[Netflix] Messiah

So far so good Really enjoyed the first 2 episodes so far

You must meet some strange people. The Muslims I have spoke to are saying this is nothing like the Islamic story but a mix up of different ones to produce a tv show for entertainment.

On topic.

On episode 5, not sure where this show is heading now, twists are coming in.

im referring the superhuman and supernatural elements

So I binged it and well.... it’s along expected lines.. I didn’t expect any answers because I know most of the time they are angling for multiple seasons. But what I did find fascinating was how smoothly they were able to converge the similarities between the three Abrahamic faiths. I don’t know what Judism truly says on the subject, except that a future Jewish King will rise to save them, in fact I don’t even know fully well what Islam states on the topic so it was a bit too convenient how everyone simply seems to fall in line and believe him to be the Messiah, when he starts off as a Muslim, not Jewish person.

In the Christian tradition, the Messiah is basically Christ reborn. But in the Muslim tradition, Mahdi is separate from Christ. They are two separate people and the show sort of left it open to interpretation what the Muslims followers thought of him.. is he Jesus? Is he Mahdi? What do the Jews really think he is?

So without spoiling much, I’ll just say... don’t expect straight or easy answers or any closure and stay tuned for the next season.

With that being said, I think the show is far from authentic in terms of theology and is more for the uneducated western masses who really don’t understand the subtle or glaring differences between the three Abrahamic branches.

Slowed down in the last few espisodes. Decent watch and we now know there will be a season 2.

The religious context is all over the place, it's just entertainment. But they had to set the political narrative, US needs to keep it's troops in the region and helps the world. Palestinians move to terrorism blah blah.

Never thought Dajjal would be rocking Nike and Adidas. The blatant product placement was quite ridiculous.

Pretty decent overall, but it did fizzle out in the end though. The theory that Jibril is the real messiah probably has legs.

Or Mahdi for that matter, there is even a book titled 'The Mahdi Wears Armani' about harun yahya.

Messiah was a huge hit with audiences when it was released at the beginning of this year on Netflix.

The first outing came to a dramatic end when it was revealed Al-Masih (played by Mehdi Dehbi) actually seemed to have supernatural powers.

Many viewers were eager to see where this took the show next and whether this was all part of a larger con.

However, it was confirmed on Thursday, March 26 that the series had been cancelled after just one outing.

The news was released on Instagram by one of the show's stars Wil Traval.

He wrote to his fans on the social media platform: “It’s a very sad day today.

"I have just received news from Netflix that there will be no season 2 of #messiah I wanted to say to all the fans thank you for your support and love. I wish things were different.”

Netflix has not yet made an official comment as to why it was cancelled but Express.co.uk has reached out to them for comment.

The show also starred actors like John Ortiz, Michelle Monaghan and Tomer Sisley.

According to Deadline, one of the reasons for the cancellation may be down to the international nature of the show.

The publication reported that given the series is filmed all over the world with an international cast, it may be difficult to produce after the outbreak of coronavirus COVID-19.

As well as this, the show did face some controversy before it had even been released.

Just two days before it was brought out on Netflix, The Royal Film Commission of Jordan requested it not be shown in the predominantly Muslim country.

However, in spite of this, many expected the show to return again for a second season after so many questions were left unanswered.

As viewers will remember, the last episode of season one saw Al-Masih outed as a con-man after fooling many people to believe he was the second coming.

Then in a twist of fate, he was seen to survive a plane crash before resurrecting a number of people who had perished in the accident.

This led to a number of theories about whether this ending was real or whether he could in fact be an iteration of the anti-christ.

Many fans were left disappointed by the news that these questions will not be answered, taking to social media to voice this.

Posting on Twitter Margaret Sippell wrote: "SO APPARENTLY MESSIAH HAS BEEN CANCELED. now we'll never know whether he really was the second coming or just a con man with luscious locks. i am very upset."

"Even Messiah can't save the world. He is canceled by Netflix," added another viewer named Mas Djay.

Ronke Lawal wrote: "I am so disappointed by this news. #Messiah was one of the best series I've watched on Netflix in a while.

"I hope this decision can be reviewed after the global crisis."

Really fancied watching this, looked very interesting. Seems a bit pointless investing time in it now though, if they are just going to can it after one season.

I would still watch season 1 esp because many of the Abrahamic faiths believe we are in the end times.

Reminds me to bump up the last days thread, a new Quranic verse has come to my attention.

