro pls check PM's.

Corrupt individual, how he handled Sharjeel was unforgivable. Sethi has no evidence that he spot fixed, only reason why he was banned to feed his ego and image.

bro you have to take small steps

remember one thing. Before nothing was happening in Pakistan. Atleast this is happening.

bro.

sharjeel appealed. even his appeal was turned down

He's not perfect but he's doing a good job. Thanks for bringing cricket back to Pakistan.

Saw a recent interview of Sethi, he claims that the current brand value of the PSL right now is $500 million plus and you can only imagine how this will grow when the PSL comes to Pakistan, when more foreign players come and when more teams are added and when more sponsors are bought into the mix.

He also mentioned his plans to making the PSL a public listed company so that the nation of Pakistan could invest in the PSL and so that the PCB can have a really powerful independent revenue stream enabling it to inject massive funds into Pakistan Cricket.
