I'd love to face Wasim Akram because I want to witness his swing from the best possible angle and see how cleverly he can ball. How about yourself?

Shoaib Akhtar, just to face the world's fastest bowler and feel how fast 160 km/h really is

You cannot really see the ball when it is coming at over 145 clicks. So no chance of spotting the swing if you are not a professional cricketer.

I once faced a Ranji Trophy level bowler in my teens and could not spot the ball properly. He was obviously bowling over 135k+.

Sohail Tanvir. I still believe he takes the ball out of his pocket before delivering it

Adil Rashid, am always very hungry.

I am a second team level club cricketer. A limited player in other words :-)

A few years ago, I played against a first team spinner who had just returned from injury and was warming up playing for the 2nd team. I could hardly lay a bat on him. He was soooo good. 2nd team players tend to be good against medium pace - but against good spin.....it's a different scenario.

I would love to face a Shane Warne. I would be completely rubbish and not lay a bat on him. But I'd love to see how good he is.

Lol I would probably want to face Shoaib Akhtar and see how it feels to face the fastest bowler in the world.

Yeah, good spin is difficult because it's so much quicker than you expect. They come in and bowl at the same pace as some seamers you normally face.

I'd love to face shaz619 if he ever gathers the courage to come to the nets.

You wouldn't see anything :rahat1

I once faced a guy who was bowling easily at 90 mph with the tape ball.So I don't want to face an even quicker bowler like Akhtar or Lee.

I would like to face Warne.I am a legspinner myself and would like to face him even though I am just OK,even for a gully cricketer, with the bat.

You wanna know the scary thing? That guy probably wasn't even bowling 80mph.

No,I'm pretty sure the guy was bowling above 85,I have played and watched a lot of gully cricket and some first class games in the stadium. He was very rapid,I haven't seen a faster bowler.Maybe he wasn't bowling at 90 mph but 85 mph isn't faroff. We live and play in the same neighbourhood. He is 21 so it's not like he wasn't well developed. He focused on his education otherwise he could have played FC.He played local u-19 with Sami Aslam.

He's lost 5mph in pace in the space of 15 minutes :shezzy

The world is filled with amateur 'express' pacers who fail to hit 75 mph when you put them in front of a speed gun.

Khaled Mahmud Shujon (our chacha). It's just mouth watering to face dibly dubly bowlers.

Fast bowler would be impossible to play. So would prefer a spinner LOL.

Warne
Saqlain
Murli

I wish...

I'll stick by what I said.He was insanely quick,85 easily.I've watched Bhatti,Raees and Ehsan Adil bowl, who granted are not that quick but he was much faster.

Anyways we can agree to disagree.

In the nets - Starc - see what all the fuss is about.

In a match - Mohammad Yousuf :yk

How about facing Jeff Thomson in his prime without wearing a helmet like the players of the 70's used to? :D

Any Indian bowler so I can smash them around and get an IPL contract.

I wonder what speed I bowl at. Would be extremely disappointed if it's not 75 mph at least.

Jasprit Bumrah.

Would ensure I get free-hits too. :hasan Chief Destroyer shaz619 Syed1

Lillee or Akhtar at full pace, just to get a sense of international-level speeds.

About 9 years ago, at club in England, Gary Sobers bowled a few balls to me. It was old man bowling/chucking, but we were all grinning like kids at the very brief opportunity.

Or if it's a flat pitch then maybe.....:ashwin

Wahab Riaz... even though he is phasst but he will be bowling utter filth so a novice batsman like me could still handle him.

Sachin, Kohli, Amla and Ponting so I can smash a boundary at least and feel good about smacking an international player.

He is the type of bowler I want to face

The last thing you want in your life is for Riaz to read this post before bowling at you. We all know what he's capable of when fired up.

def mohammad asif. i wanna see that ball talk, but from a different angle

malcolm marshall n shane warne in their pomp possibly the greatest pace bowler and spinner of all time

Hahah, people think they can face an express pacer.

A cousin of mine (19 yo) is a local WK/Opener in a club in Pakistan. According to him after 130kph; it stops being funny :yk; and pace actually instills fear! :srt

He's only ever faced one (and erratic) 90mph* (or that's what everyone was saying) bowler in his life and he says there is huge difference between 130kph and 145kph.

(*He managed to score 42 runs in that game but his team lost)

Saeed Ajmal, for the opportunity of facing both a cricket ball and a baseball pitch at once.

This, this some more, and this again. People might think they could face a Wasim or an Akhtar, but even for one ball it will be nothing but a blur before it smashes onto your stumps. There are reasons these players are ATG.
Never mind so called "trundlers" like Anwar Ali or Wahab Riaz. No, they're not great against other international players and they should not play at that level. But they would work out most amateur players within 1-2 balls at most. There is a reason they are professionals. They see things in a players stance/eyes/batting style that we don't.

Now, assuming that I had the abilities to face any of these players, I would love to face Shahid Afridi. You just never know what you're going to get from him-a guy who's absolutely on song or is so bad as to be an easy target.

Shane Warne as not the a fast bowler so no fear of getting decapitated and yet, can admire the legendary turn that will bamboozle me as it has done in the past to real great batsmen...

I have a really good defence against the faster bowlers but against spin I'm pretty hopeless, can't believe in this day and age I block and I don't even go for any shots,Comes natural maybe.

Mohammad Amir.. and I'm pretty sure I would do much better than the spineless display Rohit and Kohli exhibited in the CT final.

Wasim Akram was not a 145+ bowler. He was medium fast, around 130's.

Television really doesn't do justice to the pace of the game. When people are bowling at you at that pace - you have a split second to judge the length of the ball, whether to go forward or back, to attack or defend and where to place the ball.

There's such little margin for error. Obviously you train your reflexes in the nets for hours as a pro, but when you face deliveries at that pace for the first time its quite a shock.

First time I faced deliveries at 80mph, I struggled to get on the front foot :)) The pro's make it look easy but it took years of hard work and dedication to master their craft

I think for a 90mph ball you get between 0.4-0.6s reaction time, I forgot what was the exact figure. Ridiculous times to react. Fast ball games like cricket, baseball you need insane reflexes.

This article helps:

In my view it feels quicker than half a second for the ball to come onto the bat, my eyes can't follow the ball at all! Haha

Great read thanks mate, these pro's never get enough credit; those whom have played at the club level at the very least will appreciate how good they are

He was bowling at almost 140kph as a 37-year-old during the 2003 World Cup. :))

He wasn't. He was bowling around 130's and tonking around 137 at his fastest. That was his consistent speed ever since 99, from when they started showing speeds.

Still, the ball swings more from 130-140 kph than it does at 140+ kph.

And he was 33 in 1999. Most fast-bowlers start losing speed by that age.

I said almost 140kph because I saw several videos where he was clocking 135-139 in the World Cup.

Regardless, your claim of him being a 130kph Indian-esque trundler is ridiculous. :sree

Wrong. Wasim was quick (at least mid 140s) in his earlier days before he got diagnosed with diabetes (in 1997 I think), after that he had to cut the pace down and age caught on to him as well. His average pace then was around 135 but he could still push 140 sometimes.