I probably will watch it on that basis.

Rewatching the magnificent Breaking Bad at the moment, only 5 episodes in so going to be a while on that one first. :D

Gutted to say the least.

That cliffhanger at the end was a twist no one saw coming.

Messiah : Netflix permissible to watch or not

Last night i wanted to watch Netflix series Messiah but is it permissible to watch for Muslims as what i heard about this show is dajjal thing has been shown in this show
So i mean can i watch it or not

Messiah - The Netflix series

Okay being a end of times nut that I am, I was really keen to watch this series when I heard about the plot and theme of this series.

There were definitely many problems with the series, not just the controversial/religious aims but storyline and pacing wise. At times, the series wanders off in a totally different direction and it feels like it could have done much better by cropping a few episodes.

Regarding the material, I found it to be as neutral as it can get from writers of west with roots in either Judaism or Christianity. I think they tried their best to be respectful to all the three religions.

I binge watched it and finished the series in 2 days. Even the ending is a cliffhanger with more questions than answers that were given throughout the series.

For any person interested in end of times/Messiah/False Messiah etc, definitely watch this one.

Well we don't really know if it was really about Messiah, Mahdi or Dajjal or just a con man or even one of the false prophets/lesser false prophets. Was really hoping to for a season 2.

Definitely freaky the lead actor's name was Mehdi

Think that was really nothing to do with it. Like Hollywood did with The Omen 3, Damien turned out to be simply nothing more than ONE of the false messiahs.

On another topic, I think you should also try watching Damien. It's about the Damien character from the first Omen movie.

My research has nothing to do with the recent scholars. Although most of scholars follow same reasoning since most of research are derived from the same source.

You are entitled to disagree if you’d like. I have nothing to prove as my job was to give commentary based on my researching based on compilations of sources altogether. At the end, ALLAH knows best.

Old Pakistan has to go in order to make room for New Pakistan. How is it going to happen will be demonstrated as time will tell, In Sha ALLAH.

Right now there are too many hadiths scattered at the result of many Empires falling with Ottoman Empire being the recent, then KSA scholars took the charge. Hence the confusions later as the result of Wahhabism ideology.

When I connected the dots, it was clear that the conqueror of India will slaughter many Arabs as the result of their planning to kill Imam Mahdi aka Rightly Guided. So naturally they aka Wahhabism followers are bound to corrupt the hadiths to spread the confusion. It is not coincident why it is same region considered as horn of Satan.

As for Ghazwa-e-Hind, it is final battle as part of last hour. It is battle much like Holy Kaaba. After Ghazwa-e-Hind, the root of Hinduism cluttered with paganism, idolism, stone worship,...etc will be eradicated once and for all like the revival of Monotheism Holy Kaaba.

The arrival of Muhammad Bin Qasim was the first phase and Ghazwa-e-Hind is last phase. After that, no more old Polytheism India.

Once the whole worlds become Muslims following the eradication of polytheism, defeat of Dajjal and its armies, then the mission is fulfilled and thus the end of Times.

Again, you don’t have to take my words for it. You are free to disagree as it is your right.

I am not gonna argue on the prophetic debate that is largely the same based on the understanding of the prophecy / sources hence most of scholars offer the same possible reasoning while some differ.

who knows when the events are going to actually take place. It could be 10 years or 100 years or even 1000 years from now. The landscape and power struggle of the world could be different by then.

Plus based on what I have read, and I have read a lot about it, Ghazwa e Hind prophecy is from a weak hadith.

The army from Khorasan is thought to be more accurate.

Plus among the interesting things I have read, Khorasan comprises of part of Afghanistan, Pakistan, Iran and some India.

According to some sources, Dajjal will also be first sighted/make waves in Iran(Isfahan). Quite scary that Iran is going to be involved with both Mahdi and Dajjal.

Alot of scholars speak about the black smoke rising and blotting out the sun as evidence of a nuclear holocaust. However if nuclear weapons are used in the vicinity of the middle east or the indo pakistani subcontinent then nothing is going to survive.

Therefore governments are lookingat ways of waging conventional warfare just below the nuclear threshold. What good is a world to Dajjal if it has no followers in it? remember the Prophet SAW said he would travel the world very quickly using the tech of his age. How can he travel the world using tech if its been destroyed by nukes?

Therefore after reading and much research I have some theories:

1) According to the Prophet pBUH the king of Syria would send an army to defeat the Mahdi. Before the Syrian war started this hadith seemed a bit weird. Afterall why would the syrians have any major beef with the kingdom of arabia? or why would they want to interfere in its affairs? When the Syrian war started I turned to a friend of mine and said Assad will win this war and Syrian will begin its path down destiny lane. And sure enough Prophet SAW's prophecy is coming true. The Syrians now hate the Kingdom and it wont be a big surprise if they interfere in geopolitical trouble in the future.

2) The followers of the Mahdi will gather in Jerusalem befoer the final confrontation with the Dajjal. But Jerusalem is ruled by the Israelis. How will the Mahdi and his followers get there? And why would a large contingent of Jewish people be itching to get their own back at the Mahdi?
Well because at some point before this gathering Israel will face a massive military defeat. The Dajjal will then come to gather his forces many of them will come to take on the Mahdi. How else would he be in Jerusalem?

3) There are mentions of an army riding with black flags that will travel at great speed from the direction of what was Khorasan in the old days and translates as modern day afghanistan/pakistan/iran. Now the black flag donates authority from the 7th century onwards. Therefore the army would have to be one that commands some authority in the Muslim/Arab world. It would also need to have the capability to move quickly across long distances. Modern armies can move swiftly in days across long distances. This army would need to have a strong logistical strategy, good communications and a motivated armed cadre. It would also need to have freindly relations with the lands it will be crossing. They say that this army will fight against a large force of munafiqueen and will defeat this force after which God swt will forgive it for its previous sins.

4) Another force of Muslims will reconquer constantinople and will be cleaning its swords before the arrival of the dajaal. This force will have christian allies and will break through the walls of constantinople without weaponry. Therefore signifying some sort of ideological struggle perhaps or maybe a coup or political upheaval. Therefore we have two forces one from the west and one from the east who will move to join the Mahdi in the final struggle.

so the question is who are these two forces, at the moment the only two forces that could potentially fit the bill are Pakistan and Turkey.

Coming onto the final battle(s) its clear that these will precede a big final confrontation when the gog and the magog will finally make a final attempt to conquer the world and will casue rgeat calamity. This is when nukes will possibly be used as Allah swt will order Prophet ISA AS to ascend to a high mountain point and then he will destroy the Gog and the Magog with a disease. This points to a major world war 3 type event where space based weapons will be used and the Gog anf Magog will inflict havoc on the earth. It also points to a global pandemic that will kill those of the bloodline of the Gog and the Magog. These events will occur after the death of the Dajjal. There will also be a major climate change event as predicted by the Prophet pbuh where the earth will suffer major climate shifts due to these events. Once the climate shift has ended Prophet ISA AS will bring his followers back to a healed world where the climate has settled and stabilised...

these are my theories based on how modern events are taking shape..so to summarise:

1) Major battles in the middle east invovling a succession battle in saudi in which isreal, the europeans/US/Isreal, Syria Russia will get involved

2) Major movement from the east as more battles rage with munafiqueen and movement of forces to the middle east

3) Major battles/political upheavals/ etc in the western muslim world leading to more mvoement towards the middle east.

4) a final conflaguration with the Dajjal

5) the final march of the Gog and the Magog as they try one last time to conquer the world

6) a global pandemic

7) Major climate shift.

Haven't heard about Syrian armies going to attack Mahdi.

One thing that I have read about is that Mahdi will be the title and not his actual name. And he won't be known as the Mahdi from birth. He will repent a lot as a grown man (in Makkah and Madina) and it will be then that Allah will bless him with the task of leading the Muslims and make him Mahdi.

Another thing that he himself won't be the one claiming to be Mahdi as such. It will be the people who will recognize him.

And once the forces coming to capture him get engulfed by the land, it will be then that majority of Muslims will recognize him as the Mahdi and (possibly) Monarchies in the Muslim countries would disband afterwards.

Definitely freaky the lead actor's name was Mehdi

Plus Imam Mahdi's name isn't going to be Mahdi. It will be his title. According to hadith, his name will be Mohammad and his father's name will be Abdullah (just like our beloved Prophet SAW)

The guy Mehdi Dehbi is merely an actor who is probably trying to break into Hollywood.

Lmao I thought this was a doco series for Messi when I read the title :)))
Actually I thought same that's why I never opened this thread.. finally I'm very bored right now so give it a try..
